Mounts should be gated on gold and not time

Kencan333ub17_ESO
Currently, and in the past, mounts were "gated" using time as a barrier to prevent people from going crazy on the mounts by forcing you to wait 20 hours before the next stat point allotment.

Instead, it should work as something like this:

For example, at 0% speed you would spend 250 gold per point up to lvl 19 for your mount. At lvl 20-39 you would spend 500 gold, and at 40-max level (60) you would spend 750 gold per point.

This makes a lot more sense because you wouldn't have to start all over waiting for a mount to be lvled to max lvl with an alternate character. Character progression and research times are gated on time, and that should be all that is gated on time.

What do you guys think?

I think the time barrier is a good one. Inventory space has a gold gate and that offers a good counterpoint.

On a side note: getting on mounts and getting off of mounts feels clumsy, it should be a bit quicker and more responsive. I don't even feel like getting on the mount currently because it takes too long just to mount up.

I like the current system the best. Using gold as a gate it not that fair over all -- some just know how to get TONS and TONS of golds while others do not know how to get any gold easy. Using the time gate is forcing everything to be on the even playing field. I think the time gate is best for mounts and research. Gold is good for bags and bank upgrades.

I like it the way it is for no particular reason. If guess I wouldn't mind your way if it came out to the same price as the current system. Your example in the OP is bad because it drastically increases the price of feeding - it already costs 45k + base cost of horse, it doesn't need to be any higher.

I think it is awful having to log each day on all characters to level a horse you might someday use. Better that you could just buy it in one go.

Respect your opinions but honestly guys The horse is well and clever implemented in the game Imo.
No need to change it and yes spend 3 months and level it why not?

Don't you guys mean your "Riding proficiency"? The mounts no longer have stats... something I personally thing needs to change.

IF there is any way to get around the time barrier, it should be crown store purchasable "riding lessons".

What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

I dunno, have you ever spent much time riding horses IRL? Especially in armour? It's not as if you magically fly on and off of their backs. For folks in Heavy there should be a squire that runs up and spends 10 minutes trying to hoist you onto the thing.

You're going into battle, not a jousting tournament. Your armor isn't that heavy.

On the other hand it doesn't make sense to walk in to a riding trainers office with a big, filthy wad of cash and walk out of there seconds later the most accomplished rider in the world

I just make my Alts early. Then I can level up their mount stats long before I even play them.

I'd like to see a combination (well, on the old system I would have).

In the old system, you should have been able to deposit $ for a period of time and have the statblemaster automatically feed when the time was up (WTH was she doing other than keeping the gate closed, otherwise?)

In the new one, with riding lessons being the premise vice feedings, it's fine the way it is.

If you check it once a day, you'll have a horse maxed across the board in 6 months, not that unreasonable, honestly.

Which helps to illustrate what an ill conceived system it is. Making a contentless 'daily' obligation.

Which is why they should be gold, not time.

Why can't I, as the adventurous hero, use my mountains of loot to buy the best horse available from a trainer? Silly.

Why should the best horse available automatically bend to your will as the adventurous hero?

If you don't like the idea of training classes, consider it acclimation classes, so the equally noble and strong willed horse doesn't dump you in the middle of a mob and trot away.

EDIT: The horse doesn't care that you saved the world.

There could be both options. You could have 5 upgrades per day available to you instead of one but each upgrade would be more expensive than the last. First upgrade is 250, second is 1000 third 3000 fourth 8000 and 5th 20000. Something like that. That way if you have egregious amounts of money, you can speed up the process and if you dont, just get 1 upgrade per day.
I'm kind of a small deal!

It's currently just another pointless mechanic.

Limitations are important to this kind of game. It isn't pointless. It rewards playing more often. I don't want to be able to have everything right away, nor do I want with those who make more gold to have everything right away while everyone else waits.
