Crown Store repair kits will now repair all items in your inventory. Did they go too far?

Crown Store repair kits will now repair all items in your inventory.

The new Crown Store repair kits:

Regular repair kits:

First the obvious: the new crown store repair kits are undoubtedly better than the regular ones and may more practical to use. Instead of clicking on each item separately, it is now possible to repair all of them at once. They do not however provide a direct advantage on the battlefield.

Even though they are not P2W per say, these new kits are a great cause for concern in my opinion.

They will significantly increase gold gains of players using them.
Let's say an average repair cost while leveling is about 1000g, especially if you can switch gear and still be able to repair everything.
The pack of 10 repair kit costs 400 crowns = 4 dollars.
Congratulations, if you pay 0.4 dollars per repair, you can now save those 1000g.
Add in multiple repairs per day and months of playing ESO, and you get a nice amount of gold saved up using those kits. In my case, I haven't kept track of anything of course, but the total repair costs since april probably amount to over a million gold.

Crafters will never be able to repair gear using materials.
It would make no sense financially for @ZO$ to reduce the effectiveness of one of its probably new best-selling items.

A few threads on the subject:
Repair gear/craft vet gear
Repair gear with gathered materials?
Should players be able to repair gear?
Should players be able to repair gear with mats?
When are master crafters going to be able to repair their own armor?
Allow to repair your own crafting sets for free
I think you get the picture.

Expect a stealth increase of armor decay in the future.
What if armor decayed in PVP? Right now that wouldn't be unbalanced but those kits would change everything.
What if you had to repair in the middle of a dungeon or a trial?
What if random merchants traveling through the zones no longer offered a repair option?
What if armor only decayed slightly faster? Who would notice the difference?

@ZOS_GinaBruno: why did the dev team feel the need to change those kits?
Why did the regular ones stay untouched?

It only makes sense. At the moment I am barely willing to spend in-game gold on a repair kit that repairs one piece at a time, so why would I spend dollars on it? It only makes sense to make these crown repair kits actually worth buying.

And why would anyone pay 0.4 to save 1000g? I wouldn't pay 0.4 to save 100k gold.

I never used kits to begin with. Not worth the extra gold when I can get my stuff fixed at the local chef for lower cost.

It is a less than positive sign that within 2 weeks of saying that crown store items would not be better than those in game they have already got crown store items that are better than those you can get in game.

At what point can they be said to have levelled up from liars to compulsive liars?

With the addition of those Crown Repair Kits, do you honestly think that this suggestion is likely to ever make it into the game?

Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

If the average repair bill is 1,000g and you have repaired 1,000 times since April, that is indeed 1,000,000g on repairs. But, at 400 crowns for 10 repairs, you would need to buy 100 of the cash shop items to cover those repairs.

If you want to spend $400 in real money to save 1,000,000g in make believe fantasy money, be my guest. :-)

    Thats not what was said.

What was said is that Crown store items such as potions would not be better than the equivalent 'craftable' item in game. Repair kits as far as I'm aware aren't a craftable item.

Are we really complaining about repair kits?

Tell that to anyone who has ever bought ingame currency from chinafarmers.

Point being that a lot of people are willing to spend real money on makebelieve fantasy money...

...or on fancy hats for their makebelieve fantasy alter egos for that matter.

I get 1500 crowns a month, I don't really see costumes I'm terribly excited by yet, so repair kits seem the logical choice.

Now, that being said, I could see where nay-sayers are coming from, it could lead to a larger gold pool if you never have to worry about gear repair in-game because you can just rightclick your new shiny blue repair kits.

Still, I play other games that provide a repair type consumable in their cash shop, I'm not shocked to see it.

You're kind of missing a big point here.

Repair kits are a convience when your in a dungeon or trial and you need to save time to repair items. To get the most effectiveness you'd repair thing when they are broken, otherwise you're not getting the full benefit.

This does not, however, take into account rearing from merchants, which is generally much, MUCH cheaper than kits AND only charges you for what is damaged. If we saw that removed or a 3 price increase then your argument might hold water.

Oh, and regarding crafted repair, repair kits would not affect a decision to implement it, assuming you are repairing it at a crafting station. It would be the same time ssd ink as going to the merchant in town. More likely they wouldn't implement it since it would be hard to subdivide materials needed to make the repairs cost effective And comparable to the merchant repair
