New Class - Necromancer - Completed Skills and Passives

Hehe yeah I totally agree, ESO is getting close to due for a new class addition. However I dont see anything unique about your suggestion, they just seem to be a mash up of current classes. It needs something unique. Maybe something like a passive that will turn something into an undead minion for 10seconds after you kill it. Maybe a skill that allows you to drop your health below 0% by maybe up to 10% as long as the buff is active.

Something else I notice is that when ZOS works through class design, they will put all of the classes on paper and they will do something like, well every class has access to x major and minor buffs, but which buffs do we give that these classes don't have, and vice a versa. Every class needs to have defensive abilities, utility, Loads of DPS, some kind of magicka and stamina restore, self heals etc. Its all actually very carefully balanced.

Wasn't necromancy outlawed a long tome ago, especially after Mannimarco screwed things up with his cult?

I'm not really opposed to this idea, in fact it's a really good concept. But how does one explain those books appearing at several shelves, where one could freely learn all this stuff without repercussions.

It's kind of funny, when I think about it - you go there, activate it and soon after (if one is close) you get chased by a guard.

Seems difficult lore-wise to come about in the middle of a conflict that was (somewhat) caused by people of that ilk, you like to see as heroes. It's like being a Dremora and becoming the hero of Kvatch, you know?

Anyway, if ZOS decides to release such a class, I'm not going to be upset, just a bit confused. Sure might be fun, let's wait and see...

Im going to say no on Master Necromancer. While you have pvp on the brain ( this passive does nothing for pve) It will also literally mess up anyone who uses a purge on a group which is the point of purge. So as a healer if they purge 6 targets and you have this on a few targets there is too high a chance to kill the healer and/or healer should not die for using a support skill like purge. That itself doesnt make any sense. Honestly it never did in any of the other MMOs. Im a fan of persistant dots as if you purge the dot a new one will replace the old one ( refresh timer) on target . But even that is not fair because as the person with the dot its not fair that someone else on your team forces the dot to be on longer ( think low hp like 15% and someone refreshes the dot on you and kills you from a support ability) Generally speaking a support ability should never hurt the cause because that defies the logic of support abilities.

Refund Percents are too high. Think more like 10/20% not 50% . Does nothing for PVE.

Resource rate lock down. Seen it happen before. Doesn't work. Your percents are also too high for that. Since there are no cooldowns in the game to balance the combat the only thing left is Resource management. So putting a lock down on the only balance tool they have will not work. It would be akin to other MMOs causing their abilities to Cooldown twice as long which is no good. While i like the idea the percents would have to be much lower around 10/20% MAX. Even then id lean on 15%. ( Think willow set. The set at 15% would negate thats armor bonus entirely) Once again this is pvp based. Does nothing for PVE.

While im a fan of the circles causing heavy effects so people WANT to get out of it . It is not fair to any melee players as all you need to do is stack circles and stand on them and the melee character cant do anything about it. They must either run into the circles and risk losing the fight ( based off your crazy effects in the circles like zero resource rate etc) or stand out of melee range and get pelted by you. Doesnt Work.

CC Diminishing returns would need to be retooled imho for most of these snare effects to work. 70% snare is very heavy and being able to spam that on someone would pretty much put them out of the fight. After 2 snares CC immunity should kick in for 6seconds or so. ( currently CC immunity is jacked up)

Would like to see more healing role things other than the Support pet and the well ultimate.

While I would love to play a necromancer ( its honestly the only class line ive been waiting on currently) This build has a few holes in it. After some tweaking it could be nice though.

As for healing role. Think of some Dot Morphs that heal the group via taking the monsters essence and giving it to the group at reduced damaged or no damage. Works something similar to Purifying Light but better lol.

It is clear you have pvp on the brain here while it would be nice to have said pvp boosts to all classes it does nothing for pve unless they want to retool NPC AI to purge etc but then that will get annoying for other classes that get no benefit from having been purged.

All Angles must be looked at. A lot can go wrong here and be abused with this current setup.

We have all the main types of magic in game except TWO that are represented in class trees. Those two lines being frost from destruction (sorc has lightning/ DK has fire), the second line is the second half of conjuration, necromancy...i feel that frost magic and necromancy go together like butter and rice. As for a third line, defile magic or something like we have from the enemies the cast those really painful crows and totems...

Problem is you need to fill 3 roles with only 3 skill lines. Currently ZOS will trash the healer role for 2 DPS lines and a tank line (Snore) and push the healer role off onto resto staff. That being said you could use Ice for tanking. ( reducing targets dps or buffing your mitigation etc) Maybe even use it for melee ice attacks etc. Use Conjuration for DPS and Dots for DPS and split healing between the dots and conjuration lines . It will be more complicated then the rest of the classes if you go that route.

Honestly where everything falls short is holy trinity. 1 tank 1 healer 1 dps. your general group could be 1 tank 1 healer 2 dps 1 melee and 1 ranged. ( sometimes 3 dps) Going with that logic there should be 4 skill lines to reflect that. 1 tank line 1 healer line 1 ranged line 1 melee line. Why they decided to go with only 3 lines is beyond me. Now most talent trees go in 3s. 1 healer 1 tank 1 dps. But generally speaking that class is stuck just with a melee dps. or a ranged dps.

They could have done that and let the weapon abilities decide if you step outside of ranged or melee dps. Everyone wants to be dps though. So its clear they went that route. No one wants to be a tank so they gave tanks the 2nd step by giving each class a line for it so you dont run out of bored tanks. healers get the 3rd step? a resto staff and some minor abilities. lol. Templar being the only class with a actual heal line.

What does that mean? It means either they were really lazy or they pandered to the dps crowd because more people want to be dps. Its quite easy to see. Other players will make builds such as this necro build but never add in healer or tanking in most of these. That leaves you with all dps and nothing else. It would work with GW2 b/c they dont use holy trinity. But when you do use it you'll need the other 2 parts to make it work.

Not to put down the necro build. Most of it is pretty good.

This would become the new "OP" class. 24m AoE/DoT/Executes would be ridiculous in PvP. They would need to make some adjustments to those numbers to fit their system. Or, better idea, they give us the skill set that the NPC Necromancers use.

    this will never be implemented.

The main enemies of this games story are necromancers(yes, there is a story) it would be incredibly lore breaking to play as the type of enemy you dedicate your character to destroying.

Maybe hunters, shamans, stuff like that, but i doubt necromancers will ever make it (unless ZOS does what the WoW peeps did with the deathknights and have you start out in mannimarcos/molag bals service, then end up betraying them and fighting for the other side.)

however, it does not mean i would not try it!:D

I would at least be better than mannimarco.

So much better, but I do like the idea of tieing the skill lines into the quests, and the "corruption" TES series has always been nice but really the darkest thing I remember doing questline wise was just slaughtering innocents out of spite for Molag... Kind of boring :stuck_out_tongue:

    Blackwood Company... xD

There's a creepypasta about that mission on the net.[/off topic]

It is interesting, but as pointed above, how do we relate the corruption to lore? Mehrunes again? Uncle Sheo?

I think the best option should be Clavicus Vile granting (dark) wishes... it is always nice to see Barbas again.

Dark Brotherhood should bring a poison skill tree.

On one hand, I think Necromancy would make more sense as a world skill, but I think lore would suggest that it’s a discipline that requires dedication so it’s not like a Templar can be a Necromancer. If there could be a line of world skills that are TIED to the core classes so that the Necro-skills are a “corrupted” versions of the classes giving each class an additional skill tree (or trees), I think we would have an interesting mechanic on our hands. So:

Templar corrupts to Accurser (I renamed your Cursed Magic)
    Dragon Knight corrupts to Defiler
    Sorcerer corrupts to Necromancer
    Nightblade corrupts to Seducer

This could be tied into the Dark Brotherhood (or at the least Daedric Princes) or could be a completely different mechanic within ESO. Either way, I think players should be able to hide that they are corrupted so they work in secret.

Overall I really like the idea of players being able to take ‘darker paths’ I hope we see these sorts of additions to ESO with the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. Thanks for sharing!

Oh... and the ARMOR that should be added along with these types of skills... WELL...

I think there's a great lore opportunity here. Seems like a good place to pick Mannimarcos story back up, he is after all the king of worms and it's a very fitting depiction of what could be his future. Then again there may already be lore in place that I've forgotten or am ignorant to.

I would really like to see this class added, main reason why is because, not doing necromancy is boring we want to summon the undead to our bidding we want to raise zombies from the ground!, I think adding necromancy would help build the player base, and everyone would be necromancers lol because they will go, templer boring, nightblade when dark brotherhood comes, they would want to be that for the dark brotherhood, dragonknight for the skyrim fans, sorcerer, boring necromancer it is. Necromancer.
But I do got to say, summon lich as an option for ultimante first skill for the necromancer is summon zombie, now when you summon zombies they come out the group, you can have two morpths one Maybe called greater zombie that does extra crit damage, if enemies are low on health. Then the second one would summon two zombies but they do lesser damage then just one combined but will do like say 10 precent, damage bonus to the necromancer when they are summoned and if they die, you get healed for say 15 percent.
