    my card is old?

    i have a GTX970...............

but i'll try to disable DX11 and use DX9!

update: nope. Dx9 won't even run on my Win8.1 64 bit...

Ahh sorry, I thought you were running a 260.. 970 is great.

You're trying to get sweetfx running with eso? I actually used some custom distribution of sweetfx, not the official one from guru3d, sounds like there actually may have been some interesting differences.. Try the link from here.. https://www.gamemodi.net/

Clean up all the sweetfx files you've added there and extract the files from the sweetfx archive from that site.. that would be exactly what I did for mine. Ps. You don't need the launcher anymore really since they added fov sliders into the game itself now. It seems to know too much about your keyboard also.. so best keep these things to a minimum and not use them if they're not needed out of principle, though I do remember many people vouching for it on tamriel foundry when it was first released.

The pop ups you discover have zero to do with the game, its your hardware. And before you start with "but ... and ... my 2k rig..." this all doesn't matter.

Pop ups are a result of queued processes of our CPU & GPU. Our GPUs that work with DX11 only allow one single process to be handled at a time. So for instance, your GPU does work on the lightning, then on the shadows, then on the foliage, then on textures of the floor ... At the same time our CPU´s are unable to utilize our GPUs to such a degree that they don't have any "wait time", as we simply put are stuck in a CPU overhead.

All the money in the world wont change anything until ESO is optimized for DX12 and you guys have adequate hardware to run it.

Naah that's gotta be an engine thing.. there's plenty of really detailed games for both dx9 and 11, its very possible to make a game that doesn't pop in like that. Play around the with draw distance slider.. though when you turn that up your framerate crashes for no reason (and leaves the gpu unused) so.. I have mine set somewhat low at 40 and just live with it. When you're playing rather than benchmarking (which sure one does) you don't notice it.

so just copy paste and that's it?

update: haha, ok, so it gave me the error BUT the game still loads.... until it loads my char. it's all BLACK SCREEN. lol... i tried to login but everything (except the UI) is black.

    getting closer... :p

update: holy smokes it works. i used the previous poster's settings and actually forgot to disable AA Transparency override from nvidia control panel. now its working!

but... any way to toggle on and off? i KNOW it looks different but just wondering if i can see before/after.

    THANKS EVERYONE!

update: NO, it's not the AA Transparency Multisampling that's causing the black screen. It's the DSR!! Back to 1080 and its all good!
now to play around with SweetFX settings....

Lots of useful info in this thread. I knew about the minus mip numbers but not the other setting tweaks! My game looks fabulous now! :)
RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

Hm it worked for me in Win 8.1 but my GFX card is only a GTX260 just takes time to load but it does look a lot better.

Just turned it back down tho cause I keep dying waiting on stuff to load.

I just tried it again and still throwing error.

Can anyone post the EXACT step-by-step? I got the configurator, add ESO (it adds SweetFX folders n files), made the changes (or load the preset from the post above), and hit Launch game.... it tries to start ESO then this...

    16ae1jl.png

PS: Which folder u guys drop SweetFX?? I put it where it has ESO.exe...

The file I linked is all you need. From there you can manually edit the ini file if you want it to look different.
So try that and see at least if it works.

FYI occasionally after the client starts, it hangs for about two seconds and if I hit a mouse button you get the Windows 'do you want to close, wait for program to respond' message. Leave it be, it will launch.

Also, run the client directly - don't go through the patcher. SweetFX and Xpadder didn't respond properly for me when using the launcher.
