Damage Shields - A good Addon without the Shield-bug

Hey,
I play a build that depends on damage shields.

In this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEZS0mUZiTI ) at 5:36 is an example for a bugged shield. My UI tells me there was a big shield, but there wasn't. This bug can appear with this huge shield, or with a small shield. One thing always is the same: You cannot trust your shield bar and this means the death (what it means in the video, too).
I tested other addons like Azuras or GGFrames, but this Addons have just one bar for shields and health. So if I have a bigger shield than my health I cannot see my health (expect of the number which is hard to realize during fight). I changed my settings yo I can see FTC and the normal ESO health bar at the same time, but when I had the shield bug the original healthbar was bugged as well. There were the (not existent) damage shields, too! I don't know if the original addon is bugged because an addon or if the problem is in the game (and not in an addon).
Does someone have a solution? With solution I don't mean "Do not shield stacking" or "Remember when you casted your shields". I just wonder if someone found a solution fixing this or found an addon that is not bugged (in the case the problem is an addon).

    I believe the bug originates in the code that sends data to an addon, not in the addon itself. It can even be observed with no addons at all. So i doubt there could be any addon that would not suffer from it.

    P.S.: It seems that this bug appears in combination with some skills (I only had it in pvp). For example biting jabs (templar clss skill) often makes my shield bar not working. But I don't know exactly what causes the bug.

    yeah this will occur without addons, the default healthbars get perma shields which can also stack, but do not actually exist. If they fix the underlying bug, which has been around for a long time, it should fix addons.

    I have encountered similar problems with damage shields, I use Wykkyd Enhanced HUD in combination with Shield Info addon and FTC for percentages in the attribute bars. Wykkyd uses the original attribute bars and Shield Info displays the remaining damage shield value / max shield value. This allows you to keep track on how fast your shield is melting to prevent unnecessary shield stacking.

    I mention the issues with the API to Eric Wrobel and he started talking about making it so that shields could be crit and such so I just dropped the issue haha.

    @Ezareth thx a lot! When your addon will be released? :p I know it wont fix the bug, but a better shield-UI would be nice, too!

    I'm using Shield Info by Garkin and like it so far. Very sweet & simple though it is another icon on the screen.
    Disabling the grass may improve performance.

    There are many CPs to be ground out and much PvP to be had until the nerf bat is in full swing. I also have a couple days at least of video review and editing to do for my next video. I wasn't particularly planning on sharing the addon but it is a possibility.

    I'm working on getting shield bars that display similar to ICE Hud in WoW instead of the giant box bars we're stuck with now. Eventually I'll Add health and Stamina bars to go with it so I can get rid of FTC unitframes. My development time is limited but It's slowly materializing ( =

    I'd be far more motivated if the above explained issue were corrected so we could actually see our magick-damage only shield displayed separately from our magic and physical shield.

    GGframes is just failing me more and more. Not that it's the actual addon's fault, but it makes it hard to determine my shield life when it displays a 1.3 mil damage shield lol

    From the balance perspective shields are one wa to counter crit. Before changing this I would think about stopping shield stacking. If I use a Second shield it could replace the old one, maybe this would help the balance. But at the moment shields are the only option for light armour user.

    as a compentsation for the crit advantage shields do not have any dmg mitigation. wich can be aswell explained by the same logic.

    be happy you are not playing with the default UI. having 1 red pixel resemble your healthbar while the rest is purple colored is even more horrible as you do not even have numbers for your health to rely on...

    Do you know if there is a way to reset the API for displaying shields? It sure would be a lot quicker to type in a command instead of relogging all the time.

    I've even seen the bog standard ZOS implemented health bar bug out!

    When it bugs, the issue is not knowing if you still have a shield.

    As @Ezareth said, this is an ESO API problem, not addon problem. If you want a simple and dedicated shield addon right now, then @Garkin created one that works perfectly (aside from API bug): http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info799-ShieldInfo.html

    You may be taking the definition of need too strongly in this case. In chaotic group fights, or after a few hard hits, you have to check such things. And in PvP you don't have a standard rotation in a robotic sense. Therefore, you cannot just re-spam a shield to make sure it's active without potentially creating another issue by over-consuming a resource. Something as simple as a visual as to the state and strength of it helps manage that. Otherwise, you have to ensure you can spam the shield and that changes your build. So need vs. really would like to have :)

    The most annoying thing is fighting with presumed full shields and getting one-shot by Ambush + Incapacitating Strikes combo. This happens if the shield just got bugged, so before crazy numbers and perma shield on the bar.

    Which seems to return junk data after a while/certain skills.

    I was wondering if there is a way to reset the value by typing in a command, this could solve the problem without having to relog. Also, its very strange that /reloadui doesnt fix this bug because its only a display error because the shields still work.

    It's been around a long, long time now and been /bugged many, many of these times. This thread have already done half the dev work for the devs, can you ask them to do the rest? ;)

    LOL! asking @ZOS_GinaBruno to fix one of the many broken abilites in this game is like talking to driftwood. It won't to anything but randomly float around and bump into stuff. Good luck with that...

    Fixing the shield bug, the hp desync on killing blow and the multiple CC immunity issues would lead to much smoother gameplay and increased TTK. It would almost be like a new game for me.

    C'mon @ZOS_GinaBruno. Get Eric to fix these and get him a @handle please. It's unfair on @ZOS_BrianWheeler to get all these tags for combat related stuff

    @Septimus_Magna I've never found a way to reset the API, I end up having to relog as well and it's annoying. Just another annoying bug on top of the whole buggy mess that this game is.

    It can get truly horrible sometimes. :)
