Now you make me wonder - what I thinking you experienced was a bug that certain set parts become other armore parts but not change their name. If your Pauldrons are actually called Sabatons now I don't know.
DAGON - ALTADOON - CHIM - GHARTOK The Covenant is broken. The Enemy has won...
You might check and see if you can pick up another piece. I noticed last night that fextralife.com only listed 5 pieces. I'm pretty sure there are at least 6. I'm pretty positive that I've got 5 pieces and one of them isn't the great sword.
If you had shoulders called pauldrons they stay shoulders, if you had shoulders called sabatons they became shoes. I had both in my inventory and can confirm that this is what happened.
I am also missing the shoulders (heavy) and now have the feet in inventory. If this change is permanent, I'm screwed in the sense that the only way I can keep the 3-pc bonus (an important part of some of my builds) is to use the feet -- this means I now have to craft new shoulders of the set my feet had been in order to maintain that set's 5-pc bonus.
This is easy enough to do, but I sure hate losing qty 8 tempering alloys, gold enchant, and the other materials.
It appears the 'correction' path ZOS has taken to this point will cost me about 25k gold if I want to keep the build I had prior to patch. (which of course I do - it's kick-ass!)
Submitted ticket wording - I have submitted the below as a support ticket and will share any information I get as a reply:
"I used a 3-pc set of Dreugh King Slayer and (as you know) the shoulders were lost post patch. As you probably also know, they were converted to DKS feet. In addition to what has been posted in the forums, I have now searched 19 of the best DC guild traders, and DKS pauldrons no longer exist there either. I see in the forums that both cauldrons and 'sabatons' (with the shoulder icon and that were slotted in the shoulders slot) were both available previously and that those misnamed 'sabatons' vs cauldrons were converted. However, since [I believe] I was actually wearing 'cauldrons' and there are zero in the guild stores (there had often been several in the guild stores prior to patch) it appears that maybe both cauldrons and [shoulder] 'sabatons' might have been eliminated/converted. I doubt many who have this issue (and became aware of it as of yesterday midday) have searched as extensively in the guild stores as I have. I have a guild mate who is also having this problem and would very much appreciate knowing the status of this issue before we are forced to make new armor.
The builds I use this 3-pc set in really need to keep it. Therefore, I will now have to use the feet (actual sabatons) that appeared in my inventory. When I do this, I of course have to make new shoulders that are part of the same set my feet had been so I can keep that set's 5-pc bonus. This is easy enough to do, but because my DKS shoulders were improved to gold and had a gold enchant, my cost to make new shoulders is ~27k gold: qty 8 tempering alloys, Qty 1 Kuta, qty 3 grain solvent, and qty 1 Kura. I don't care about the balance of the materials.
We need to know as soon as possible whether 1) we will get new DKS shoulders or 2) be compensated for the improvement materials - so I can play my main knowing whether I first need to craft new shoulders.
Update ref. my above post - A GM responded with the following:
"So I just finished doing some research into what happened with those shoulders, and here's what I found: The Sabatons of the Dreugh King Slayer were actually previously bugged, but have now been fixed in the new update.
In the 1.6 patch notes, located here, it states:
Sabatons of the Dreugh King Slayer: Fixed an issue so these will now go on your feet, as intended.
It also looks like Pauldrons of the Dreugh King Slayer should still exist in the game; I wasn't able to find any thing that indicates they were removed.
I'm very sorry to say that changes that are made by patches don't qualify for compensation. I apologize for the inconvenience this causes."
I'm ok with this and consider ZOS support's reply to have been timely and professional. Given the complexity of their workload this soon after the major patch, I think their support has been stellar. It's nice to have confirmation and resolution with respect to what may or may not be done about this issue.
