Cloaks/ capes

Well allright cloaks might be good but please don't make them a piece of texture sticking out of your shoulders like in most other mmo's.

The ones showed in the video is just another mmo "cape". I hate that. I expect more than that.

I wholeheartedly agree... I want a cloak/cape that wraps around the shoulders - with or without cowls. Again, more the type of things you see in GoT, DS2, 300 etc. Badass cloaks, not some dinky bathtowel pinned to my shoulders with babypins.

Why every MMO has to have tabards and capes? Every-single-one.
There are other ways to identify yourself with a guild other than cliche tabards and bloody capes:

    - War-Banners as I have linked above
    - Mounted flags
    - Guild emblems on mount armor

    - Guild emblems on shields
    - Guild emblems engraved/embroidered on armor (on the back or front with different variations)

Seriously. Stop with that tabard and cape thing, try for once doing something different.

I believe if they do a good skeleton joints for cloaks it will be great addition, heck everybody is asking for them in the CS threat. Having cloaks, scarves, silk scarves and robes will be great as long as stay in the aesthetic of the game of course. But honestly having a cloak that is just resting in my back from my shoulders? and it doesn't have any sort of integration with the armor itself? I is not good at all.

It will be perfect if they give a little bit of love in the way they can come up with those for the armors and how can they be wrap around the armor giving the a perfect aesthetic.

Not really man on the picture is wearing a cloak. Cloaks are allright if done properly. Capes are the toilet paper stuck to your back after you wake up after a heavy party. At least thats how they look like in games.

I believe the wings serve their purpose. The imperial army is based on post-modernisation Roman army. Armor in imperial army is not supposed to look cool, it's a uniform. Wings symbolize light infantry and scouts i guess. They are not stupid but they don't look cool, true.

Thanks so much fellow ESOers that are willing to chat with me!

Cloaks and capes would be a welcome addition.
Headbands would be difficult, as there are already options for those in character creation. Numerous ones for female characters.
Scarves? I'll pass on the medieval hipsters. Making them work with the existing armors would also be hard, at least without massive amounts of clipping.

If they added scarves, they'd have to be impractically long... no, wait... that's another universe, though who am I to tell timelords where to go ;):smirk:

That said, it would be neat to have a "back" equipment slot. For capes, cloaks, back banners, oversized backpacks, trailing scarves, floating welkyn stones, heck, you could have a huge nord carrying a tiny gnome and call himself MasterBlaster... okay, maybe not that do they don't get a letter from the licenseholder to MadMax, but some other stuff to further customize our characters might be viable. And they could always turn off these visuals in cyrodil where lag is the biggest issue...

Clipping has been mentioned, and I agree, that would likely be a severa issue with most of those. Much like... the breechcloth tabard/armor part often clips nowadays?

    Then Paul Sage is boring.
A epic cloak is the only thing thats missing from making my character look epic.

The arguments against cloaks are just silly,So many old mmos have them yet eso dont,Like if eso cant have them... Eso already has physics on some armors and clothing,Think of it like that but with cloaks.

Really @Snowstrider it doesn't matter if we have capes or not, even thought it could be cool if they do it right, and not that ugly looking paper in the back that only hangs from your shoulders, I wouldn't like that alt all. I will like a more well made capes.

    200px-OB-class-Mage.jpg
    200px-OB-class-Healer.jpg

Capes that goes and are part of a clothing as a whole and can be a separated piece of cloth to that can be wearable with other clothing's as well. Hooded capes, clothing/armors that have silk scarves, hooded scarves, hooded chainmails that are also separated like the light armor hats and epaulets.

There have been sooooo many posts about capes. Somewhere in all that is an anecdote about how Paul Sage would send Incredibles clips to whichever staff was promoting capes. For those not familiar with the Incredibles, the super hero costume designer gives example after example of super heros who die tragically because of their capes. @Gidorick , if you are looking for a Paul Sage quote, I don't have it. But the above story came from ZO$ team.

Personally, I have no opinion on capes. Like I posted earlier, they are a cosmetic item, so you never know if they might turn up in the Crown $tore. I just find it both amusing and annoying that so many posts ask for this or that COSMETIC game change when there are bigger issues facing the game, like never ending, never fixed bugs and LAG, LAG, LAG.

    Thanks for the response @orboros.

I hope that when they ARE added they aren't just Crown Store items. My fear for ESO is that every single update will come from the crown store. I don't mind variations of items being in the crown store, like how we can only get horses for free but we can buy Senche Mounts and Guar in the Crown Store.

If capes are ever added, I hope we get some capes in the base game with other's in the crown store.

I'm reserving judgment on ESO, ZOS, and the whole Buy to Play change until the end of this year. I think ZOS has had their hands tied by Zenimax for the past 9 months or so. I'm hoping we get "on track" after console release.

Cloaks were in the game at one point In the video I link below you can see characters wearing capes at times: 2:28, 2:55(argonian on the left has one), 3:06 (guy in full Imperial)

    [url=https://youtube.com/watch?v=YlEipFtHw7o[/url]

So they were in the game at one point but they must have decided to scrap the idea shortly before ESO came out. A few things I'd like to point out is not everyone was wearing capes, which could mean that they might have to been hard to obtain (this could show you've done something like titles, or they could have been very rare drops)

There is also a lot of stuff in the video that was left out, tons of different abilities, flags in the courtyard of a keep, armors, etc.

one day they may bring them back, if enough people ask for em.

Ever time i see this video I chuckle, notice the elements of the Justice System in early beta and the dyed armors? Also, bring back that flip!

But yeah, to the o.p we all want capes... there isn't a single player that doesn't want capes, if someone says they don't they are just being contrary.

I don't want capes, or even cloaks, because so many people seem to think it will make them look "epic". Capes/cloaks serve a specific purpose, warmth (or perhaps sand/sun in the Alik'r Desert). They don't exist in the Elder Scrolls world to make the wearer look cool. They exist as an article of clothing to meet a need.

I have no problem with them being the focal point of a majorly popular mod in Skyrim, because they make sense in that environment. If they were added to Elder Scrolls they would only be seen as a way to make your character look more "epic". There are only a handful of locations we have available to us now that they would appear to fit the standard dress code of the environment.
