In fact the Class Quest chains, which essentially drive all level progression, are designed to be fully soloable.

And the Class Quest Story Arcs are considered one of the strong-points of the game by a majority of players, as can be seen by the consternation caused that no new CQ content has been added as the level-cap rises.

But its different in swtor becouse there you can do the quests with your friends if they are playing a different class. Wish we could do solo quests with up to 4 people :/ but it they give us that option i hope they make it harder the more people in the group

From what I've seen so far this game is at least equal to Guild Wars 2 for the amount of solo content. In that game the entire storyline (except one instance, which is a dungeon) can be done solo and all the open world stuff can be done without being in a party. Some of it would be impossible to do solo but since everyone who participates gets credit you can effectively play with anyone who happens to be around without having to plan in advance and form a party.

This game seems pretty similar. All the quests I've done so far can be completed solo and all the open-world stuff can be done solo or with anyone who's around. I did find one public dungeon which recommended I should be in a party but even then there were enough people about that it didn't matter.

Having said that I do agree that if you buy a massively multiplayer online game you should expect to have to play with other people at least some of the time. Especially at end-game. Early on it makes sense to have more solo content so players can get to grips with the basics and have time to get to know people, but in general playing with other people seems like a fairly major part of the game, not something to avoid at all costs.

Oh sure, you can play in a group through that content if you wish, but it is designed from the ground up to be soloable.

I rather like the "auto-group" feature in Rift, where the game forms groups of people in the same area; works really nice there and avoids a lot of the niggles that go with PUGs in many MMOs.

That said, the first time through a game I prefer to play the majority of it solo - to explore the world, the story, crafting, etc at my own pace. I do expect to need to group-up at end-game, but I'm a long way off that yet - my highest level character is only level 23.

Gross exaggerations simply show a lack of any real substance .. 90% of Craglorn is NOT SOLOABLE at VR10, stop peddling false claims.

GW2, all the way except for the final quest was forced-solo, the final fight was deliberately designed as a forced-group fight due to the 'epicness' of what you were supposedly doing.

Except your friends are just there to watch and are not doing the quests you are doing (for main class stories). And if you are both the same class, you need to do the quest all over again for your friend because it only registers you. All SWTOR does for main stories is an advanced version of spectator mode.

It's just so baffling to me how many people play an MMORPG and want to solo everything and get mad and leave when they are forced to group in a MASSIVE ONLINE game. It seems to happen in this game the most. ZOS tries to get people to group during the solo stuff with world bosses, public dungeons, group dungeons, etc. but this game is still incredibly solo friendly and it's bizarre people are still complaining it's not solo-friendly enough.

TES fans are fans of a single-player series. That many would be interested in a massive, dynamic incarnation of Tamriel--without being particularly interested in grouping doesn't surprise me at all. One can accept that other players are necessary to fund one's playground without wanting to adapt to others' schedules and preferences. For instance, if I run a dungeon I want to do the quests, talk to the NPCs, and read any tests that may be lying around, as well as figure out strategies for the individual encounters. Being grouped with folks intent on getting whatever rewards they're after as quickly as possible drains the fun, both for them and for me.

Also, one can enjoy the presence of other players without wanting to group with them. Chatting, trading, snickering at the corpses of unsuccessful thieves, all can be fun.

All the overland mobs and bosses in Lower and Upper Craglorn were soloable (including the stupid thing with the Storm atro, that was the hardest one) with a build completely unoptimized for solo play, almost all delves (there's a few that can't because of some steps needing additional members if I recall correctly). Apart from that, and 3 trials and 1 arena that isn't soloable.. is there even anything in Craglorn? I would count that as far more than 90% , if I look at the map..

I've never played SWTOR so I can't comment on anything in that game. And I haven't come across the class stories in ESO yet, unless you mean the guild quests? I thought those worked the same way as normal quests - you can do them together but you have to make all the same choices or you get phased differently.

Laugh if you want, but you asked for an example, I provided.

GW2 (aside from the very last quest where you need to kill zhaitan).

I don't even comprehend how this game is considered a "group" game. It's a solo game with a few group things in it.

What about Cyrodiil? I know, the lag, but not talking about that. Players being able to gang up and attack anyone makes that whole zone really not soloable either, but -very- worthwhile to those who stick to it, something I need to do more...
