Should Crown Store motifs be bound?

In most of the MMOs I've played, cash shop items are usually bound on account to prevent simply reselling them for gold profit. If crown-store bought are bound, most of the issues like economy inflation and cash-to-gold conversions aren't a problem. You should really only be buying them to use and not to trade anyway.

For clarification, regular looted motifs would still be tradeable, the ones bought in the Crown store would just be bound.

Nope sorry, for around a year, motif selling was one of the main ways to generate gold, and if you find motifs that you already have, and friends/alts/guild members don`t need them, then selling them is the best option.

And its hardly wasting your cash on "easily be acquired", really?, do you know how hard it is to find an Imperial Motif?, took me ages to find one, so it`s hardly easy.

There has been a market for motifs for absolutely ages.

And it is a lot harder to find motifs now thanks to the Justice system.

It takes just a few hours of stealing and pickpocketing to get enough mony to even buy the Imperial motif from a guild store. And, to be honest, the justice system didn't make finding motifs any harder at all.

Lol well you and I must be playing a different game then:}, a few hours to get enough gold to buy a imp motif? really? there is a limit to how much you can fence or launder every day, and also, most imp motifs at relatively current prices are at least 85K, that is a lot of stealing/pickpocketing to get that.

Finding rare motif books due to the Justice system is difficult, finding motifs are easy at any time, pre justice and currently, but getting the good ones that generate gold for you is harder.

You can't make Imperial Items for others if you don't have the Motif. Converting something to Imperial bound it to your account.

It is a little strange, but in the rare case of people without the Imperial Edition making another race their primary crafter, they need only the motif, the IE won't actually give them what they want. Because otherwise they'd either only be able to convert, which makes the item bound so you can't sell it, or have to create a new Imperial crafter, but relearning traits would take forever.

$50 for the rare motif bundle is equally absurd.

If they don't get their pricing in line soon the cash shop is going to have the opposite effect they were hoping for. Between the lame stuff and the ridiculous prices the crown store is in the fast lane to becoming a huge let-down.

The upgrade doesn't allow you to actually craft Imperial. It only allows you to convert the style of your gear to Imperial. Doing so binds it to your account though so you can't convert items and then resell. If you want to sell Imperial crafted gear in-game, you need the motif.

There will be an impact on the economy because potential buyers may go to the crown store instead. But no matter how drastic it is it's inconsequential next to letting players buy items with real money and sell them for gold, which removes ZoS's ability to regulate the economy when necessary by controlling drop rates or the flow of gold.

Yes, but if you already have a master crafter, you're not going to want to relearn all the traits. This only works for older players, though. New players will just buy the IE, it's true (unless they really don't like playing as an Imperial).

Yes, I think they should be bound. I think it could potentially affect the economy too much if players were able to spend crowns on motifs and then sell them to other players.

Yes, they absolutely need to be bound. Otherwise people can buy anything that can be bought for gold in the game for real money now.

Example of what will happen if they are not bound: Somebody buys 2 Imperial motifs from the crown store for 10k crowns and sell them for gold to other players then buys a Ring of the Shadow Walker with that gold. Voilà, somebody has just bought a piece of powerful endgame gear for real money 100% legit.

Well, that explains why I havent found a blue motif since before TU. They lower the drop rate so that they can sell them...nice one ZO$.

Simple explanation: Motifs from the Clown Store ARE account bound.

I think you need to read the poll topic. He is talking about Crown Store motifs. Those will be intentionally bought, not found, which negates your reasoning.
