So reporting bugs on here can get you a game ban

From the "Code of Conduct" that ZOS say has to be observed, a breach of which can incur a permaban for the game account:

"5.2 Users will not exploit any bug, or abuse any game system (such as the scoring or award systems) in a ZeniMax Game, Service, forum, or other games or services provided by ZeniMax. Users will not intentionally use or share any bug found within any ZeniMax Game, real or fictitious, regardless of whether or not it grants an unfair advantage. You will not directly or indirectly communicate the existence of any such bug to any other user of the ZeniMax Service (in game or on a ZeniMax service). Report bugs and exploits using the in-game portal or via http://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/home."

The last sentence makes it clear that "any bug" isn't solely referring to 'bugs' that normal people would recognise as 'exploits'.

@ZOS, are you seriously intending to say what this clause actually says, because right now there are several threads where several posters are in breach of this, not least the 2H damage thread.

The difference between the PTS and the Live server might not be reflected in the Code of Conduct, but most likely is handled differently. Players on the PTS are encouraged to find bugs and possible exploits. They still should use the /bug function to report it, but to have an additional thread on the forum about it helps other players.

So yeah, technically you are right. But I don't think reporting and explaining bugs/exploits on the PTS actually is sanctioned. It would discourage players from testing and doesn't really serve any purpose.
I have approximate knowledge of many things.

You do not report bugs on the forums. This is not the proper place for that. Report bugs using the in-game bug report tool. The issue is that once you report it people who had no idea will start doing whatever the exploit is. Also using the bug report tool sends proper information to the right people.

    Hey there @Kragorn

Generally we don't mind bug reports on the forums as we like to ensure that your feedback is heard. That said, we do urge you to also use the /bug and /feedback tools in-game, as these tools send valuable information to our developers about the issues that you experience.

The above rule is more specific to in-game exploits that allow you to gain a specific and notable advantage over others. These should be reported through the /bug feature only.

If you do report an exploit in the forums, do it without describing how to use it. Let ZOS know you will be happy to provide the information privately. That way no new people will be able to start using it.
