I bought eso before they had it on steam and I want the steam benefits (cards/achievements) when playing eso. Right now i can only link eso as a nonsteam game and that really bugs me. how can I link my steam account to my eso account?

ESO doesn't have cards or achievements (unless they were added recently, I don't pay much attention). Either way, you can't link it. Short of buying a new game on Steam, all you can do is add it as a non-Steam game.

This was brought up when ESO went on Steam. A lot of people weren't happy about it but you can't link them. Only as a non-steam game.

Same boat as you, OP. Bought the Digital Deluxe from the ESO web site before it went on Steam and now it seems we're SOL. Shame.

The official word from Zenimax was basically...

If you wish to pay ESO on Steam you can set up your game through Steam as a nonsteam game or feel free to purchase it again on Steam to get the benefits of Steam and pay for a second account subscription (when subs were required). No transfers to Steam or Steam keys were given out.

They really screwed up with that too because I think existing users might have helped boost ESO's Steam review rating and plenty of people would have played through Steam.

What are the benefits of the Steam version?

Can I still buy Crown Packs through Steam even if I have a non Steam account? If not then that is something they need to fix. Unless they prefer not selling those. Because I'm about 100 times more likely to buy stuff like that through Steam. I am much less cheap with my Steam wallet compared to a credit card.

I don't use Steam but from the complaints that raged when it was announced it wasn't possible (whether due to Valve or ZOS was never made clear) to link ZOS accounts to Steam, I got the impression the only difference is that Steam is a social media site when you can play games if you want to, and e-peen points scores or something.

As far as play ESO is concerned there was a unique pet with a Steam account .. and nothing else.
