You should visit islands - the place where you end up with after tutorial is not the first zone. For example, in DC you end up in Glenumbra, while first zones are Stros M;Kai and Betnikh. So go to the port and find the ship to the island whatever is the start island in your location.

No absolutely not. You don't need extra XP. You're likely missing a bunch of things.

I HIGHLY recommend going to esoui.com and downloading the Minion interface and searching for and download the add-on called Destinations.

Destinations shows you everything on the map in every zone, specifically things you haven't physically discovered yet.

Chances are you missed some of the following: Dolmens, World Bosses, Points of Interest, Crafting Stations, Public and Group Dungeons.

Destination shows you all of these and more, including: Quest Hubs, Achievement locations for achievements like I Like M'aiq and others as well as Mundus Stones.

So you don't need to subscribe most likely, you just missed some things that give you a hefty chunk of XP, like Dark Anchors(Dolmens) and World Bosses.

I find this impossible to believe. I am lv 18 and still haven't even left Stonefalls. I'm not even all the way done with the quests either before moving on to the next zone. I'd recommend getting an add on that shows all the quest givers if you are having this much difficulty finding each of them so that you can be at the right level. Doing mages/fighters quests along with Harborage and the quests in the starter zone alone should Easily put you at lv 16 before heading to the next zone. One of my main gripes was that I level too fast in each zone to make searching for quests something that I care to do on alts. I'll guarantee there are quests you've missed out there.

Make sure that a) the maps of the zones you are and were in are evenly covered with markers for quest objectives, delves, vistas, anchors, and world bosses, and b) they're all marked as done. Given this, there's only a very small chance for leaving the zone underleveled.

Explore. Go off the beaten path (or better yet, avoid paths at all), don't try to just oscillate between quest giver and objective. This game rewards exploration. Quite literally, because the chests that are hidden everywhere give a good amount of XP and gear to boot.

P.S.: Installing an addon that spoils the map for you is of course your decision, but a) it's not needed, and b) the gratification of finding things on your own will be greater without it.

If you're discovering every location, doing every delve, and doing every quest then even if you skip many of the dolmens, world bosses, public and group dungeons, not only is it impossible to be under-leveled, but starting after the first full zone (Auridon for Aldmeri Dominion characters) you should consistently be at least 2 levels over all of the content.

What level were you when you completed Khenarthi's Roost? If you did everything there then you should have been about level 8 by the time you were done. By the time you've done everything in Auridon you should be at least level 16, and more likely around level 18.

Have you been skipping the delves? Most of them don't have quests associated with them (although some have quest starters inside them), but if you're skipping them then that may be why you're missing XP. The mobs in delves give less XP than overworld mobs, but combined with the XP you get for killing the delve boss and completing the delve, it adds up. Not to mention that each of them has a skyshard in it.

I'm always 3-4 levels beyond the content and I sneak past mobs all the time so I'm having a hard time relating to your situation. With that said, I'd suggest focusing on a single weapon skill line (if you haven't already) and invest in heavy armour, the higher skill level translate to better damage and protection.. and heavy armour will at least help you out while you're learning the ropes.

That will help you out if you encounter any difficulty spikes (like you're experiencing at the moment).

I suspect you'll find that a lot of those red Xs have quests associated with them. Like other Elder Scrolls games, ESO won't lead you to all of the quests and such if you just follow the main questline of your alliance. You need to explore a lot to find everything in each zone.

You could find a quest partner as a group of 2 players gives 110% of XP for everything for both players regardless of ESO Plus. With two person groups it makes the mobs a lot easier to manage as well as dispatch quicker. Faster kills means more experience gained while questing  . Try and keep it to a 2 person group tho as the more people you add the XP will go down to compensate.

Yes, i had to go into the dungeon to get a questmarker, i ignored all the buildings and dungeons all the time because i thought i dont need to go in there because they will be part of the mainquest or something like that. I hagve never been so wrong.

    ^ This.

I'm VR8 (almost VR9) in a VR6 zone. There is plenty of XP to be had lol. I was about 8 levels overlevelled by level 45.

Definitely just have fun, kill world bosses more than once if they're their, try out PvP, or even just try questing there, do group dungeons etc.

Yes, there is the Main Quest for the Zone, and the game pretty much tells you where to go for that.

Then there are all the side quests, which probably add up to the same amount of Exp that the MQ gives you, depending on how many mobs you kill.

Also, one thing the Destinations mod won't show you are the side quests that you pick by finding something in a Delve. Almost every delve has something that starts a small side quest. Those add up too.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Another thing to do before moving to another zone is open up the achievements and check those. The quest achievement shows how many you've completed for that zone and how many you have left to get the achievement. Like others have mentioned, complete all the Dolmens, Delves and World Bosses you can before moving zones. You can always request help at any of those in the Zone chat. There are tons of people who like to solo but will jump in and help out on those

Glad to hear it! It's a good thing you asked now rather than after going through another zone. You're still low enough level that you should still be getting loot drops and such from almost any mobs you might fight in the places you missed. If you had waited to ask until you were, say, level 16 and part of the way through Grahtwood then going back to some of the places you missed would feel somewhat meaningless as you'd be fighting mobs 5+ levels below you, and not getting any XP or loot for them.

The absolute BEST way to level in this game is doing all of the dungeons on all three of the alliances. Not only do you level up quickly, you get some pretty nice loot and stock up on a ton of potions.

You should be glad you are underleveled. The game is much, much too easy as it is. Once you are higher level, you will look back on your noob days and wish you had known and cherished this.
