Healthbars and chat bubbles not working

I had this problem earlier. I fixed it by disabling healthbars, logging out and back in, then enabling healthbars again after killing an npc

The trick domander said, didn't work for me, BUT I think this fixed it for me:
Turn FTC off, reloadui, turn it back on. So it might be addon related problem

this sounds really interesting. most of us haved tried turnign add-ons off and had no success. but what if an add-on somehow messes up the "normal" user settings. I'll definitly try to turn add-ons off, get my bars again by restarting the game and prying and see if they get lost again if there are no active add-ons

For future reference if anyone randomly Googles, yes they can as I learned in beta. I actually got rid of my chat box entirely and couldn't bring it back by any means including reinstall. I played with some addon code to get it recreated finally.

Just a shot in the dark here, but does everyone running into this issue have FTC installed?

I have FTC installed but no problems with health bars.
On live server I had healthbars missing just once. When I experienced it, I had an old version of Wykkyd's Enhanced HUD, even if turned off in every setting.
There is a new version of this one.
I had also 3-4 other addons out of date but related to crafting/bags.

Last time I logged I had just 2 addons out of date but working without any problem.
But for FTC, I have several other addons and healthbars were always up.

No FTC here, and I never see healthbars in PvP (fine in PvE).

This was reported on PTS and as usual, made it to live.

I fixed the problem by removing the UserSettings.txt file from my game folder and restarting the game.

I now have a copy of the file that cause the bug and one that doesn't cause it. Interested?

I can confirm. If you go into your AddOns folder and rename the Usersetings.txt to something different, it will make a new one and the healthbars will show back up. Before doing this, I had the healthbars show back of if you completely close the client out and restart, but I had them disappear as I was actively playing. Hopefully recreating this settings file will be a permanent fix.

Update: And after doing another client restart, healthbars disappeared again midgame while zoning. This is happening with no AddOns installed.

I had this bug but was able to do a work around.

I turned on every option in the health bar section.
Then I turned off health bars
Then I disabled every add on I have.
    Relog
    Turn on Health Bars
Turn On Addons 1 at a time.

Even though this is a big pain, I haven't had an issue since I did this process.

Yeah... so *** ***. Restarted game 3 times today and when it finally worked the game kicked me out to the login screen because why the *** not. Then I got stuck in the loading screen when I tried to log in again. Awesome.

Wrote to the support and they asked me to reinstall my drivers, great.

Healthbars keeps disappearing every once in a 2-3 hours or so.. And these steps repairs it every time: ftc off, reloadui, ftc on, log off, restart game.
So if there's players who doesnt have ftc and this still helps, it's probably an issue related to something else but still these steps seems to help.
ps. I also have wykkyd outfitter & wykkyd toolbar (2.3.3.1 versions).

    Heya Gina,
I just put in a /bug report about this last night on Live.
    I included full repro steps.

The Quick and dirty: Health bar settings reset on a "zone load", causing Health bars to default to the "Off" position.
Should be a quick fix from the UI team.

    Hope this helps,

This isn't the only issue, however. They will stay off even once re-enabled a lot of the time... I saw that they were getting their global "On/off" setting changed on zoning/etc., though just to note the sub-settings such as "enemy", "self", and all of those do stay as set otherwise.

Yeah well... would be great if you commented on fixing the real issue, that the things in fact do not show up at all. I mean I can't disable and re-enable bars or indicators. Once they are gone they are 100% gone and I have been unable to play for the last days since the patch due to these issues.

Restarted the game over 10 times, in the end the bars and alliance indicators showed up but disappeared once again after I ported to cyrodiil. :/

If you delete the UserSetings.txt file from the game folder and then start the game, then the bug goes away. I suggest that you keep a backup of course , but this fix enabled me to get rid of the bug.

only some of the time, tend's to be associated with a high-lag enviroment
The bug usually starts after I was killed.
It is also usually fixed by closing and restarting the game.

It is related to the file C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\liveeu\UserSettings.txt

Like others said, if it is removed it will create a new one, you sadly will have to repick country, fix the graphic settings and some other stuff (luckily no keybinds) and healthbars will show up again, you might have to toggle it off and on to show up properly.
Sadly I can not find the code-line for the hp-bars visible in that .txt
Just tried to set it as read-only and will see how it plays out, will get back with results
(guessing read-only will have issues, prob crashes if you start changing stuff later down the road thou, since the program is not allowed to change anything)

I could not change the priveleges on the file, its grayed out, had plans to remove so admin, computer and user only could read, to be sure nothing can be changed automaticly in it, will dig into that as well, sadly its not a permanent fix if you ever want to change like hide helmet or anything.. c(:

EDIT: not sure if it was related, but started having troubles with insanly long loadingtimes, going from BC -> outside the door for example, not sure if it gets stuck, did not have the nerves to wait 5 minutes for it to load, alt+f4 and removed the read only made me go out within seconds again. :< got stuck on some other parts as well with it as read-only
