Why all new players should roll Aldmeri Dominion

Although I mainly rolled EP to join my friends (who only know Skyrim but, to be honest, one of my friends also has viking blood in him so I can't blame him for playing EP) (snip)

I have viking blood in me as well, and it was a tough choice between EP or DC. Can't stand elves.

I rolled DC mainly because of 1996's Daggerfall which I loved. I suspect a lot of people rolled EP because of Skyrim and Morrowind and AD because a lot of people have an elf fetish.
Guilty as charged, I did indeed roll EP for my RP characters due to Morrowind. I mean, I liked TES:Daggerfall... but I loved TES:Morrowind! I still hope that someday they might add vvardenfell to ESO... dunmer all the way, me.

And half the alts I made before I learned that you get to play each story with every chaeracter anyways, so if I had known, I'd have made them all in EP I guess. Maybe.

As for fractions... I'd say, if AD has most population and best PvP, then it'd be a good reason NOT to go there, since the others need more fresh me... uhm... I mean, reinforcements.

A for how the fraction stories go...

I always enjoyed EP most due to its strong "defence against external threats" theme, of the starting isles and five map stories, five out of the six are outside baddies with fleeing from a covenant invasion at bleackrock, defending against the same invasion in stonefalls (and fixing the resulting events), an dominion babykiller incursion in shadowfen, then helping against a covenant sponsored civil war in eastmarch, and finally fighting reachmen necromancer attacks throughout the rift - all of that made me more symphatetic to the pact, and view the others as nasty threats.

DC was classical fantasy-ish, with traditional skullduggery in stros m'kai, reachmen zombie masters and their doggies in glenumbra, dream demon cults to battle in stormhaven, vampires to deal with in rivenspire, desert necromancers in the alik'r and finally fending off a combined reachmen/imperial threat in bangkorai. Nice enough, some nifty settings, though couldn't quite make me feel for the covenant like the pact plot did.

And AD... maomer invasion to spoil in kenarthis roost, veiled heritage court intrugue in auridion, more court intrigue in grahtwood, cleaning up the fallout from court intrigue in greehshade, foiling a spurned lover turned enemy in malabel tor, and finally some behind the scenes imperial dark magic threat in the reapers march... always felt a bit too heavy on the "Veiled Heritage" angle to me. As well as a tad too forest-ish in their regions, though I guess... elves. Good for people who love the outdoors, not fo friendly looking for someone with pollen allergy ;)

    Three factions in PvP.

One faction dominating Cyrodiil on both NA and EU servers.

A pity there is no current way to balance this lopsided situation, but greater numbers = PvP win.

That this spills into PvE acehivements due to having PvP dominance is also regrettable. So greater numbers = PvE advantage.

However, people may chooce where they want to go and rightly so - it was baked in at the game design stage.

Personally I never played DaoC - could someone in the know say how they overcome this problem at all, or indeed whether they did?

Hey guys just thought I would help new players who are wondering what faction they should join. My decision for my primary character is Aldmeri Dominion (AD) and here is why.

    2. Good PvP, AD often controls most PvP zones.

Hope this helps and have fun!

You must be on the NA server. :)
The only campaign ad controls is haderus, which is mostly void of conflict. That being said AD does need the help in the competitive campaigns.
Zhoyzu - Nightblade Alchemist (v15) RETIRED
    Has-No-Heart - Templar Enchanter (v4) FUBAR
Ambadassador - Dragon knight (v1) Naked with no future (returned from the naked realm to tank PvE)
Sakis Tolis - Sorceror (v10 in progress) Living Legend!

Xuhl'Xotuun - Warden Current Main as im starting the game over essentially with this character aside from crafting.

    1. Very busy AD has a consistently high population that lets you have plenty of people available to do group events, there is still plenty of room though that you can go off and do your own thing and not see anyone if you so choose.
    2. Good PvP, AD often controls most PvP zones.
    3. Rawl'kha this city is available as soon as you leave Cold Harbor (just portal to someone who is AD in your guild that is there) This town has everything you will ever need all in a very close proximity to each other plus it has the best prices in the guild stores there.

Hope this helps and have fun!

You should encourage people to roll the least populated faction not the most. Roll dc pls.

I log out when my faction takes everything, it's boring as hell!

It is actually available before you even go to cold harbour. With that being said, it seems like you are from another faction (EP probably) trying to get a bunch of people who have no clue how to play come join in our pvp fights to which we already (AD) have enough people who have no clue what they are doing >_< I say join EP because....well.....EP

The starter zone is in Cold Harbor..... I am AD... why so angry?

This is a reason to join other factions. The only reason AD is good at PVP is numbers.

this explains why EP is winning thornblade.

heck the only campaigns iv seen AD win in recently is that buff server haderus. and blackwater blade, after a crap ton of time.

if you want to advertise and get peeps to roll your faction; fine, but don't make AD out like they are the best faction; as they are not.

(yes I am harsh:) there are many worse than I am, so count yourself lucky It was me who said it and not someone with less impulse control skill)

I agree, I'm just giving the information on what is the best faction. The Rawl'kha location speeds up leveling by a LOT so that reason alone is worth it. We still do very well in PvP and will continue to do so.

Some neat facts about AD that makes it better than other factions:

    1. The weather is always nice.
    2. Most environmentally friendly of the three factions, as in has the most Green.
    3. The faction is the least documented in the Elder Scrolls lore, in fact the Sommerset Isles wasn't a playable area for any other Elder Scrolls release to date.
    4. The Mages Guild started on the Isle of Arteum in the Sommerset Isles, known as the Psijic Order, thus it was based in the Aldmeri Dominion.
    5. Possibly the oldest known civilization in Tamriel (as old as the Ayleid Empire, or older), since the Aldmeri Dominion were descended from the Aldmeri (first elves).

I agree with all of those except for one thing. I think AD has the most boring story. And this is coming form somebody who decided to make AD his home. But, DC was my first faction I played and the cities and story was WAAAY more fun.

This is sooo true. I nearly quit the game startng with AD
Grahtwood is super boring especially the Elden Root Tree.

Since this is in PvP thread, I assume the browsers would have some interest in how cyro works out currently in each one. Interestingly, AD used to dominate all campaigns all the time back in the days, so much so that we were camping their spawn points and all those shenanigans before it was fixed.

Currently AD sits at the lowest of all 3 by quite a far margin in thornblade. It is saddening because our pve side is pretty lively. I also found that IN GENERAL, and i play around GMT +8 time here, that EP people are really really good skill wise and gear wise. I almost never spotted anyone from EP below VR12 in thornblade. Whereas AD side is............how shall I put this.........so many sub50s running ard trying to leech exp and ap from the VR14s. In a 30man grp, i experienced once where the VR14s were only 7. Yes, I counted, which makes me realize why we are so easily pushed back by smaller EPs and DCs

DC is a bit of a mixed bag, some organized group are super disciplined and impossible to take on. But lets just say I have an easier time killing DCs than EPs, again this is my play experience in that specific timezone so experiences may differ
