Not at all. I just found a bunch of voidstone for a few gold shy of 600 per stack. I get about 600g per writ. Worst case scenario, I come out at zero. Next time I buy mats, they'll probably be more expensive, but not so much as to make writs completely worthless. If I harvest the mats myself, it's always a profit, but I don't have time to do it.Oh, and the surveys don't even begin to help you recoup the mats that you spent for them.. When I use my crafting abilities I expect a profit, not a loss...
Or am I surrounded by a bunch of addicted gamblers?

The only thing that bothers me is that I could be crafting armors for people with those mats. A set item would be worth more. Oh well. I wasn't doing these writs before at all, might as well see the new rates for myself, even if it isn't the most profitable activity.
[/quote]Agree with those saying Gold mats are not dropping more then usual!!!! I had about 4000 raw mats and only got about 12 gold mats from all of that. If you are going to nerf Hirelling to the point having them is a waste, please give us another source for gold improvement mats.

High level enchanting writs are the best source of Kutas currently. I've had a number of them come directly as rewards for writs, and in my experience (too small a sample size to draw definite conclusions from, granted) it seems that the surveys in Craglorn have a pretty high chance of producing Kutas compared to regular nodes. A couple of days ago I went to collect surveys (I had 3 saved up), and got 4 Kutas.I'm more worried by the Kutas than the other gold tempers, honestly.
I haven't got any Kutas from my hirelings, since 1.6 came out. And you can "refine" anything to get them, the only other option is to farm them (time consuming) or buy them (price is rising.)
As for the the gold tempers, I get maybe one or two per week from my hirelings, and maybe one or two more from refining raw stuff... so they're at least trickling in slowly. Kutas, on the other hand: no signs of life on that end

Weird, I've got 8 characters doing Enchanting writs (I don't bother every day on all of them) at various character levels and enchanting levels, and the only one I've ever received any Kuta on as a writ reward (or in a node from an Enchanting survey) is the one who's got Enchanting maxed out and is turning in writs in Craglorn. I guess it's RNG at work.High level enchanting writs are the best source of Kutas currently.
Oddly enough, I have received more Kuta's from my character doing L3 Enchanting. I don't know if that is the exact level of the writs, but I am dropping things off in Marbruk on this character. She is VR6 though. My other VR6, who is doing top level writs gets less Kutas.
Now, both have gotten the same from the Enchanting Coffers, but the L3 has gotten more from Survey's.

I have received at least one Kuta from a character with L2 Enchanting. I have NEVER received a Kuta pre/post 1.6 from ANY of my Enchanting Surveys, even the Craglorn ones.
As for refining raw materials, I've averaged more gold tempers since 1.6 than before, even from iron ingots. Usually, I get at least one gold temper after refining 200 raw materials. I haven't tested it as thoroughly as others, though.
Or letting the mats brought in by hirelings on all characters build up for a while... I never do farming (although I do grab most nodes I happen to pass by while I'm playing), but I've got 5 hirelings on each of the characters on my main account, and after a while those mats build up.You guys with 1000+ mats to refine...that's hours of farming I refuse to do.
