Multiple accounts [Answered and Done]

So, I'm running out of character space, and I don't want to delete any characters. If I purchase another copy of ESO, do I have to furnish a different e-mail address for the account?

Yes, you do. For those of us who are severe altaholics, it's somewhat irritating to not be able to have the same email address associated with 2 accounts.

If you would like to open a second account, you do need to provide a different email address. Currently it is not possible to link accounts either. Let us know if you have any other questions!

you shouldn't have to just be sure to bind your second account to your first.

That would be really awesome if true, i.e. the binding accounts. I guess I'll have to make a "just in case" e-mail address and go through it unless I get an official ZOS reply before then.... I'll let you know what I find.

With some email providers you can have a second address on the same email. Like Yahoo. The email from the second "address" will go to your main email address. I did this with my second account here.

Yeah, I've got 16 characters that I actively play (although since 1.6 dropped I still haven't gotten around to re-assigning attribute & skill points on a bunch of them - these things take time and careful consideration). None of them is a mule.

So it has started another thing WoW does, linking accounts. In another year this will be even further away from being anything like the Elder Scroll games.

On up side maybe millions of players from WoW will come to ESO and make the game better or just easier?

I'm sure it will be possible in the crown store at some point. It's already shown up on this thread a few times.

Where did you get this from? It was explicitly said that you can't link accounts. Wish you could, however. But not a big deal to set up an alias on my server.

How is a an avenue of account functionality a bad thing? This has nothing to do with lore, game mechanics or anything else that makes ESO unique. Literally all it does is add ease of use to the account settings.

Complaining about this is like arguing that ESO should not have customer support because, "WoW has CS too."

Yeah, well, I don't remember Arena having customer support, so already ESO isn't a real TES game!

I would love to see linked accounts as well.

(And for the "This is what happens with B2P!" people: I've often had two concurrent accounts on subscription games. I currently do on WoW, and at one point, I had *three* during the subscription years of Rift. I just love playing alts and going through the leveling experience!)

Because a lot of us veteran players would be angry and want to pull their finger and toe nails out one by one.

So we have to buy the game a 2nd time if we want more characters than allowed on 1 account simply because ZOS doesn't offer character slots? Pffff

You only need to look at the financial drivers.

1) Put it in Crown Store for 500 crowns per slot (most players will use the 1 month subscription, get 1500 crowns and buy 3 characters) - little to no real revenue stream for ZoS.

2) Make people buy a new copy of the game (anything from £20-30+) and have the hassle of re-logging every time and mailing items to each other...royal PITA and people will give up, but ZoS still have the B2P money. Better revenue stream.

Doesn't mean I agree with it, but hey, what do I know

Pretty sure that buying a second copy would be cheaper than eight char slots if they bring them in

They already do... go buy an extra copy of ESO. It's almost functionally identical . If you don't want to make a new free email to tie it to, use the gmail dot trick or an outlook alias. Couldn't be simpler and it all still goes to your inbox. I bought my 8-slot expansion pack last month for $25 and got an extra account bank and mailbox as a bonus!

A bonus to having two accounts is that you can easily use your mailbox as an extension of your bank.

Alternatively you could say the annoyance of setting up a second account, and mailing items between the two, logging out and back in to collect said items etc. would put off people who would be very willing to buy another character slot, so by not offering this as an option ZOS is losing money.
