Leaving Story Behind To Continue It Later?

Fearfniche3
So I'm at lvl 14 and completed all side quests in Auridon, haven't done a single main mission tho. I really want to go continue questing in Grahtwood but is it such a good idea to leave the story missions behind?? I'm not much of a "story" reading through each dialogue type of guy. Will I get something useful and special in Auridon main mission or can i go lvl up some in grahtwood and maybe later continue with main missions? Its hard to decide :S

You should complete the main story missions.

And if you're not into the story this may be the wrong MMO for you.
ESO is very much about the story.

The quests only provide exp and sometimes skill points. If you grind a little to level up you can do level 1-50 with almost no quests if you want.

The only real "main quest" to continue to cold harbor and the vet areas is the harborage quest line.

So have fun, do what you want lol.

You need to complete them to move on to veteran zones. If you don't do them right away, you'll miss out on 3 skill points per zone and will be grossly overleveled when you return, but there aren't any lasting negative consequences. However, I don't understand why you don't want to do them if you're going to be questing anyway - what's the difference if it's a quest in Grahtwood or Auridon?

Each area has a main story arc. This story arc is broken into 3 parts. The completion of each part also grants you an extra skill point. Without those 3 extra skill points during the level process, you are limiting your character's potential to match each area's difficulty.

One more thing, xp levels to meet your character. So if you mostly grind to lvl 50 you can go back and do all the low level quests for a nice little bit of xp.

    Not in zone main story.

Yes they do, but you need to be vet to get that bonus (though I'll be honest, not sure how it works in 1.6, il go test it later).

Tested and there is no longer a vet bonus for completion. So unless you want to make sure every quest goes toward champ points, there is no point in skipping quests. But, there is no penalty either.

He said "main story missions", so I imagine that he means the ones that are in the "main story" section of the log, not the zone main story missions. The main story missions take you out of the zone you are in, the zone story missions don't, so there would be no reason to skip those.

No, there is no harm in skipping the main story missions and saving them for later, other than that you will end up running several of the main story missions back to back to back. It is nice to run them now and then to give you a little change of pace, but you don't need to run them as soon as they come up. Squeeze them in when the mood strikes you.

Oh. That makes sense. It threw me off when he said "will I get something special in Auridon main mission" since the main story isn't tied to any specific alliance zone.

The answer is almost the same, though. You lose skill points, but these quests do scale up, so if you leave them for VR1, you will get a nice experience boost.

If you just limit yourself to the side quests in each zone, you won't have issues, but this is very hard to do and if you accidentally start the main quest in the new zone, you will no be able to go back to the previous zone and complete the earlier part of the main quest.
