I put down how much I would buy tops.
Most likely it'd be 1-3, but only up to 9.

This game unlike GW2 you actually get benefits from having more characters.
    Via hirelings giving you stuff.

I learned yesterday, the only way to get breeze juice and frost miram is through hirelings or writs.
You can only do 1 wirt a day, so if you want a lot of breevze juice and frost miram your gonna need a lot of hirelings.

I assume if your not a tradeskill person, you wouldn't buy any new slots though.
This game also good for playing just 1 character.. You actually invest in 1 character, games like GW2 everyone is equal, all you do is use up 78 level scrolls and 300 of those skill scrolls. BAM that character is just as good as your 1st.

This game, you gotta spend 60 days to get riding skill to max. Probably other stuff too. Like fighters guild stuff and Alliance War.

Actually, thats hard to say. You would buy one slot. Then a while later, decide you want to reroll, and for some reason, think hmm, that toons is still usefull so ill buy a 2nd slot.

THen the 3rd slot you delete a character instead, then decide to get a new slot a week later after the pub as you CBA to empty all the items from his backpack

Um... they already do that. It's called a second sub. And I did it. So I guess my answer is "8"
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Out of curiosity, why did you buy another account? Unless it's just another bank to hold endless amounts of crap, there's no other reason right? Seems a little tough to try and dual-box this game without extensive macros/scripts.

    It depends on price.

Since you can essentially get another account for $20 (cost of a box nowdays) with 8 slots.. they better be priced comparatively.

Wrong. Very very wrong. 10 playable races and only 8 character slots per account is one possible reason. 3 factions and 4 class per faction is another possible reason. Wanting different characters for RP purposes in another possible reason. There are lots and lots of reasons why someone might do this. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - which means that there are LOTs of 'other reasons' for having a second account.

I'm older than @UrQuaan ... finishing grad school, and since our original live RPG group is now spread over several states, this is a nice way for a group of gamers to play 'together'.

Also I love creating backstories for my characters.

Has nothing to do with anyone's opinion on content.

Edit: in discussing this with my spouse, he mentions that two accounts worth of hirelings might be a very good way for a Craft-Heavy player to support a single character that really really wanted to concentrate only on crafting

I'm just approaching it from the perspective of what your general casual players and under would want. With the moan and groan from the already awful VR grind, I wouldn't think the majority of players would have an immediate need for more than just a few character slots.

I put zero because I don't really think I would be interested in the game much after leveling 8 characters. That may change though depending on what new content is added and how the game moves forward.

The price of a character slot would also be a factor.

1 to 3 at the moment. It depends going forwards how many bit part actors I need for my films. I have the full 8 slots and I really need at least one really short male bosmer for a future project.

I have one. He is a Mule and quite distinctive looking. I made him purposely ugly at the time as I knew I was going to delete him at some point. But, now I just can bring myself to do it as I have grown fond of him. He is kind of a Steam Punk Bosmer and he is as short as I can make him.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I play on one character. My only reason to create another character is try out another class, which I can only do when ready to give up on my original character (fat chance when I played one character for four years in Oblivion). In regards to race "min/maxing," I choose a race close to myself - I play myself within Tamriel. Optimal or suboptimal, I pick a race as mine and stick with it, regardless of character iteration.

Thus, with only four classes to explore, I need only four character slots, half the number available to us now.

Not sure why people want more than 8 slots cause there is really no point in making more than 8 characters.....

Why do you believe everyone is like you with the same attitudes and beliefs?

I always want to run all the "races"/"species", and always have a mass of alts.

I cannot do this on 1 server, so I'm forced to use 2 servers to get this.

So I simply want enuf slots to do this on one server.

This also is an RVR game or if you prefer an AvAvA. So I like to have 1 healer/1 tank per Alliance or Realm, plus a sneak and a regular dps.

Hopefully the light will dawn and you start to see my reason for wanting more alts is not as you ASSUME.

More character slots is not something that would get me to open my wallet for this game company.

Those things in my signature are.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.
