What does 5% increase in max magicka equate to in dps?

I'm currently on vacation and will not be back anytime soon so I can't figure this out for myself. But the question is killing me while I try to think of my spell bar setup for my Templar. I'm a light armor ranged dps/heals. Is it an equal increase in dps for a percentage increase in magicka? Thank you.

Ability damage = (Max Magicka + 10.46*Spell Damage) * COEFF (coeff is an ability-specific value)

If you have a high magicka, 5% increase should result in about 3% damage increase. If you have high spell damage it should be closer to 2%.

    Okay. I am no Templar.

But I have 41009 base Magicka and + 5% (Magelight activation) I have 42747 (which is not 5% in my math)
My force shock deals 5487 damage and with 5% more Magicka added, 5649.

Decide for yourself, if it is a high increase for you. To me it's not.

It's a tiny increase and it depends on, how much Magicka you have. And Magicka is like 10 times less worth than spell damage. It will give you some higher numbers, but you won't really recognize it in combat.

(Going to test it now and tell you the numbers)

Magelight gives you 7% more Magicka total though (Mage's guild passive) and 10% more crit chance, which will help your DPS a lot

Is there any sign the attributes act as a bias on the weapon/armour stats in 1.6 ?

I will get the crit buff from sun fire now. But I did forget about the mage guild passive. Did you have that when you ran your numbers? Thanks.

The 5% is part of a bigger math problem which is why you are not seeing a straight 5% max magicka increase.

Raw Stat: There is base magicka and other sources that increase the magicka by a set raw value. IE: Max Magicka on gear, Stat point increases and Jewelry Arcane Traits.

Modified Stat: These are an increase/decrease of a percentage of the Raw Stats. IE: 5% Bound Armor, 10% Breton Passive, 5% Magelight, etc.

To see the math lets assume a player has:
    22,000 Magicka from raw stats.
    25% Increased magicka.

    22,000(1.25) = 27,500 Magicka.
    Add 5% to this then:
    22,000(1.30) = 28,600 Magicka.
This was only an actual 4% increase to total max magicka.

Yea, I know :) But I don't wanted to confuse him.

and @Sheuib I was only reading the tooltip and wasn't making any damage tests. You asked, how more Magicka affects your damage. Magelight is definately a very good choice. 10% more crit is a lot and it's basically the best toggle. If you only care for the crit, sun fire will give you the crit chance and it will not stack with Magelight.

If you can effort the 2 slots, take Magelight. If not, it's still fine.
