i dont wannt them to help in pvpTricky15_66b16_ESO wrote: »Not a 100% time follower, a la Skyrim. Hate that, specially when it makes things harder instead of making your life easy. But something like we had in Guild Wars (The first one, not GW2), the possibility of hiring a merc for a instance, for example. It will be very usefull when your group is 3 people, or two people. Of course a bot will never be as powerfull or helpfull as another player, but it may happen, a DPS goes before the last boss, or you and your guildies are 7 and can't make 2 dungeon groups... So you can hire a secondary DPS or an Offtank, or a support healer...
And it could be handy to complete difficult solo areas, specially for new players that can get stuck in certain missions, some dolmens or zone bosses. When you can't find nobody in your zone, or it's late, or...
Don't know. Something like that, it may be nice. It would not allow to make instances alone (hire just one merc at once, and only one per group, for example) but it would be better that have that creepy silent person following you around and... You know... Carrying yur burdens.

Seriously, punctuation. Reading that made my eyes hurt.
I want followers but not ones that level and not persistent ones. I want them to be temporarily hirable mercs that are leveled to us. I explain it all here : http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/146133/hirable-npc-companion-concept/p1
i dont reallys see how it would be unbalancing but im asking for opions not for stuff to hate on

I don't *need* followers with a story, but a simple merc to keep me company is a fun addition.
Not that I *need* them, either. Especially in this game, since it obviously doesn't scale itself with the number of group members or companions you have. Which is obviously the solution, too.
Seems the best way to get a question answered is to send them a ticket and then relay the info for all of us here sigh...
I vote Yes ONLY if they replace all Pets with a Follower you can get in the Crown Store.... I don't want to see a Sorc running around with 2 damage pets, another willy nilly pet and then a follower on top of that.....
This would also conflict with some of the quest mechanics where you do get a helper for the quest. Now quit multiposting, because it is possible to actually quote multiple posts into your reply window. Just click the quote button for each post you want to quote and respond to.

With a follower you are actually more powerful than without a follower. A lot of the overworld questing content is tailored to you alone, not with a buff of an AI controlled follower. This puts power scales in your favor. All of these overworld quests are already easy enough to do solo, so adding a follower would just make it a steamroll. This even goes for Cadwell's Silver and Gold zones. The follower system would unbalance the game in favor of the player right now.
I don't want to play with a follower, but if they were to implement this then raise the difficulty of everything, I would be forced to play with a follower to even the scales so I can actually do the quests. SWTOR was fun with the way they had it, but they also already had it from the beginning. The followers were an integral part of the story as well. The difficulty was balanced with the fact that you would have a follower out.
This suggestion would require lots of work and effort and practically a revamp of the whole PvE zones as they currently stand. I vote against this, because there are much better options out there that they should work on.
This would create a balance issue with the current state of PvE. If it was implemented at the start, much like SWTOR did with their companion system, then I would say it would be alright, but as it stands right now, the difficulty is really not that hard to do PvE content aside from that which you do need a group.
no offense, but if I want to play in a group in an MMO... well... I play in a group with players.
If you prefere NPCs over other players, I highly recommend to play offline RPGs instead: they tend to offer better storys AND better NPCs then MMOs.
I will never understand the Trend towards "Massive Singleplayer Online" Games...
if you were really interested in punctuation you would not have punctuated after 2 words which isn't a sentience

well i look at it like this there are 4 players if each player has a follwer lvl cap of two and each player is lvl 15 then each players combin lvl would be about 25 20 24 23
i see your point but it did work out in elder scrolls skyrimi dont reallys see how it would be unbalancing but im asking for opions not for stuff to hate on

Taking on level 15 content, right? So these 25, 20, 24, and 23 would be vastly overpowering the level 15 content. You still need to be able to level up in this game. With your suggestion, we'll be level 25 by the time we should reach Molag Bal. Then what? Grind out the levels to reach 50?
thanks for the feedback lol but i see how u (and others ) see this as a bad idea i will try to think about a way to make it workfluffycannibalb16_ESO wrote: »No, just....no. It's an MMO; we don't need followers because we have each other to play with (heehee)! That's pretty much the whole point of an MMO. Join a guild. Make some friends. Pimp yourself out in zone chat if you have to, but why - why - in all of Nirn would you think you need an NPC to help you on a game that's designed to be used as a multiplayer?

That's possibly the funniest thing I've read all day.

Nail = hammered with this point. I completely agree

I completely agree with this. Most content is crazy easy in and of itself until you need groups where you are also relying on the skill of others, which makes the grouping fun. Adding a companion would just promote more people to Not Group for things and in this game above many other MMO's I've played this is already too common. That likely stems from the amount of people who are used to the single player TES games though.
There is already a follower system in the game, where they level up and can tag along and help you out and everything. It's called other players lol. Also, some quests give npc followers.
i think it eould be cool to have custom onesArgoniawind wrote: »I am all for this totally and an Argonian follower would be perfect for me!!

I was referring to the quality of AI that controls her. Not to having an army of her appearance running around. She is worthless. None of the other main story line companions are much better. If that is what the game play would be like with Hirelings, Henchmen, Mercenaries, what ever you want to call them then I feel ZoS' time would be better spent in other areas.
