1.6 refining resulting in less gold tempers???

    We're at 2.0.9 now. I haven't seen anything in patch notes. Anyone know if this ever got fixed? Or is the Gold Temper drop rate from refining still at the pre-1.6 rate of ~5 tempers per 1,000 raw materials?

    I am just waiting for the gold tempers to show up in the Crown Store. It seems that whatever drop rate has been stealth nerfed it shows up in the Crown Store, so wouldn't be surprised.

    Plus, I don't think they actually raised any drop rate from refining. If they did, then someone else messed it up in a later patch before it was released.

    I thought that I'd seen a better drop rate, but it might just have been RNG.

    I now think that there's been a stealth nerf with one of the recent updates - but again it might just be RNG.

    However, recently I've seen a lot more occasions when I deconstruct over 100 raw mats and get nothing - not even a trait stone. This has happened surprisingly often, which makes me think it's not simply RNG. I also seem to be getting a lot more instances when 10 raw materials produce only 7 refined (with no trait/temper), which also seems odd.

    I've noticed the same.... for almost a year I used to get loads of stuff from decon.... since a patch or two ago every single stack I refine has had its decon goodies reduced significantly.

    SO I'm expecting the wording to be something like "Tempers are already available in the game from a variety of sources, so we feel that adding to the crown store is just helping with the convenience of those players with limited playing time. Its not giving anybody an unfair advantage as they are no more powerful than what you find in-game".

    Latest results from refining over 14000 materials in 2.0.9 . Legendary mats drop rate was this time exactly 5%. So no change in drop rates. This batch is a good example of RNG. Even with 5000 sample sizes the drop rate goes +- 1 percent up and down.

    Several players have published their numbers since 1.6 . The total amount of mats refined and with published results is now way over 100000 . It is now absolutely clear that the 1.6 patch notes about increased drop rates of legendary mats when refining were false. There has not been increase nor decrease.

    @I_killed_Vivec , i checked afterwards that batch and i got about 400 trait stones. So you had bad RNG.

    Thanks very much for refining a ton of mats to confirm the drop rates did not change as stated in 1.6 patch notes, nor did they change in any of the incremental 2.0.x patches thus far.

    I wonder what was the outcome of the ZOS investigation into this matter referenced earlier in this thread?

    It seems the only thing that get's ZOS's attention is when people get frustrated with the game and unsub. My wife was complaining to me this morning how frustrating it is to get the gold level mats and Nirncrux. Crafting writs are usually a joke but they are forcing you to do them to even have a chance to get the uppler level Temper/Tanins/Rosins. But to do those you need a constant level of raw mats and that takes a considerable amount of time to farm, taking away your limited playtime when your trying to get a Champion point or just do normal questing.

    The hireling system was originally designed to help you obtain those gold level craftifng mats and let you just enjoy the game, not make it a daily crafting grind like it is now.

    @ZOS_JasonLeavey Since it looks like you're addressing some old outstanding issues (Fleshy Symbionts...which I'm glad to hear about) in the Next Major Update(tm), any chance you could chime in on whether or not this one's being looked into as well?
