The biggest concern here is Update 6 is basically rewriting the game. It's almost on the scale of the FFXIV rewrite. Rushing this out because they had a deadline of 2/23 seems like a bad idea. Very bad idea. There are other concerns with how PR has gone, but that's not something I'll bring up here.
What?
You seem to have no clue what Final Fantasy XIV did when you say that 1.6 is something like "A Realm Reborn". 1.6 is maybe 1/10th of what SquareEnix did with ARR.
1.6 is not that monster of a patch so many say. To increase all numbers x10 or to tweak systems is nothing special. Champion and Justice Systems, yes, that's something considerable, but the other things are normal patch content.
SE changed the entire game with ARR. And most important part: they added huge amounts of content. 1.6 has literally no content.
But you are right: they shouldn't rush anything. Release was rushed and it ended in a disaster, the deployment of 1.6 must work properly.
Having played FFXIV, I do have a clue. It's almost on scale. Not quite, and I wasn't talking about the content/dungeon maps. I was strictly talking about game balance. I will say, "increasing numbers x10" isn't simple. The game has to be re-balanced. From a coding/game design perspective, this could be a lot of work. And given how the PTS patches have been going, it's not something that was simple to track down. PTS was just updated with 1.6.4, we're no way near putting that on the live instances.
If you played FFXIV, how can you compare them?
To be honest, FF XIV was awful. It has nearly no MMORPG components in it, quests were missing, there was literally nothing in the world. SE had to redo nearly everything.
ESO 1.0 was not awful but it wasn't good either. It was just a mediocre game and with 1.6 it's still the mediocre MMORPG. Nothing special about it.
What Zenimax did wrong for 3-4 years can't be improved within months. SE needed at least 2 years to repair their game and make it shine again (and remember, FF XIV was offline for months due to the restructuring). 1.6 is just a bigger patch than the other ones. The biggest issue with 1.6 is the missing content, that makes the patch look quite... empty. Sure the game needs balancing and tweaking, but 1.6 doesn't justify a "rebranding". VR is still there, clunky combat is still there, no content... good on one side, bland on the other. I like 1.6 but it's not some kind of Messiah for ESO.

There is always a maintenance.
1.6 is not ready yet, pushing it out too early will cause issues. Especially AvA will be unplayable when the +100k hit bug hit live servers.
Given the history on this board, I think it's fair to assume that the people who are complaining that 1.6 isn't ready yet are the very same people who are going to complain if it gets delayed.
I know that you can't please all of the people all of the time, but it's also pretty clear that there are some people you can't please any of the time.

True enough. But those people tend to be the ones that feel things should come out when they say they are going to AND work properly when they do. That may be an unrealistic expectation but it's certainly not an unreasonable one.

It may not be unrealistic in principle, but in practice to complain that something isn't ready to go Live yet and then complain when it is delayed in order to get it ready makes no sense and is just complaining for the sake of it.
