Nope. I've seen a bunch of people spending less time on live due to spending some of their gaming time on the PTS to check things out, but that's different.

In fact, I know quite a few people who are, if anything, logging on more in anticipation of 1.6x in order to do things like grind out the max number of CP, grab loads of provisioning ingredients in towns, and feed stamina horses.

And, of course, I'm still seeing similar numbers of people questing and stuff in the zones as normal, including brand new players in the 1-15 zones - some of whom seem to have started playing in anticipation of the game going B2P (at least, if zone chat is anything to go by).

I haven't been logging in much, either. I just can't get up for doing things that have no impact on my character or "don't count". The only thing that's been motivating me a little to log in is the hireling change. Trying to keep checking my hireling bags at least every day or two while that still does count. Soon that will be a huge waste of time (and skill points).

There are so many new players right now it's kinda crazy. I used to be able to find 5-10 people to replace inactive accounts in my favorite trading guild fairly easily. Would have to travel to each zone, popping my ad once then going to the next zone etc. Sometimes I would have to hit each zone on characters from different factions, but in an hour or two tops I would have the spots filled.

Now when I go to any zone level 30 or lower I get spammed with people wanting to join. Sometimes 5-10 whispers at the same time responding to my ad.
B2P/TU/CS, all of the above, who knows. But there is clearly a ton of new players right now.

It probably depends on the type of guild you are in. I'm seeing less people on for end-game stuff since gaining xp doesn't do anygood if you are vr14 already and you might as well wait for CP to roll out and there isn't really any new end game content to play - plus those guys test on PTS. But I'm still seeing a pretty good amount of traffic in the same areas and in the merchant guilds and stuff and I'm sure anyone still leveling a non-vet has no reason to stop.

That may be true and I wouldn't doubt your experience but I think there is certainly a trade-off happening. There may be new players but it's at the expense of existing, long time players. The question is..will those long time players stay gone and will the new players stick around past the honeymoon period long enough to matter?

Sadly you are probably correct. But as mentioned above, there is very little to do right now as people are just kinda chilling out waiting for 1.6

They are saving map objectives and quests etc, because right now they would be a waste. People don't want to run Trials etc, because they a worried about gear nerfs and build nerfs. Plus there are a TON of people on the PTS right now.

So hopefully many old vets will be back in force once 1.6 goes live. There is no doubt that many people are leaving out of frustration though. I haven't seen this myself in any of my guilds, but I believe other people when they say their friends or guild members have quit. The question is whether or not they will be back.

I was and still am way more upset about switching to B2P than anything to do with the CS. But I intend to ride it out for a while and see what happens. Let the chips fall as they will so to speak.

In any case, whether we like it or not, there is definately a new, large crown moving in.

I'm still racing other players to the resource nodes in Upper Craglorn, so no difference there. Rawl'kha seems busy as ever. And banks are crowded when I switch to my alts, all below lvl 10. There were lots of players on PTS. So...no real decline that I have noticed. Lots of people prepping for 1.6, like Alphashado said.

I've given up on the endgame content because the rewards are so weak. No exciting gear to chase. Played an alt for a while yesterday, hope 1.6 is good. Wish they would improve dungeon and trial rewards because right now doesn't seem worth the effort. Even the undaunted monster sets proved to be pretty weak.

Please tell me how you identify new players? I've been running three test characters around for a couple of weeks, I see numbers of characters in places like Davon' Watch but nothing remotely approaching the numbers the game had at its peak .. and no, there aren't huge numbers of VR14 posing in Craglon either.

Even then I see no way to be able to know which characters are being played by new players. If a level 5 is riding a 42k mount clearly it's a alt (or gold buyer but that's probably hugely unlikely now), but on foot .. how do you know?

I have to agree. Once you get on the PTS, it can be hard to go back to live. I have found myself wanting to pickpocket the NPCs on the live server and hunt for the normal clothes.

Does the PvE rewards not count when you do them?

Why does this not count. I log in every day and play for a few hours. I still have lots of fun and i just don't see how something does not count. Just because you don't get CP for it which haven't been implemented yet? You also don't spank the monkey if you have no girlfriend because it doesn't count?

As a VR14 with max XP, it makes little sense to do things in game now that will grant me CP when 1.6 goes live. It's basically throwing away CP. That's especially true for maxed VR14s. Doesn't mean there are not things to do in game now for fun, and mostly, getting ready for 1.6.
