    Hello @AngryNord,

Could you please use this article from our knowledge base? This should help you solve your issue.

I have 3 PCs, patched separately, connecting via 2 ISPs ... ALL are suffering intermittent 209s. I can run the launcher and get the REPAIR button, exit it re-run and get the PLAY button ... I can play the game but on logging out I get back to the Launcher I've even seen the PLAY button change to REPAIR! I've also seen the Error 209 dialog pop-ed up over a Launcher with the PLAY button and I could play!

The appearance of PLAY or REPAIR is random on all THREE PCs. Clearly there is a problem with your PATCH, it broke something in the Launcher, it's not credible to think all three PCs glitched applying the patch.

For those of us posting on here where the Error 209 is NOT permanent those instructions appear to have no useful purpose. If the problem 'comes and goes' it can't be file damage, otherwise the PLAY button would never appear. Even if we follow those instructions and PLAY appears, the experience I have is that doesn't mean the REPAIR button won't come back randomly, hence there's no reason to think that process will have fixed an 'error' in the files.

You need to get your devs. to find what they broke in the patch that is now causing the Launcher to sporadically fail to do whatever it fails to do when ti generates the error 209, while simply re-loading 'fixes' it.

It isn't 'our PCs' where the problem lies, it's in your Launcher!

So, deleting the .version files made it work yesterday, and this morning, but this afternoon I'm suddenly stuck in an eternal "Repair" loop!!! This is the THIRD TIME IN A ROW this happens to me after a major update - subscription will NOT be renewed post-March 17th!!!!!

No need to cancel AngryNord, this is simply the same false error report that happens every patch. After a few days it goes away. I do wish that ZOS would stop directing people to lengthy solutions which don't work. All you need to do when you get the error report and "Repair" button is close the launcher and re-open it. It may take a couple of goes, but you will get the "Play" button and can then log in as usual. It may help if you run the launcher as administrator. Do not be tempted to run the "Repair" function unless you are consistently unable to produce the "Play" button in which case there may well be faulty files that need repairing. It's usually a false error report, however, and closing/re-opening the launcher is all that you need to do.

    1. The people who programmed the launcher, likely long since quit or got laid off.
    2. The current employees do not know the ins and outs of the launcher
    3. Zenimax don't have the necessary programmers that have the needed competence to make a new, working launcher.

@Wolfshead One tip I was given but haven't tried it, but I'm sure it works, is if the error just won't go away you can run the game by not using the launcher and running the game's .EXE directly.
