NB and vamp required?

Many of the better NBs ive come across are vamps.

It appears the intention behind this is that vamps and nbs go hand in hand. Quicker movement and escape, i dont want my toon to be a vamp as i dont like them. However it feels like a requirement as I'm using nights silence at the moment to give me the quick stealthy movement and this takes 5 pieces to achieve - which i could very easily use hundings in place of.

Do you really need quick stealthy movement? I can see where this would be good in PvP, but in PvE, I use Veiled Strike from Stealth (with or without a Cloak to lead off) to get in close real fast. I use the Aggro range of mobs in PvE to move around in normal gait.

Also, there is another set that I have come across, that reduces detection radius, which lets you get closer while stealthed, so tactically about the same as a quick closing. Nightshade only requires 3 pieces for this, and it has a necklace.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

It is not required but sneak speed is very nice, and another NB post? lol. Sypher one of the best 1vX PVP'rs is a NB and not a vamp. Go take a page out of his book. Magika AND Stamina.

Yes I'm talking about pvp. Firstly I'm not as good as Sypher, secondly my connection is terrible. E.g i was hit by 4 lethal arrows by the same person in one second.

You can only play against what you see.

Night's Silence is actually a decent set for Stamina Based NB.

The other key is using either Blur (with the mov speed morph) or Retreating Maneuvar from Assult tree to buff speed. They both have theirs pros... I like Retreating Maneuvar becuase it also removes snares and lasts a long time. The cost isn't bad if you're running at least 5 med and stacking stamina.

Also, not running Vamp lets you run Werewolf, which gives you no penalties and a 15% buff to Stam Regen.

I have werewolf and retreating manuvoeur takes a lot of stam and makes you detected.

    Right.

Blur doesn't make you detected, so you can use it while in stealth.

The key to retreating maneuver is cast, then hit Shadow Cloak.

I personally swap between both. Running solo I prefer Blur, running in groups I prefer Retreating Manuever.

1.Maybe imagine what gameplay would be with decent connection and there wouldn't be these many posts and access how connection attributes to your posts.
    2. Work towards better connection
    3. ????
    4. Profit

Yeah I'll move country for the possibility of a better connection. Thanks for your input.

I am a Khajiit Nightblade and not a Vamp, I am a werewolf though (and can be quite conflicted since this one is a cat and a dog at the same time, woe is me) and I use the nights silence set, the Shadow Walker set and Morag Tong daggers in PvP. I also use Wykkd's Outfitter and have weapons sets keybinded, Thank You to Deltia for his video.

Video link- Elder Scrolls Online Swapping Gear Easily with Wykkd's Outfitter Addon UI

Note- It did take a little trial and error and a bit of time when I set it up and I had to test it a few times to make sure I got everything correct but now it works like a charm.

    Wykkd's Outfitter Link

I also use the addon Swaps Cont. and this addon creates skill bars that you can change with just a click when you are at your skills menu.

    SWAPS LINK

You don't need to be a Vampire to be a Nightblade. Morph Blur from the Assassination Line to Double Take. upon activation of Double Take for 4 secs your movement speed will increase for 40% and Double Take does not break stealth/sneak mode when you are using it.

Retreating Maneuver is awesome for groups and horse riding and for just flat out escaping, but it does break stealth/sneak if you use it, keep this in mind. Also Quick Cloak from Dual Wield gives you movement speed as well but also breaks stealth/sneak.

If you set up your gear with Wykkds you can change your armor and weapons and ability bar's on the fly, just remember you cannot change when in combat. Go into stealth first, then change your sets.

I use this now for sneaking around Cyrodiil, then when I arrive at my spot/location I then change my armor/weapon/skill set if needed, ranged for keep defense, healer if healing behind the lines or for support or Ganker to stalk and kill prey.

    I hope this helps..

I think it depends on the build. I went WW with my Stamina build, but Magicka builds would likely succeed more with Vampire.

Then again, neither is really "required" for NB. It's just an added bonus but does have drawbacks for each one (much like anything else, there's pros/cons, no "right or wrong" way).
TL;DR - If you got this far without reading the entire post you're either too lazy or suck at reading comprehension and probably don't belong in a public forum anyway. Just move along, you wouldn't understand.

I have to agree, it's useful in PvP but then again that's where the penalties hit the hardest too. I used my NB Vamp to get every skyshard in Cyrodil with about 3 deaths. It was fun being move faster than normal speed while stealthed, and I got a lot of kills (and avoided a lot of deaths) sneaking around people in the dungeons.

In PvE, it's not made much of a difference at all. Once you learn aggro radius pretty well you can ride or sprint through most areas in the game. I'm playing up a new nightblade and I went Vamp again. Honestly I'll probably drop it for Werewolf after I get all the Cyrodil shards.
