Provisioners - what are you doing to prepare for 1.6?

What are you crafting / saving for the 1.6 patch? I know pepper is going away, and there are a few lower level recipes that seem to be bumped to v10 (is that still true? I saw it in a spreadsheet someone compiled on the PTS forum here a while back, where a lvl 35 food suddenly became v10). So what do you think is important to craft now before the patch, and what should I save to craft later? For those who have tested things out, do you feel you can make the same selection of foods on the PTS as you can on live? (ie: do you feel the conversion is "fair"?)

I was hoping to test things out this week but forgot it was EU's turn at the copy.

And for any Alchemists, anything that I should be doing before the patch for potions?

    Food will still be king.

    Cook up all your pepper.

The current Consumate Honey Brittle uses the pepper, and converts to the new V10 food so is worth doing.

The other major consideration is that Oats are going to become the new rare ingredient for drinks... so if you want to use them for top level food (You do!) then you need to use them now.... preferably to make Consumate sweetrolls... which also transform into V10 food in 1.6.

Unless you are lower than V10 then its all going to be about getting the top level stuff... purple as I mentioned is easy, a couple of the recipes convert to V10.... but the current blue V5's don't, we'll have to go out and find the new blue V10's when 1.6 hits... .although to get a head start you could see which ingredients will be used (From the spreadsheet) & stock up now before the justice system makes things harder!

    The spreadsheet discussion is here:

People are saying food is better but I am not so sure. The regeneration on drinks have been greatly buffed and IMO are a good choice to use.

Do not discount drinks. I see a large shift towards them over food.

Most sources of recovery are percent increases. This means adding raw recovery normally has a much larger bang for the buck.

    VR10 Drink:
    315 Health Recovery
    288 Magicka Recovery
    288 Stamina Recovery

On my magicka based template build I gained 447 Magicka instead of the 288 due to passives/bonuses but no champion points spent. When this goes live I can likely push this near 500 magicka recovery pretty easily.

    Stamina builds can do likewise.

This IMO has more benefit then some extra resources.

@Madangrypally definitely has a point.... I can see drinks becoming a little more popular...

...but not straight away. People are going to be shocked by the reduction in their stats like health & are going to keep using food to boost it as a result. Regen is great as long as your health isn't so low you get one-shotted.

As people start earning a few more champion points, and re-gearing etc then I'd expect a few more people to find use for drinks.

Though to the OP.... if you want to cover yourself, drink ingredients are dirt cheap now, nobody uses them, and there are FOUR recipes that convert to V10 purple.... so you could just make a few stacks and keep in the bank just in-case.

I would recommend to check what are the other mats you need for VR5-10 food/drink. They are not the same old components and if you don't want to spend 150g ea - shop now and buy the mats which will be needed for new VR5-10 food. One example:

V10 Honey brittle recipe. In update 6 you will need mats which are now - battaglir, guar egg, mudcrab meat. So if you are high level you probably have mudcrab meat, but I would bet you have no guar egg (AD lvls 10-20), nor battglir weed( DC? lvl 10-15).

This is part of the problem now - you will need stuff which was low level and you easily trash it when move on to next range. Now you need all this ***. So, effectively, you will need much more space for provisioning mats than before. Be prepared :)

On PTS where do players find the drink mats from vendors? It listed Brewers but they do not sell any crafting mats, neither does grocer for drinks.

Am I missing something or are there no crafting mats for drinks on any vendor?

Not sure if it has lower level mats for drinks but the VR10 drinks mats are not on any grocer or brewer I have checked.

    1. Selling off/using up ingredients that will turn into 'Old' ingredients.
    2. Buying up any ingredients that will be useful or valuable.
    3. Spelling provisioning correctly.

I thought "previsioner" was ingenous as a title for this topic. Previsioner - the provisioner who plans ahead. :)
