Community Resource Ideas!

For a while I've been thinking that the community could use a little upgrade to our options, in specifically those related to guilds and events. I know that we have a guild posting section but I was thinking something more community friendly. I've played several mmo's in the past and one that had great community features in my opinion, was FF14. We need more features on the site for the community outside of simply forums. We could use event/party planners and guild/player search functions that allow us to search for guilds or players. It would be nice to be able to view our character models and stats while offline and find out just how many subscribers are in guilds compared to what they may advertise. It would also create more of a sense of community to be able to search players out on friends lists, add them via the site or check out their gear/stats. This could help other players generate good ideas for their own characters or builds within the ESO community instead of having to do so on 3rd party guild sites etc. Below are some links that are from ff14 that I mention here purely as an example of some of the functions I am talking about. Again, I used FF14 because I know some people who play it and I like the set up of their community features. I'm sure there are tons of other examples that could be used here. Feel free to post them!

Ya, I am sure it's just wishful thinking but I would hope that the web developers are a separate team from the game developers. *hopes*

I have always wanted features like this, I was just too lazy to request them! I would use every single one of these features. It would make searching for guilds or new members much easier. We've been really lucky to find amazing players so far for our guild but I constantly find myself wondering - how many players did we miss finding because we didn't see their posts in the forums or they didn't know they could just make a post?

These would be very very useful and I would love to see them added! I don't see any of these as addons listed on the Vanilla Forums plugins page though so I'm not sure if it's something that could be integrated through the forums.

Perhaps a section on the site not related to the forums for these features? That would be awesome!

In my series i have asked that when they get arounf to releasing a phone app to eso includes alot of this.

I took a look at the post and I like some of the elements and it's a common concept we both like to be sure. I think the only information displayed about the characters themselves should be what is displayed on the character sheet. IE: Gear, Level, Character Model for looks, Stats etc. That's enough info to be fun and not overboard where people see all your motifs etc. I would also think that any level you are in fighters, mages, undaunted etc would be relevant and I suppose your crafting level in each craft, but not your traits or motifs known.

As a leader of an active guild I have no need for what you suggest. We use a time tested and popular guild hosting website that serves our needs well and has an API for adding customization. I think the suggestion of this thread, while not bad, is a distraction from the main focus on the actual game systems and content which is very much needed right now. I have seen similar tools other games and they come up lacking for my tastes. Likely due to its outside their focus. Maybe I set to high of a bar.

Most divisions within companies will not "take time" from other departmental focuses in the degree you may be thinking. Now, this could drastically depend on how large teams are. If ZOS doesn't have enough people to work on their website and they are pulling game developers to do web dev. work, that's an issue. Frankly, if that's the case...it's looking grim for the game anyway. That being said, if you looked at the links I set up, there are some pretty AMAZING community functions that could be out there and that's just one game's take on the social/community aspect. This game lacks community in a large way because most people love soloing stuff. I also run a decent sized guild (about 100 people 80+ are very active). This doesn't impact Just the guild, it's about community as a whole. Also, people are MUCH less apt to travel to 3rd party guild websites compared to staying within the community on ESO's Website itself. The community is only enhanced substantially when the game itself values its enhancement and utilizes tools to effectively manage and support it.
I won't argue that Content in the game is Severely needed and not just one batch of it but continual substantial content. If that doesn't happen, community won't matter. If I had to pick one or the other Content would always win but we shouldn't HAVE to pick one or the other unless their design and developing teams are truly stretched paper thin.

I could certainly see the advantage of having a phone app for eso also.
