Content removed?

So with the new upgrade I've noticed that content was removed or changed. For example, the Wailing Prison starter dungeon has been completely redone. I'm kind of torn between liking it on the one hand because it's more efficient now and the loss of some background knowledge (the entire discussion with the Argonian about what Soul Shriven are and so on) that I felt added more depth to the game.

But now that I'm into the game (DC Faction), I notice that certain characters have been completely deleted. The two I'm think were background filler so they weren't really doing any harm (or adding all that much either) but why go to the work to remove them? The one I'm thinking of is the guy who leaves Stros M'Kai to follow Jakkarn on his "adventures". And there's another character on Betnikh that I think has been removed as well.

I've no strong feelings one way or the other, but just curious why the content was removed.

The wailing prison content wasn't really removed, it was just completely redone. I personally enjoy it more, as it is more efficient and actually teaches you more of the skills/mechanics you use in game, of course, it is personal opinion.

I don't recall the other two NPC's you are referring to though :( If they were removed, not sure why they would be.

Fair enough. I'm not hating the new Wailing Prison design and can certainly see how it might be more useful to new players. I pre-ordered ESO but haven't played for about three or four months, so I can't really say when the changes were made. I assumed with the release of the Tamriel Unlimited upgrade but I might be wrong.

Also, there is no interaction now with Er-Jaseen (he has one line of shouted dialog) so when you get his armor as a drop, it's like: "What? Who is Er-Jaseen?" So his character is basically removed as well - again not sure why?

In regards to the missing Argonian ZOS could always add him back in somewhere leaning on a wall or some such, just to reinject the soul shriven information.

Try doing a /feedback in game and adding the suggestion.

Yeah, overall I think the Wailing Prison changes are good, and result in a much better flow to the tutorial. I think it hits a better balance of letting you know what's going on, while also letting you get on with learning how to play the game. There are a couple of changes that they made to it that I don't think are necessarily improvements, but overall I think it's way better now.

Wait, he's gone now? Dang, I liked that guy! He was a little bit tragic in that he obviously had such a huge unrequited crush on Jakkarn, but I thought his presence really added to Jakkarn's mystique.

I've completed the Bethnikh quest line yesterday and I'm 100% sure he wasn't deleted. I have spoken with him on Kaleen's ship, when we arrived in Daggerfall. Maybe he doesn't appear if you take Kaleen's side? Because I sided with Lambur.

    That's today's screenshot.

Or maybe you were talking about another guy? Because you said "Stros M'Kai". Or was he removed from there and now he appears only after Bethnikh?

They might have removed some stock NPCs because the Justice System added so many new NPCs to the game.

However, just wait until you get into the new Delves, those are so much nicer and bigger than they were before.

I thoroughly enjoy the redone delves, as it still has a loop to it, but I can start going either direction, and not feel like its a turnstile.

Nope, that is the guy. I reloaded my game a moment ago and he's not on the boat with Kaleen and the others upon our arrival in Bethnikh. Really, I've looked everywhere now. I also don't think he was there when we sailed ... but maybe I just missed him. I did talk to everyone on the boat.

I'll see if he resurfaces after I've finished at Bethnikh.

The argonian's dialogue is still in the tutorial, but now it's given by Lyris after your first encounter with the Prophet. As far as I remember the actual dialogue is the same.

And that NPC is still in the game, in both Stros M'kai and Betnikh, but his appearance might depend on the choices you make. I'm not sure what exactly affects it though because I've only played it once so far.

I love the new Wailing Prison, seems darker and more like what a Daedric prison would be.

I think he's still there. I seem to recall seeing him, just not talking to him last time I went through. It was a few weeks ago however, so I may be mistaken.

Okay, so tested this last night and when we got back to Daggerfall, Mojall was on the boat. Funny thing is, I would have sworn he was originally on the boat when you were assisting Bethnick, with some dialog about "you wouldn't understand, it's a guy thing ..." or something. Maybe I'm just misremembering.

I ran another test last night of this. So you're running through the Prison and you encounter a daedra. Defeat the daedra. The prophet appears and gives a brief message (the player's first encounter with the prophet). Lyris says, "Hold up," and you have a conversation.

That dialog is her dialog from the original tutorial and does not include any of Er-Jaseen's dialog. I would be surprised if it was given to Lyris since Zeni would have re-record the dialog in her voice, etc.

It's not a biggie, just curious that they removed it.

I liked the new Wailing Prison, though I think that the former "open area" (that seemed like a huge soul-shriven slums) was nicer... I also liked the old prophet's cage more, though the new animation certainly makes up for it.

The only thing I really, really miss is this line: "You must hurry. With the passing of time, any indecision becomes decision!"

It was one of my favorite lines in the game... and now it's gone forever.

Oh, and talking about "removed content", just wanted to say that we should get a button to "change" the appearance of a crafted item between variants of that same style. This would allow the old Redguard and Orc styles to still be in the game, everyone would be happy and we would have more choices. And you know what they say: "the more, the merrier". So, let's say you pick chestplate armor... style Redguard... a small button next to style (I imagine two arrows in a circle) allows you to change the variant.

Not only this would give more options and make nostalgic people happier, this would also allow ZOS to put Jerkin and Robe in the same item (to fit the overall design properly) AND also would allow player crafted skirts (since skirts are currently dropped only, we can only craft leggings :( )

Did you save them with your new character? The NPCs from the starter islands stories are tied to your decisions.

Yes, this really pissed me off. I showed up at the discussion late and didn't want to beat a very dead horse, but yeah that change was annoying. Reading through the forum, I guess I could see the part about the heavy armor (maybe) but the new light and medium Redguard armor looks ugly. Sorry to say that, but there it is.

I had a character modeled after the Saintsport Bandits and when I logged in and saw the change in her armor, I was like hell no! and deleted her.
