So many people have stopped logging in

I'm finding there are definitely more players in the lower zones now when I log on my alts. Many people asking questions about the game, which tells me they are new.

Sure some people who've played since launch are gone. On the other hand the TU announcement and JS has brought some old-timers back to our guild, which is exciting.

I'm playing as much as usual. I think i'm going to try and get at least one alt IP to V1 before CS launches. We'll see how that goes.

I haven't been logging in much, either. I just can't get up for doing things that have no impact on my character or "don't count". The only thing that's been motivating me a little to log in is the hireling change. Trying to keep checking my hireling bags at least every day or two while that still does count. Soon that will be a huge waste of time (and skill points).

What does not "count" if you play the game now. Does having fun while killing enemies in PvP not count? Or do you only care for xp?
Does the PvE rewards not count when you do them?

Why does this not count. I log in every day and play for a few hours. I still have lots of fun and i just don't see how something does not count. Just because you don't get CP for it which haven't been implemented yet? You also don't spank the monkey if you have no girlfriend because it doesn't count?

As a VR14 with max XP, it makes little sense to do things in game now that will grant me CP when 1.6 goes live. It's basically throwing away CP. That's especially true for maxed VR14s. Doesn't mean there are not things to do in game now for fun, and mostly, getting ready for 1.6.

PvP or dailies grant CP i think. But those can be done without loosing CP, as it is an ongoing event. Normal quests i understand, for V14's. I still have whole craglorn left but i never did it since i want it with a group. But if you PvP, do dailies or cyyrodil quests, you won't miss out anything.

C'mon people don't throw in the towel. Let's make some fun :'(

I havent been playing because its a waste of my time until March 17th (if they dont delay the relaunch which they most likely will). So why should I log in? Even starting a new character is a waste of time. The coldharbor area at first has also been changed. I only have one character slot left. So ya my characters have been in limbo for 2 months already.

There's nothing to do as far as end-game PvE is concerned and there won't be anything new for at least eight months. I came back this month to try out 1.6, but I don't see myself continuing.

I was out of content when I quit months ago. To still be out of content and to not have any in sight is absurd for a theme park MMO to ask of its consumers, in my opinion.

I agree it depends on where you go and whether you're vet or non vet. I have characters in every alliance. When I play one of my vet characters in a veteran zone I don't see many people at all. But when I'm on a non-veteran alt or a veteran in the home alliance zone, it gets really crowded at peak times. And the guilds I'm in don't seem to be hurting for members.

I have also heard a significant number of people who exclusively play end game content are spending more time on the PTS these days since they've already done all of the current content.

There are so many new players right now it's kinda crazy. I used to be able to find 5-10 people to replace inactive accounts in my favorite trading guild fairly easily. Would have to travel to each zone, popping my ad once then going to the next zone etc. Sometimes I would have to hit each zone on characters from different factions, but in an hour or two tops I would have the spots filled.

Now when I go to any zone level 30 or lower I get spammed with people wanting to join. Sometimes 5-10 whispers at the same time responding to my ad.
B2P/TU/CS, all of the above, who knows. But there is clearly a ton of new players right now.

Or people jumping ship from dead guilds?
There's got to be a good chunk of those responding in that category, especially as the guild-based economy fails utterly if guilds become deserted.

I'm seeing plenty of people in game, and plenty of people still showing an interest on the forums. I imagine there are also plenty of people focusing their attention at the moment on the PTS. There may also be some who are holding fire on the PC version because they intend to start over with the console version. What I don't see is a lot of cancellation posts now the initial knee-jerk reaction to the B2P announcement has passed.

Of course not. However, an awful lot of cancellation posts/comments have been made ever since launch and particularly in the aftermath of the B2P announcement. They're not allowed and often they have been closed/removed, but they were nonetheless very evident. My point is that we're not seeing as many now, but we are seeing a lot of players who cancelled earlier coming back to check out 1.6 on the PTS.

Because I don't PvP and I have two high level vet characters so why would I waste the few quests I have left when the XP gained from them won't count towards CP?

If you are having so much fun that you don't care about progression or wasting your non-repeatable quests that is fine but I would rather not waste mine. I could play an alt that is below 50 but honestly I'm a bit burned out on the leveling after doing it multiple times and if I do it again I would rather just wait and do it when my alt has 70+ CP points to make it more interesting.

When I found out that there's no new content coming, I lost the will to keep repeating the same stuff over and over. I've already got 3 VR14 characters. I've done Cadwell's Gold 2x. I've done all the Vet dungeons countless times. The raids are boring. Cyrodiil is a zerg vs. zerg snorefest. I kept playing in hopes of something good coming down the line, but they've said nothing new is coming anytime soon. I log on to feed my horses and say hi to a few friends, then I log off. I'm back to my old MMO: "Forum Wars" while I wait for this game to do something interesting or the next big thing.

My 3 VR characters are sitting tight other than crafting and feeding hay to my horses. I am leveling a Templar to 50 in preps for 1.6, trying to do as little content as possible before the change. If I get that done in time, then I may retire a mule and level another alt, or just wait until the 200 Stacks for Crafting Materials comes into play, then retire a mule. I am also leveling the bag space on two of mule's horses, but that needed to be done anyway.

When I was in Auridon on live last weekend it seemed very busy - new players or alts - I'm not sure.

Many of my guild are busy on the PTS at the moment though. Once you get a taste for pickpocketing it is hard to go back to a world without it ....

So... what you're saying is Er'body's in Er'don?

    Sorry could not resist.

On topic: I feel like there are tons of people in the lower zones though. Even in EP. When I rolled my new alt to help a friend get back into the game, I made many new friends who told me they just started playing, or they came back from like month one because of 1.6

    Honestly:
Them nerfing the end game raid armor has killed my motivation. I primarily PvE and this is my choice in 1.6:
Spend hours grinding cp to get my stats back so I can run a Trial and get worthless gear.
    Or
Walk over to a crafting station and make Hundings Rage which is superior to the Trials gear.
    Hmmmmm I wonder

i fish between action for all mentioned reasons, selling it, getting the trophies,
and really because it's great and relaxing after killing enemies.

I haven't been playing for quite a simple reason... I HAVE NO TIME!!!! >:(

Real life sucks and I've usually been too exhausted and/or mentally drained that it has quite easily killed my mood to play any and all games, not just ESO.

I should also note that I've been here since Beta and Launch, and still plan on being here for quite some time, but priorities of RL come first over gaming any day every day.
