Useless writs

I did a Blacksmithing writ yesterday for the first time since I maxed out a couple of months ago and, even with a crafting survey, it was a net loss of mats.

I don't think the writs were designed for max level crafters but rather for people leveling the their skill. They should change the hirelings back to what they were prior to 1.6 so maxed crafter aren't forced to waste time and money.

That's precisely what it is. The only one that might still be worth it after maxing the level is "Provisioning" because of the recipes that irregularly drop when completed.

Got a fortified nirncrux from woodworking writ this morning, as well as two gold tempers. That's at least 15k for 10 minutes work, plus XP. I've gotten 3 VR10 purple recipes since 1.6. Yes, there may be a few days between such pay offs, but I get almost 15k XP everyday just for doing these. The mats are not an issue for me, I have tons, and literally trip over the nodes that are everywhere if I need more.

Seems to me the writs are kind of a glass is half full/empty scenario. :)

I've only been doing the consumable writs after I received just a trait stone doing a blacksmithing writ.

Last 8 days i only had 3 maps from crafting writs. From 2 character all writs daily. They must nerf it. Iam loosing big quantities of gold on this.

I only do Prov. Alchemy, and Enchanting writs daily. The woodworking, clothing, and BS seem pointless and no much in payback.

Consumable writs are always worth doing, even at max craft level.

Equipment writs are only worth doing at max craft level if you've got a good source of the mats (by which I mean it costs you less to get the mats than the writ gives you back in gold).

now, what if somehow your Writs actually sent their material towards the war in Cyrodiil?

I have to agree with the OP, the equipment writs are a total waste of time and resources. The other day I received a Quartz trait stone for my Blacksmithing writ, the day after a Sardonyx. WTF is this ZOS? You nerf hirelings and then have a system where you get virtually nothing in return. I'm already a level 50 crafter so the IP is worthless, and the 600 gold is laughable. I spend way more in mats just to do the writs. Most of the time, if I do get a survey map it's in Lower Craglorn where there is no chance of getting Nirn.

About the only writs I've found worth doing at all are the consumable writs. At least they don't suck up all your resouces and you have a chance of getting something decent. But hey, I wouldn't be surprised if ZOS puts the nerf hammer on those also.

I do the consumable writs every day for the following reasons:

Alchemy - Always a net gain in materials (never not got a survey report), 6 flowers/shrooms + 1 Water for at least 6-8 double yield flowers. Flower gathering on it's own is pretty tedious, even in coldharbour.
Provisioning - It's only one of two ways to get the silly expensive purple ingredients to fund PvP food/drink and a less tedious/expensive way to get rare recipes.
Enchanting - I'm still levelling and another way to get Kuta.

I'm happy with these, they have good benefits and I do them twice a day when I can.

I'm slowly levelling the other crafts through deconstructing drops, so I'm not looking forward to anything else to do with them :)

The consumable writs are worth doing yes.

Another way they could boost the Equipments Writ at Maxed Crafter Level is to vary the quest. A quest could ask you to craft it normally at a certain level V9 to V14, or craft the item with a certain trait or make it a green item. If a writ requires a trait or a quality item, then it increases the amount of gold you get and the chance of a reward bag with higher chance of tempar items.

That is create differing quests at Max Crafter Level and more tiered reward containers for such quests.

The issue now is, if you dont have the trait then you would not be able to complete the writ for that day. Hence it rewards players who have also invested time to research traits and not just get the craft to max level and use it to farm Kuta etc.

Due to the rarity of Nirncrux, certainly such trait should be excluded but they could as well implement Elite Crafting Writs for those who have it. It boosts the economy, it boosts demand for crafters to learn traits from each other at a good price etc. But we already know that in guilds, everyone exchanges traits for research mostly for free so there is really not much market for such easy traits.
