Useless writs

There is still no encouragement for a fully trained crafter to do the writs... the gold is 600% less than can be had by selling the mats; the gold improver once every twelve days is less than what I get from my hirelings... I got one ruby, one sardonyx, and one quartz for completing my blacksmithing writ for the past three days... V1 Craglorn... This is futile...

Maybe you need to upgrade your opinion of writs.

No, I get closer to 600. The amount of gold you get for a writ is tied to your character level, rather than your crafting level.

It doesn't directly. For writs it affects only 2 things (as far as I'm aware):
-The gold reward (this is scaled based on the gold reward for a minor quest of your level)
-The maximum level of the stuff you're crafting and where it's turned in (this is, AFAIK, just to keep a non-vet crafter from having to go to a vet zone to turn in a writ).

Maybe I whine too much, but I don't see any correlation between a crafters level of expertise and the equipment he is allowed to craft... I took a month and a half to grind my char lvl 20, lvl 50 crafters up to char lvl 50 just so they had access to craglorn and 9 trait access; (they had 9 trait ability already)... I think it's absurd to make the one dependent on the other... but just my Humble opinion, and my angst...;)

About that... I just realized today that what I told you in that Tradepost thread wasn't exactly true. The level of writs is still gated by character advancement, not just crafting skill, but not so directly as I said regarding veteran ranks. For example my enchanter used to craft Strong glyphs every day, but today the writ asked for Greater glyph - I don't know if it is related to leveling to 45 or unlocking Coldharbor, but either way I'm turning in veteran glyphs without being a veteran.

Today i got 3 maps, and 1 gold Tempar and 1 Kuta.
1 of those maps brought me to upper Craglorn, where i got 1 Potent Nirncrux from the ores i mined.

Its a game of luck, and the Writs require a lot of materials (something you can't do unless you spend at least 1-2 hours a day searching for materials). If they were less demanding when it comes to resources i wouldn't mind doing them so much, but since they nerfed the Hirelings (of which i only used 1 of each kind, unlike some other people who ruined it for everyone) i have little choice if i want to refine my items.

hmm... I will take offense to the "using only one of each kind" as it took hours upon hours to bring my alts up to the place where they could hire the hirelings.... I put a heckuva lot of work into it... so please don't dis me with your opinion when the game we share gave me that ability... thanks...:)

For me it changed at 45, so then it seems it's tied to unlocking Coldharbor.

And it always asked me for Strong glyphs. I haven't used anything other than Pora in weeks. Switching runes today took me completely by surprise, I didn't even have any and ended up buying 37 Rera because it was the first guild store offer I could find. :P

Hmm, weird. It's obviously supposed to make some kind of sense based on character level, but I guess it must be more complicated than we thought...

Yeah, and what I posted earlier about my lvl 29 prov handing in at eastmarch, but my lvl 20 enchanter handing in at the rift doesn't make sense to me.... handing in at coldharbor at 45 does make sense... :)

Now, it might be that I have both a brewer and a chef... since I don't bother with the "cooking" abilities with my brewer, and I don't bother with the "brewing" abilities with my chef, I might be being held back; but my alchemist is also maxed at lvl 21 and still turning in at eastmarch... AArg!.... ;D

I handed in Alchemy writs in Eastmarch too, then moved straight to Coldharbor. I believe this is because Alchemy and Provisioning have 6 tiers of the main passive while other professions have 9. That means 4th tier is the last non-veteran, putting it in the 4th alliance zone, and the next go to Coldharbor and Craglorn.

Ya know, it's funny... I know this is the official patch note, yet I feel like I am seeing the exact opposite. My hirelings seem to be sending far more gold and purple items than before, and I have only received a few from writ rewards. And I'm talking max level hirelings, and max level crafting writs - both of which should have the highest reward potential. Who knows, maybe they accidentally swapped the code.

I wish they would put a little variety into crafting writs.

I'm a master crafter with no current need for low level mats.... why? Why can't crafting writs take lower mats every once in a while to make those things useful and have a bit of a demand?

It's sad that after this update there is absolutely no nightwood, shadowhide, voidsteel etc. being sold. Anywhere. Ever. If it is being sold, it's for 12k for a stack of 100. That's what I've found. Zero demand for everything else and everything else sells for 10g a piece no matter it's tier. Before this update, it was sold like everything else. Now it's too valuable to let go.

Yeah, I was looking for nightwood the other day, but all guild stores I checked either didn't have it or had it at crazy high prices. Seeing as I don't have time to farm it every day, I'll have to stop doing writs as often as I do now. I'm glad I still have lots of voidsteel.

I did a Blacksmithing writ yesterday for the first time since I maxed out a couple of months ago and, even with a crafting survey, it was a net loss of mats.

I don't think the writs were designed for max level crafters but rather for people leveling the their skill. They should change the hirelings back to what they were prior to 1.6 so maxed crafter aren't forced to waste time and money.
