I only have 38 gig left on my SSD as it is....
ESO sucks for optimization......
Quite a few of my friends refuse to play ESO because of the download size.

SSDs were designed to boot from. NOT install games on.
ESO will let you install on ANY hard drive.
They have big SSD drives now, but once again - they were designed to provide a very fast boot.

So..... your friends are mad because they have a bad computer?
Honestly, a HUGE hard drive is $50 now-a-days.
You can't have lots of awesome content in the space of a tin can.
There are plenty of other games that have really crap graphics and still have a big download.
Tell your friends to upgrade their computer.

It's MUCH larger than that. I clocked over 65GB in total with all the incremental patches.
20 to 25 GB, minimum.

Yea ZOS just lost three subs from my friends today after they saw how big it is. I have already downloaded 25 GB of DATA and i'm still downloading a patch. All three just paid 69.99 for another game's beta!!! That's money ZOS lost because they're crazy enough to put in a fake patching system that doesn't even patch but re-downloads everything. It also angers me because I was really really really hoping to get my friends back into this game. Forget it, no game is worth this kind of crap in 2015. ZOS really doesn't know just how anger i am right now about chasing away my friends whom I've played MMOs with for the past 15 or so years.

Your friends must have a lot of disposal income. If I had spent $69.99 on a game, only to get home and see a sizable update and think, "Bah. I'll go play My Little Pony and the Magical Island Adventure".
I have a feeling some people simply MUST complain about SOMETHING. The patch size. Their fav toon getting nerfed. Something.

What does it take to be able to fix a piece of the whole and having the entire world download the piece and replace the unwanted data?
It's completely possible to install/patch and download at the same time patching while they are downloading without having to download full patches first.
Plenty of game studios have done it for years now.
You should not have to free up 75+ GB of hard drive space just to install a game that is 35+ GB...it is poor design and client optimization basically and they have no excuse for it.
Forcing your customers to free up almost 80GB of hard drive space to install your product that is 35-40GB in 2015 is ridiculous.
From a technical stand point there is NO excuse for it.
That's just the issue with installing, the actual size of the game files is another issue entirely, and again no excuse for it other than poor optimization.

I have a feeling some people simply MUST defend ESO about SOMETHING. The bugs. The size of the game. Poor design choices. Terrible UI system. Something. See what I did there?

The people, who are still here who complain about a laundry list of things and don't move on to a game they won't complain about, boggle my mind. One or two things I understand. But everything? Boggled.
