Can you play eso FTP with a beta account?

puckie_ireneneb18_ESO
I have played the beta of eso before it went officially online. When is was released I didn't pay to play it and didn't buy the game.
Can I update the Beta game to the new free to play game and play for free with my beta account?
Or do I have to buy the buy the game first so I can play it? And do I have to make a new account if I buy the game?

    No, because it's buy to play, not free to play. You'll have to buy the game - but if you already have an account, I don't think you need to create a new one. Just log in and redeem the key.

    Interesting question . Beta and live are two different folders on my PC . I think their separate on the live servers .

    If by 'beta' you mean the PTS then it isn't the same thing as the 'beta' account/client which we had from pre-release times.

    A 'beta' account which I presume @puckie_ireneneb18_ESO is referring to wasn't valid to play 'live' unless the retail game was purchased and registered to the account, as @Rosveen notes.

    The game client for beta was patchable to 'live' and not a separate install (in fact the pre-release DVDs contained a late beta version and installed it as such, some time later an update removed the references to 'beta'.

    Is that what it is , test server ? I assumed it was from when I was in Beta .

    @puckie_ireneneb18_ESO!

    Both PTS and the Live servers require a game purchase in order to play. That said, you can use your account from beta to either purchase the game from our site or redeem a key from a retailer.

    As far as the installation is concerned, it really depends on which beta you participated in. If you participated in the beta that was closest to early access, you should be able to open the launcher and the game/launcher will update to the most recent version. Older betas may require a full reinstall.

    I've played the Original beta before ESO was released and then played in 2 free weekends.

    The code for the PTS beta now was send to me by email, thats probably a mistake than since I've never bought the game.
    And you probably need this bought game to have 'live' acces to play on this server.

    Really big mistake from Bethesda since a lot of people are having this same problem and nowhere is stated that you do indeed need to have bought the game to play in the PTS.

    Just like what happend with the console players the wrong people recieved the code and are now cut off.

    The PTS server was available for download which I did and waited on for 6 hours and also the normal game was updated, nothing went wrong there.
