Was there an Enlightenment exploit or was this just another UI glitch?

I have responded to the logic of "if there was a bug in the Enlightenment system that was exploited" elsewhere, and it boils down to A.) ZOS will or won't make a correction based on what it thinks is reasonable/good for the most players and B.) such a correction wouldn't be "punishing" players who exploited for a couple of days.

However, the threads on these forums often get ahead of themselves. Was/is there a bug that gives perpetual Enlightenment and therefore a lasting increase in CS points? Or was/is this a UI bug, with those points vanishing later? If the latter then a lot of energy going into some of these recent threads debating what should or shouldn't be done could be conserved or redirected. To, say, playing the game, or walking the dog, or arguing over population cap solutions for Cyrodiil.

If you can't respond because you don't know/aren't sure why are we making so many long threads about this?

I don't mind debating "What if.." That's fine. But there seems to be an awful lot of passion for something we don't have actual confirmation of or numbers about.

No one has delivered any proof that this bug ever existed. It's all rumor, and each person repeating it has a different story.

For me, it was a UI bug. I'd gain ghost CP but not be able to spend it in the CS UI, relog and the CP gained would go back to where it should be.

My understanding is that a person with Enlightenment could use certain buffs on someone without it and instantly trigger their Enlightenment, even if they already had it for the day. This "fake" Enlightenment would go away if you zoned or logged, but would stay so long as you remained in the zone where it was triggered.

Someone showed me how this worked in Rawl'kha. I can confirm they definitely triggered my Enlightenment right when they said they were going to, though I don't know what buff they used. It looked like a heal of some sort, or the PVP speed buff.

I already had my Enlightenment for the day when I had them trigger it. Being a vet there was nothing I could attack in Reaper's March to gain XP to test it, but I was told (again no confirmation) that it would work so long as you didn't leave the zone, so if it was spread to you by a grind group in a zone where killing things DID give you XP, there you go.

I suppose only ZOS and the grinders publicly claiming over 250 CP will ever know for sure!

    Why? TOS and good gamesmanship.

How? Players should report (not exploit) bugs and glitches using /bug in-game as well as posting about it on the forums. Screenshots and descriptions of how/when the bug occurred are helpful as well.

Because they are gamers, and gamers as a rule cannot actually keep secrets and desperately crave attention/validation. Every game has these rumors about the evil hardcore exploiters who know all the awesome leveling bugs and have a huge advantage, and every time it ends up being something much more mundane like now.

Cool, some people knew about a great place to level and grinded 24/7, who gives a ***? Doesn't mean they had 'unlimited enlightenment', it just meant that they were prepared and had a plan and probably very little self respect.

The only bug I can confirm is where the game tells you that you're enlightened but you really aren't, so it looks like you're getting rolled back when you relog but actually you're returned to the correct XP (25% of what the bugged was). No one I've talked to has experienced unlimited 'E', I thought I might have on Saturday but it was just saved up 3 days so as soon as I earned ~12 CP it went away.

Btw in case you didn't know you can check if your 'E' is bugged or not by a relog, if it's actual 'E' it stays otherwise you will no longer be Enlightened. I can confirm the whole system has worked flawlessly for me apart from the UI bug stated above, the 'E' I've gained and not gained has been correct.

So we have an official response:
While we don't want to discount anyone's reports, we are finding that there are currently no players with more than 150 Champion Points. We're going to close this thread as we don't allow spreading of misinformation, but if you see anyone that currently has more than 150 Champion Points in-game, please send in a report so we can investigate. Thank you!

I heard if you managed to jump over one of the flag poles in Cyrodiil it'd give you not only permanent enlightenment but you'd be able to enter Bravil, where they have master weapons for cheap AP.

Jokes aside, I really did try to find some hidden entrance to Bravil, either an Easter egg or some really hard to manage feat. Never did make it in :p

Could we for the love of everything in kind left in Tamriel please stop posting these threads? It's over. ZoS already patched the game to address the fact more englightenment was given than intended, and they confirmed they are still working on other issues, and that nobody is rolling around in 800 cps or whatever. Enough already. Yeesh.

This happened a few times to me, and friends of mine. Every time the points earned would go away.

This thread was already posted, and in fact was about people posting threads over an unconfirmed exploit. I only updated it with the official response from ZOS for those who hadn't seen that yet.
