    Hello @zole !

Players who purchased their copy of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited on Steam can purchase Crown Packs from the Steam store. Once they have purchased the pack, players will receive a code to be redeemed on their ESO:TU accounts. To do so, they should log into their account at https://account.elderscrollsonline.com and click on Redeem Code underneath the Account Summary.

IMPORTANT: Players can only purchase one of each kind of Crown Pack from the Steam store once every two weeks.

For example, if players purchase the Crown Pack that comes with 5,500 crowns, they WOULD NOT be able to buy any more Crown Packs that contain 5,500 crowns for two weeks. However, they WOULD still be able to purchase a Crown Pack that contains 3,000 crowns, a Crown Pack that contains 1,500 crowns, and a Crown Pack that contains 750 crowns.

Players with a Steam copy of the game can still purchase an ESO Plus membership from The Elder Scrolls Online PC/Mac Store.

If you purchased a Steam key from a third party vendor and not through Steam directly, you are unfortunately unable to purchase crowns from there.

We are currently investigating this issue, and hope to have a solution to this soon. Once we have a solution in place, we will be back in touch as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience!

This confuses me. Why would we be limited in buying crown packs? I feel like that kinda defeats the whole making money thing lol! If someone wishes to spend lots of money, why hinder that ability?

Yep I have the same problem.
Bought the key in good faith from G2.com game was fine np, but when I went to buy gold " you do not qualify for this product" .
I got in contact with support here by phone, and they checked my key it was a Steam key, sold by Steam to G2, but not usable through Steam only through ESO.

Got in touch with G2 who say it is not a Steam key, so now I have escalated the problem, and I hope I can get my money back, at least.
Now I'm asking what give Steam the right to sell keys to companies like G2 when they have an agreement, or contract with Zen, and at half the price, so yea learnt my lesson will not be buying from these grey companies anymore.
It's a wonder there are not a few lawsuits going around, and us players always get the crud end of the stick.
After all we just want to play the game.

Hmm, I think I'm suffering from the same issue. Does this mean we're going to miss out on that cool mount? Is there a chance it'll be fixed in time, or an extension to its availability perhaps? Fingers cross.

Steam, the company, won't have anything to do with this mess. It will be end users abusing the Steam Store to buy numerous copies of the game (probably using stolen accounts or creditcard details, hence the low price), which they then use to generate ESO keys that they sell to G2A.

The keys are valid, but they were never intended for resale and the ESO account system assumes that if you redeem one of these keys on the ESO website you are also the owner of the Steam account it came from. G2A are just a marketplace and as long as the keys work they don't really care where they came from. Too often this results in customers like yourself getting screwed over and it causes legitimate stores (like Steam & Origin) and game companies a lot of trouble as well.

In cases of key fraud game companies have to decide whether or not to revoke game keys tied to purchases that got charged back and they're truly damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they do revoke the keys it leads to bad press and angry customers, but if they don't revoke the keys people will think everything's fine and keep buying keys from the resellers.

Ultimately you should always be cautious when buying from any reseller, whether it be a site like G2A or a random person on Ebay. If a deal looks too good to be true, there is a high chance that the keys were obtained in a shady manner. Keys are normally only very cheap if the game has either been out for a while, if there's a large excess of boxed copies or if there's different region where the game is much cheaper. In all other circumstances there's a high likelihood of fraud and it's most frequent with brandnew triple A releases, because the high demand insures a quick turnaround time (ergo the keys are sold before anyone realizes they're fraudulent, by which point the seller is long gone).

I'm keeping an eye on this thread because I have the same problem with the crown shop.

Thank you, Amarinth, for your interesting posting and information. If I had known the problems that come with it, I would not have bought the key from a reseller. You live and learn.

Are there any updates on this issue? I would love to give ESO my hard earned money to buy some crowns and I know my wife would also. Please give us a way to do this.

@ZOS_MollyH I know it's done when it's done but some information about the status would be nice. :)

    Greetings,

Our apologies for the delay. If you did not purchase ESO from Steam directly, you will need to return to the retailer you purchased from for any refunds or exchanges.

If you did not purchase your copy of ESO from Steam, you will not be able to use crowns purchased through Steam.

We have no further updates regarding any changes to this at this time. Thank you for your patience.

Sorry for the late reply, and Amarinth thax for the info.

Well a lot has happened since I had this problem.
I have been fighting G2A for a refund, but no dice even tho I produced evidence that ESO was, so kind to send telling me it was a Steam key, of course G2A deny this.

Didn't think I would here from ESO support at all, as I left my phone number with them, and could not believe it when they called me here in the UK.
They were really supportive, but alas nothing can be done, but I would just like to say a "BIG THANK YOU" to them for taking time out to phone me.

G2A are spose to have a 100% guarantee, but it's not worth the print, so stay well away from them guy's, and any like them, as the old saying go'es, "Once Bitten twice Shy".
G2A had the nerve to say the evidence I produced was not enough, as the e-mail should of had the key code written in it.
Well I wont print here what I said, but suffice to say I turned the air blue, and the phone red :)).

I will now buy the full version from ESO at the full price I have had enough of these criminal companies.
Once again thax guys for all the info, not forgetting support as well.
I'll see you ingame with a proper copy this time :)).
    Take Care all the best.
