Its a small victory for those who value the work the long time players have put in.

Its not perfect but they said pots were coming - and they compromised with us. Thats an improvement in my book. However small.

I am disappointed. The VR ranks are terrible to get through. I understand others have done it I get it. But I want to play this game for the PvP and be able to compete. I can't sink my life into this game to get through these levels.

Does this really help? If you level too quickly won't quests simply grey out, at which point you get reduced XP in any case?

And won't it lead to people reaching VR before they even meet Moley?

I think they would make more money if they introduced a potion that pauses XP gain for levels 1 to 50 - can't tell you how many times I was doing grey content without getting any loot or gold because I was out leveling the zone I was in.

Yes, as I said already in this thread it'd make much more sense to reduce XP gain in the lower zones (at least up to lvl 20) - my alts have pretty much constantly been 3-4 Levels above the content they're doing. But that'd cause a Riot I Guess...

I experienced the same thing, but I understand why they can't do that. Questing in ESO is almost completely optional. You can choose to do everything and be 3-4 levels ahead (like I did) or you can do just enough to get by and be completely fine. If they reduced XP gains then they would be forcing those who don't explore and complete each zone 100% to do so in order to keep up with the content.

Classic ZoS blunder.

1-49 is already fast, and you already get more XP than you need. I just rolled a DK and he was VR1 (and 600k into it) when I killed Molag Bal.

He is now VR7 and not gaining enough per VR zone (as reported in other threads) to make a full VR level.

XP Pots are needed at VR levels, not pre-VR.

If this is what makes it to live, it will be completely useless.

1-50 is already way too fast in terms of level of content.

The Vet Ranks, however, require "Soft Grinding" (i.e. kill EVERYthing you encounter on the way between objectives, and don't avoid combat) in order to gain a level per zone.

If ESO wants to survive, it needs to come up with a way to refresh the pool of VR14 Players with new bodies, to account for lose of players due to the current lack of content and lag/encounter problems in PVE and PVP.

I had three friends who recently did the 1-50 storyline and were super excited and thought the game had a lot of potential. As soon as they hit VR1, they said "it CAN'T be as bad as people are saying it is, can it?"

Within a week of playing for 3-4 hrs a night, they had not hit VR2 yet and threw in the towel "until ZOS fixes it".

There are tons of people who feel this way, and putting a band-aid on a part of the system that isn't broken is just exacerbating the problem/falsely leading people to different expectations.

TLDR: Potion is worthless the way it is; Fix vet leveling or make it effect vet leveling.

Its not that bad really .... Can do a cp in about 20 minutes atill, multiplying that out it results,in about 200 minutes per vr orn3h20m so only playing about 1.5 hours a day you can do it in a month ...or if you cram 2 18h days in on a weekend you can be practically there. Yeah it would be grinding world mobs and competing during busy times and fairly boring...but it would be doable.

I think it's a very reasonable compromise between the idea of giving people a way to pay to help catch up, making money as a games company, and maintaining the integrity of the gameplay long-term for existing and future players.

And dont bother with the "they are removing vet ranks BS"..that is a LONG TIME COMING if ever at all.

I agree, selective reading on the part of some, this is in no way p2w and they have said more than once in the live show and other answers, changes will be coming to the vet system, but nothing is going to happen until console release they have said that a few dozen times also, I am not naïve, I know it is going to be a while if ever at all, soon to a gaming company can mean anything from a few weeks to a few years, but I wonder what people think the new system will be, instead of being called vr14 will we just be level 64, I do not see a huge revamp of the leveling system post 50, hopefully at some point they will let us in on the changes.

If this is what makes it to live it'll be a good thing. This feature appears to be for the people who are re-rolling or joining to play with friends who want to get to 50 as fast as possible so they can focus on PVP or post-50 PVE content. Not everyone is here to do all the quests on every character they have.

Those of you crying about not being able to use it for vet XP leveling would be the first in line crying to get your money back if it was, when they take vet levels away. Not allowing people to pay to level veteran ranks more quickly is a clear indication that they still intend to eliminate veteran ranks (at this time, anyway).

TL:DR version: Come on, have some common sense - it would be wrong for ZOS to allow you to pay cash to level up veteran ranks when it is scheduled for elimination.

Well it's not pay to win now. It's only pay to win if you get CP at an accelerated rate. Nobody was concerned with non vet characters getting to 50 even quicker. As a matter of fact it's sort of a non issue as even a casual player could get to 50 in a couple weeks already.

Once again, ZOS gets it backwards. Levelling to 50 and enjoying the main story quests as well as the Fighter and Mage guild quests is not the problem with this game. It's the mind numbingly boring grind of the veteran ranks. I'm a casual player with limiting time to play so it took me a very long time to finish the main story line and get to VR1. By the time I got there, almost everyone in my guild was already level VR 14 because they took advantage of the Craglorn EXP grinding raids. ZOS has nerfed EXP grinding on multiple occasions and all that accomplishes is penalizing players like me as well as new players who are trying to catch up with all the VR 14s.

The smart thing to do with EXP potions like this is apply them to everything EXCEPT Champion Points.
