I love how everyone really starts complaining when maintenance takes longer than expected. This is normal. This happens on every MMO that exists. Some maintenance times take less than others. Patches take longer than regular maintenance times. It's a fact of life.
For those of you who think they know how it should work, I'd love to know which companies you have worked for who run and maintain an MMO. I'd also love to see these flawless executions of maintenance and updates that you have successfully completed. Maybe then those that are like myself can believe that there is indeed no reason for these waits.
Until that time, pull out one of your many other games, enjoy them or watch a movie, and keep checking in for more updates later. Now back to some Ocarina of Time for me.
true, but still, an " its taking longer then expected" and an eta would be nice, instead of lets not say anything until there is a riot on the forums lol

How often does the launcher refresh that the server is online? It shows as offline on one computer, online on another.

Why?
Downtime should be near non-existent.
Players play on build A while build B is being patched.
When build B s ready, you send out a message that the client needs a restart. They download a patch and are back in game on build B within minutes.
This is 2015, antiquated methodologies have no place here.
Maybe it's not the build as much as it is the maintenance?
Maintenance is usually 2-3 hrs, not 5 hrs and counting
You're not in IT are you?
I am. If I took the servers offline for 5 hours for basic maintenance they would find another guy to run the IT dept. Where I work the minute the servers go offline the phones start ringing. If the servers were down for 5 hours the people who answer the phones would have killed me at the 4th hour.
So my patcher says the server is online but I am unable to log in. It's not my internet because I'm typing this message now.
