Crown Store: Seriously? That's it?

So you re-released the Palamino horse, added a fox to pets, and added the Ordinator armor pack to the costumes. Why only 3 items? And why still nothing from the several pages long request list that YOU asked for?

I'm glad the palomino horse is back, I was just thinking about getting it when it disappeared from the website, and I expected it to be in the crown store right away.

But I am surprised they aren't taking ideas from the thread considering they keep encouraging us to post them there.

I really wish people would stop demanding that they monetize a barber shop of all things. You shouldn't have to pay money to customize your base character. Extras, yes, those are reasonable. But not the base cosmetic aspects of the character.

They're working on Barber Shop and Race change. Release date is currently unknown. They mentioned that on one of the ESO Lives.

You forgot about the Golden Eye Guar. So that's actually 4 items.

It's pretty easy to see why they're releasing items like this at the moment: aside from some of the mounts and a couple of the costumes (well, and the consumables), everything that they've released so far is something that either already existed in the game, or was a simple re-texturing of something that already existed in the game.

In other words, they're releasing things that require little work on their part. Many of the things that people are asking for in the request thread would require significantly more work for them to do. I'm sure we'll get some of them, but likely even the ones that they look at and say "hey, good idea, let's do it" will be on the back burner until after the console release is stable and some of the announced DLC is released.

And frankly, I'm OK with that. I want them to focus their resources on the console release (because if it's not a success then that bodes ill for the long-term life of the PC version), and on DLC. For the time being I want the Crown Store items to only be ones that don't require a lot of work from ZOS, and that won't pull resources away from more important things.

Agree, they need spend most of time getting the consoles together so we can start getting new content for everyone.

There have been tons of requests for more polymorph costumes and those are all already in the game. Especially a lot of people want werewolf.

THIS... and I wonder how much that decision was influenced by the fact that those of us who are transferring to console will be able to take our goodies with us. If they release a bunch of awesome stuff... we get it duped. If they wait to release the awesome stuff until after console there's the possibility we will want it on PC AND Console. Double the purchase... double the crowns... double the fun!

I dont see how crap like whats in the store now is going to make them more money than the sub fees did. It doesnt feel like enough, and not because Im a "gimmie gimmie' person because I dont care for the stuff anyhow. Just dont understand how they are making money with just a few items every month. Im tellin ya, they would make TONS of $$$ if they would just put stuff like character slots, barber shop, name changes ect. in the store.

Side note, I dont want them to put barber shop in the store but we all know its gonna be that way, nothing from ZOS is gonna be free anymore.

I'd much rather them make werewolf a toggle than make a werewolf polymorph. Just seems a bit weird to do a werewolf polymorph. I understand the roleplay value of it, but meh...yeah, I'd just rather see actual werewolf players as werewolves with a werewolf morph toggle--even if they just make a "polymorph" version of it that unlocks for werewolf characters (but is only usable if you are currently a werewolf...can't use it if you get cured).

Now a polymorph that turns you into a wolf or some other sort of animal, that might be cool, since it could play into roleplay for "witchy" characters and wouldn't interfere with a class or skill line concept already in game. But it might be harder to do since your actions would have to be translated into the appropriate "animal" actions...but it's a thought.

There are very few AAA titles that went to F2P, did not monetize with P2W (changing the game into a "let's cash in as much as possible before the game dies) and are actually earning enough revenue to keep delivering new updates.

They have some factors in common and ESO has none of that:

1) Rich shop, with very nice looking gear, lots and lots of mounts (vehicles in SWTOR), with varying degree of rarity so the "whales" (compulsive buyers with lots of money) can grab all those rare things that cost 10 times as much as the others.

2) True functionalities: respecs, bank slots, reskins, unlocking content that would be limited through the week...

3) Those items are Bind on Equip and can thus be traded. Very important along with the next step.

4) Tightly controlled shop currency that can be traded between players and / or ability to convert in game gold to shop currency and vice versa. This feature along with 3 allow a very known phenomenon, where people with large real life cash tend to run out of in game gold and so they keep purchasing rare mounts / gear / vehicles with real money and then put them on the guild stores.
So, the many players with lots of time on their hands but no real life money can grind lots of gold and then use that to purchase the mounts. This feeds a mechanism that allows "whales" to spend even more real cash on rarities, with the premise they'll make a lot of game gold with that.

Take away these factors and the F2P model suddenly loses a lot of potential and the game goes to a path of slow decline, at the end of which the developers implement P2W stuff to buy some more time before all is over.

Scary thing is...

They have added more to the store in the last two months than to the actual game.
This trend will continue, as it is now the norm. Makes you feel stupid for paying $15.00 a month all last year for content that never came and end up paying for it again .

That may be true but I DO attribute that to the "we aren't doing jack for you PC folk til well after console release" phenomena. But the thing is, adding cosmetic goodies to the cash shop is pretty much a quick and easy thing for the most part. I'm not talking abut the things on the master wish list like player housing (tho I LONG for that!) but stuff that would be ridiculously easy for them to do. Like....

name changes

return to char gen for customization/appearance change (not race or class as those affect stats and WILL require more coding so I speak here of superficial cosmetic/physical changes only)

polymorph costumes (only those that will not require a "break" during combat because of weapons animations although I am guessing since they already have costumes in the game that "break" upon entering combat it wouldn't be a huge step to say, for instance, make a werewolf polymorph that would "break" but not disappear from your inventory like those other disguises so you can use it again when out of combat)

I know there are other "easy" things but I'm still on my first cup of coffee. LOL But you get the picture. Until whenever they feel the game has "breathed" enough after console release pretty much ALL we have to look forward to are crown store goodies. And it wouldn't be all that tough for them to do.

Yup that's what I said.

Apparently a lot of people don't understand how a business works either.

I'll break it down a lil bit.

A business is comprised of several teams that do different things.
You have a graphics developer
You have a coding developer
You have a lore developer
You have a skill developer
You have a PvP developer
You have a console coding developer
etc etc etc

Notice the bold
Just because they are releasing something on consoles, doesn't mean they cannot do anything else before the console get released.
The graphics are already done.... What is he going to do? Sit back with his feet up and look at facebook all day "due to waiting on console"
He aint going to reimage everything, all he do is copy and paste the code over to the console.

What do people want???

Is that graphics developer having too much to do? Nope, its not like they making the console version look different than the PC version... Its all the same really, maybe a few tweaks here and there.

Nah he's doing something, and I'm sure something will come sooner or later.

I like to think of the developers as servers.
We have new items and cosmetics for players to play with.... But the other stuff isn't ready.
You know how it is... Have to give everything at the same time regardless if 2 of the 4 meals are ready and waiting. Bad etiquette to serve 2 of 4 people meal at same time too and to eat in front of others when they don't have there meal ready at a restaurant.

So yall just have to wait until they ready to serve you all, all your meals at once.
