    How do you get the menus without using the mouse/keyboard? This is the part that so far for me has made using a controller a non option. I've installed XPadded and Pinnacle, but with both setups that I've tried, I still need to reach for the keyboard and mouse to navigate the menus. I would really love to know if someone has an answer.

    You're just going to have to ignore players stating they play ESO right now with a controller. Doing so is totally uncomfortable and nearly impossible to play at even half the effectiveness as with a mouse and keyboard. Mainly due to how poorly ESO's controls play when emulated by a product like pinnacle. Even with addon's like straightjacket and dozens of hours invested in tweaking pinnacle profiles, the controls are still to clumsy, and the user interface is still too difficult to control.
    End the tedious inventory management game.

    I was just about to take advantage of the $20 deal to play on console when I read that I'd be forced on a different server and away from friends?

    Is this true, and if so; why would anyone do that?

    You are not forced to a different server.
    Your current account is Copied to another server (not moved).

    You still can enjoy playing PC version with your old friends and console version with the new friends and it is up to you to decide how much time you will allocate to each platform.

    And here is the reason they do this: the release of the console version was delayed for almost a year and to ameliorate the community frustration(and at the same time to bring more players into the game) they promised way back that there will be offered the option to copy the PC progress to the Console server so the Console players could start playing the PC version instead of waiting. And it was known and announced from the beginning that the PC and Console players will play on different servers.

    Now it is up to you to decide either you stick with your friends or with your favorite gaming platform or a little bit of both.

    Should the game come out on Console, absolutely. The more the merrier I say.

    However given the choice, I would play this game on the PC any day over the console. Simply because of Addon's. As others have stated, you can use a controller if you want on the PC, and you can hook your PC up to the TV in the living room if you want to be on the couch. Plus the game is probably going to be better graphically on the PC (but probably not a huge difference there)

    I think the only reason to transfer is people can play with their friends who do not have a gaming PC. Because anyone on the console who has gotten addicted, I mean used to, Addon's is going to be in for a harsh transition.

    I cant imagine people on console being as competitive in endgame PvE as PC is l, so i expect a more casual atmoshpere in the console realm.

    Hey all,

    I've uploaded my Pinnacle Profile for this game. Notes, as well.

    Don't let pecheckler make up your mind on this one, although I can respect his opinion: It's not for everyone and yeah, of course, menus are going to be easier to navigate with keyboard and mouse.

    I have provided menu navigation in my profile as a core functionality. It works. General gameplay, though, is a lot smoother and more enjoyable for me with this profile, and I have no handicap playing.

    Check it out if you're interested: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/164626/download-my-xbox-360-controller-profile-for-pinnacle-game-profiler#latest

    Which is a considerable downgrade I don't understand. All the same I hope they'll enjoy the game on console more, I guess.

    What's not to understand? Sofa + controller + TV = comfort.
    Chair + desktop + mouse/keyboard = not comfortable.

    Should Zenimax step it up and release controller support and associated UI on PC before console launch, we'll see far less people switch to a console.

    I play with my PC with sofa + controller + TV. Every game.

    The console version is all this effort just to port a buggy game to make a version with worse graphics and frame-rate, all so that people can do what I'm already doing with the game. :/

    Seriously, though, the best that can be hoped for is that it brings in more money for future development.

    I feel like any plan to allow for the transfer of non-account bound items without destroying the version on the PC servers will lead to major exploits. Imagine players borrowing high value items from friends right before the transfer and then sending the items back upon transfer. People can transfer with ridiculous amounts of valuable items. This is even worse if people can do account transfers on-demand. (This would also be the reason why individual character transfers should not be allowed).

    And that doesn't include those who benefited from exploits transferring their character as-is.

    So I would not assume that exploits would have a lesser effect.

    Your best option right now is straitjacket add-on with pinnacle profile. However it still is rather clunky.

    You probably will not get a setup where you don't need to touch a keyboard at all until the native controller support releases. Most people will always be at a disadvantage to keyboard users though. Then it is a choice. Comfort or maximum efficiency.

    You'll end up coming back to PC anyway once all the kids have got bored after a month, there'll be no one to play with.

    The last MMO I spent as much time as ESO in, PSU, lived for over a year longer on Xbox 360 than PC. April 2011 they shut down the PC servers, and September 2012 the Xbox servers.

    I think it will be the same with this. You have to keep in mind that on console, ESO has pretty much no competitors at all, and not just that, but TES games have always sold better on consoles.

    It has to compete with FFXIV ARR which is phenomenal on consoles right now. However Elder Scrolls is a different type of mmo compared to the traditional straight up grouping themepark. So it won't have to compete directly imo.

    The two feel night and day different to me which before ESO came out. Many mmos felt similar to me.

    For combat the controller, for menus and chat i reach for the keyboard near me and press escape or I or any other button I need.

    Left trigger= shift mode
    right trigger= Lshift
    right shoulder= left-click
    left shoulder= right-click
    Left stick= arrow keys
    left stick button = for dodge
    right stick= mouse/camera

    Thats not limited to a console. Lol. Nowadays you can play games on pc the same way as on consoles. There's almist no difference. Except pcs have more power :p

    Yeah, I'll never understand the resistance out there to understand what a PC provides for gaming.

    Most PC games on console now natively support the 360 controller. They also give control options.

    For those that don't, as mentioned, there are programs like XPadder and Pinnacle (the best) that are very cheap and allow 100% complete control customization, on par with console controls.

    Right now, I play this game with my Pinaccle profile that I made, which is superior to mouse and keyboard (in my opinion) in terms of accessing actions via muscle memory for combat, smoothness for looking around, and overall play satisfaction. It has everything mapped. It's all inclusive. When I want to type in chat, I just rest the controller on my couch or table that has my mouse and keyboard. I have my PC connected to an HDTV, and I sit back and enjoy the nearly maxed graphics and 60 fps, which consoles rarely provide.

    In a nutshell, a game console is not some special game-playing device; it's just a *** PC that overheats, offers no customization. and provides poor graphics and frame-rate. EDIT: Even more, a *** PC that only does a very specific set of things poorly.

    Consoles may not have all the customization, mods, etc but they also are standardized experiences. Meaning every single sole in the game has access to the exact same features, screens, ui, etc and is all completely even.

    Also consoles may not have the power a top end pc does but they have more power then the average persons pc does. yeah gamers with nothing better then to spend a crap ton of money on pc's every single year will output all consoles at all time but the average person doesn't. They buy that laptop that looks great, the pc that was on sale, the mac because apple, whatever and end up with barely better or often worst then current gen consoles.

    Not to mention its a lot easier to tell the wife you're going to spend 500 every few years on a console that you can use while sitting next to her on the couch then 1500+ on a gaming rig that ill end up having sitting in my office and have to play games on in a different room.

    PS - xbox 360 had heating issues but i have yet to have issues with my xbox one or ps4....

    That bolded and italicize, thoooo. Feel bad if that is you. xD

    I used Xpadder + xbox controller before
    Set 1(Combat Mode)

    Left trigger= Block
    Right Trigger= Attack
    Left Shoulder= 4
    Right Shoulder= 5
    Left Stick= Arrow Keys
    Left Stick Button= Jump
    Right Stick= Mouse/Camera
    Right Stick Button= Sprint
    X= 1
    Y= 2
    B= 3
    A= dodge roll(combine with left stick to determine direction)
    Back= Map
    Start= Journal
    Dpad right= Weapon Swap
    Dpad up= Ultimate
    Dpad left= Quickslot
    Dpad down= Shift Mode

    Second Set: (Exploration/Interactions)

    Left trigger= Character
    Right Trigger= Skills
    Left Shoulder= Autorun
    Right Shoulder= Sneak
    Left Stick= Arrow Keys
    Left Stick Button= Jump
    Right Stick= Mouse/Camera
    Right Stick Button= Sprint
    X= 2nd choice in dialogue
    Y= 3rd choice in dialogue
    B= Cancel/ Cancel conversation
    A= Interact/ 1st choice in dialogue
    Back= Map
    Start= Journal
    Dpad right= Mount
    Dpad up= Inventory
    Dpad left= Quickslot
    Dpad down= Shift Mode

    I still had to use keyboard some for menu stuff and inventory with xpadder, needing shift modes suck, and still clunky. The pinnacle w/ strait jacket is better but still not perfect.

    Console is better for ragers. Chances you will get up and throw your console across the room is slim compared to a PC which can be table flipped or thrown against a designated target much easier in a moment of rare but documented skooma rage.

    Dunno for 15 euro you should buy it. Maybe let your family or friends play it on the ps4.

    I am surprised that nobody has brought this up, so let me just point out one clear advantage with consoles: cheating is very difficult, close to impossible, in a console game. You can still find exploits, and grief other players by being a general jerk if you are so inclined, but the software and all data files are locked down and can't be changed by a mere mortal. The downside of this is that you can't modify your game experience beyond the tweaking provided by the publisher. The good thing is that hacking is virtually nonexistent.

    As has been discussed in this forum a few times before, the locked-down nature of consoles might make it possible for ZOS to revert their netcode to what it was around launch, when massive battles actually worked. Soon after launch, they had to add tons of server checks for movement and damage to prevent cheating, and that might be what killed the PvP performance. On consoles, PvP could possibly be just fine. Possibly.

    That's not true either. The segregation is forced by MS, not Sony. There are MMOs like FFXIV ARR that are cross-plattform. Sony said before, on many occasions, that they have no problem letting the PS4 players play with players on Windows or the Xbox.

    Square Enix (FFXIV ARR) said, that they will never release ARR for the Xbox One, as long as they have to seperate the playerbase for that. ZeniMax/Bethesda doesn't have enough balls for that ... they don't wanna risk to *** of MS (and that's understandable). Same with the needed Xbox Live and PS+ subscription. Sony is open for agreements to let people play MMOs like DCUO and ARR without a PS+ subscription, MS is not ... so ZeniMax is frightend to *** of MS and instead of letting PS4 players play without PS+, they dropped the agreement with Sony so that the general public isn't asking "why do Xbox players need Xbox Live Gold but PS4 players don't need PS+?".

    It's just business ... publisher 1 is kneeling before MS, publisher 2 is kneeling before the players ... both have good reasons for what they are doing.

    The point:
    To get an extra $20 from you after a self imposed delay.

    Before, they were just going to get $60-$80 from you. They got $60 from you in addition to any subscription costs they gathered at roughly $14.99 a month. In addition to those fees, they were also able to grab an extra $20 out of your pocket as well.

    So considerate.

    $60 vs $60 + Accrued Sub Costs + $20

    Of course they could offer the transfer for free.
    On the other hand, they could just say, there is no transfer at all.

    So if you bought the PC version because you planned to play on PC and later decided to switch, then now you have the chance to transfer for $20 instead of buying the game again and starting over a second time.

    So for me it is not $60 vs. $60 + Subs +20$, it is $60 + Subs + $20 vs. $60 + Subs + another $60, as I never planned to play on console at release, but now changed my mind.
