Not this time, Grips. There's an EP crew that night caps all of Azura's on the regular. It's been a more heated competition than you give it credit for; only recently the EP has stopped fighting during the day and instead fighting elsewhere. Also sounds like something EP did on Thornblade until they had to be scared off a server they were nightcapping.

I remember the Chillrend/Thornblade back and forth well. We were one of the first non-TB affiliated guilds to switch to TB to try to even it out.

At the same time, let's not forget the final results. In the end, we went from 2 active servers, to one and a dead/buff server. No one was served by those actions and the guilds that stayed on Chillrend to turn it into a buff server have a lot to answer for for their actions that did so much to make this game worse.

Meh South-Georgian zergs gonna zerg. The reds should have stayed on Thorn; it would have never happened otherwise. The yellow that was on Chillrend did the same thing; they up and left when they were the ones keeping it heated. This game has supported my theory that many (most?) MMO players will actively seek non-competitive ways to "win" at competitive contests.

I admit, I find the current meta of 'run away to a server that has less competition' vaguely stupid.

OTOH, Blackwater's a hell of a lot of fun.

Killing ppl in open world PvP is bullying? Care bear much?

It doesn't matter if you call yourself a PvE'r; you go into a PvP zone, you're a PvP'r. Learn to defend yourself then you can PvE and RP to your heart's content.

As far as blue was concerned last week, Chill was dead. I switched home to Azuras because last campaign everyone hyped it up as being where the action is. Nope.

Meh, guess I need to finally start doing those craglorn quests.

That's because the game's setup in such a way that it gives empires "buff" servers, and everybody wants their stupid buff server. I honestly think that's the worst part about PVP and influences empires to jump ship rather than offer GOOD incentives to stay to a campaign.

There's literally ZERO reason to stick to a server where you're the underdog. None. Following the buff server crowd rewards you, even if there's no fight to fight.

If I had a nickel for every time I ran into a ganker or a team of gankers, I'd have a sh**-ton of nickels.

But anyway, are you EP or DC perhaps? If so, what campaign do you favor? We'll, uh, keep an eye out for you...yeah.

Seriously though, the groups I run with do some ganking on occasions, but we target enemy reinforcement or pursuit lines, not the quest cities. I know that's not the case with everyone.

Can't speak for the prime time population, but DC can and does field a decent oceanic population on chillrend if the action is there to fight against. . There are a few key factors that need to be addressed though if you want people to stop leaving servers.

1: First and probably foremost, once a server becomes largely fought for and in more or less way 'competitive' it becomes heavily populated and then lags, driving players away from said campaign.

2: There is very little incentive to actually winning a campaign, but increasing this incentive needs to be done in a manor that doesn't tip the scale even more and driving people to just play in their respective winning campaigns/buff servers. There needs to be a way of making winning a campaign that is highly fought for a HUGELY rewarding thing. IMO, this incentive used to be pride and bragging rights, but again I would say the incentive of getting a lag free fight trumped that desire.

3: on top of that, the domination of a server by one faction rapidly demoralizes the others If winning is the goal, the scoring either needs to be changed to help keep scores closer, OR rather than simply rewarding the winning faction largely, reward the top end players from each faction largely. BUT not in the way it is already does, as I mentioned above, the reward system needs to directly be related to how fought for the campaign is. IE top players from a campaign that doesn't suffer from low pop bonus's over its duration should be rewarded more than those who win a buff server at top spot.

It would not really be that hard to determine fairly which cam pains are 'competitive and put that into the coding for rewards. surely. Could you not even perhaps measure and calculate the total AP made on a server over x amounts of time by all players to determine which is more competitive, or simply give better rewards for campaigns that end with close scores?

Bottom line, the rewarding need to relate to how fought for a campaign is, not just winning it or being top whatever %

They left the game. The lag problem is worse than ever, ZOS are doing nothing, and PvP is losing its few remaining players. The non-vet campaign still has some real action, but it's only one campaign, serving a few hundred die-hard enthusiasts on either side of the Atlantic. The population in PvP is now so small that they might need to reduce the number of regular campaigns even further.
  • Vizier

That the non-vet campaign has and continues to do so well population wise is telling.

The pvp is more well rounded. Players from lvl 10-49 are more on an even footing and you tend not to have so many unkillable godlings running around. The balance between classes seems better and you just don't see the lagsploiters that have pretty much ruined the other campaigns.

If ZoS wants to fix PvP they need to take a hard look at what is causing folks to leave. DC guilds have been migrating from campaign to campaign and it's just pathetic even if it is understandable. They have a lower population by far and I think just reached the breaking point after the 1.6 honeymoon was over. DC has already migrated through all the campaigns so where to now? I think they are just leaving the game. I know the current state of things has alot of folks "thinking" about whether or not it's worth their time to continue with ESO....sad.

Actually all that changed in thorn was my group stopping the ep night capers.

AD plays with less pop then EP until they all run to another campaign. So AD gets the map. Previously EP would then night cap to regain their buffs, but no more.

I went to chillrend for 15 mins the other day, and the pvdoor group did a 50/50 on Arrius when they found out I left. They where swiftly dealt with by 5 ppl vs 20.

We had maybe 8-12 at any given time. Ad finally showed up with x3 our numbers plus their emp and slaughtered us. Half my group quit. I whispered the emp and his response was "bring more DC". Well first off I am the emp you speak of, and I did not got to bleakers last night. I went to nikel, but because I must defend the smiley face (BRK, Ash and anything south). This is just how you defend a map. I was not at Aleswell or Bleakers, and I would have not responed to Chal if you went there (I don't control the pugs though). I want more DC in the server. I have never personally went to any of your relic keeps. The only time I was ever in the area was to intercept some red getting your scroll.

I told you to bring more DC because that is what I genuinely want. My goal is to break TB of being a buff server. I have done what I view as the first step by stopping the pvdoor night capers. Now we need a a competitive DC population to come into the server. After that I would then probably look for 1 or 2 smaller competitive EP guilds to come in. It may look misguided to you, but this is my goal.

Not misguided. But you're living in a fantasy world if you think dc has the numbers to be competitive in every campaign like ep and ad do. :( my crew was just looking for fights minus lag and zerg.
