Is anyone afraid of what will happen to this community when f2p/b2p comes?

Der_Deutsche_Hase
I'm a tad bit concerned with what's going to happen to this well matured community when it goes into F2P/B2P. I'm concerned because most F2P games usually get a bad reputation with the community because it becomes very toxic, very fast. And because this game is subscription based currently, this means that the adults way out weight the children in numbers currently, and obviously this won't last when it goes into f2p/b2p.

What are your guy's thoughts on this? Does anyone share my concern about this?

I'm afraid the community will no longer have spirited, friendly discussions and all posts will devolve into heated arguments and endless trolling.

This was the first reason why b2p/f2p is bad when I asked about this change in guild chat.

It's going to suck big time. I remember back when Battlefield was a mature community. Then all the COD kids came over and destroyed the community, when BF3 was released.

I just hope that ZoS becomes extremely strict so we can keep some form of maturity in this community. It'll be a shame if this game had the same thing that Happened to Battlefield.

Well I hope the sub fee stays at $15 or better yet I'd do $25.

TSW has an amazing community and it's B2P. Don't use the conversion as an excuse to let the community go to [snip]. Be the ones that help maintain a great community. Be friendly and helpful and don't be a jerk! Be what you want the community to be.

Kind of throwing the baby out with the bathwater don't you think? You must not be as community oriented as you'd like to think.

I may not be the biggest community oriented but I did my part in game to be good to everyone I met. I gave away gold, helped out, never got mad when we wiped, made items for anyone who needed it and gave away motifs to new players. But I remember release, and I know what kind of people where wanting this game to go B2P or F2P so they could play and I have no tolerance for them. I know what's coming and will not stick around to see something I loved get ruined.

I think this will be a good change. Personally subscription based games develop an elitist feel and often shun those who are new or who are not in the circle....it will be good to have a balanced crowd but personally I'm leaving for console.

I'm all for the Xbox one sub based online play when games don't have a subscription added onto of the XBL service subscription model. It's basically moving from one sub base to another where there's an established community that I'm in control of which took years but I like the circles I have and the broader community and people I continue to meet.

PC doesn't have this as it's based on one game.

Lol..You know, I do wonder if it makes sense to limit some forums but I really don't think this has anything to do with a subscription. It's just people...in masses we are all crazy

I'm a tad bit concerned with what's going to happen to this well matured community ....

And here i stopped. Every mmo community calls it's community mature. I don't think TESO's community is that mature. Nothing much will chance. In fact, i look forward to some fresh people. I see the same people everyday online.

I think f2p worked great for SWTOR. Yes, there are some immature people in the chat. But those people are not necessarily f2p players.

Then i read the rest of course

But no.. i am not concered.

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

I'm not sure why there is such an assumption that masses of new players will play ESO when it goes b2p. ESO is an utter failure as a mmo, there is practically no end game content, and the pvp fails to deliver as promised. The solo 1-50 experience isn't bad, but there are far better single player games out there.
There is far too little content, and the game in its current state isn't going to hold a new players interest for long.

I guess we'll find out on March 17th. I'm already at level 50 and in no hurry to do Vet levels, so I'll probably be wandering around. I've been unsubbed for a while though, so I guess I'll check out the new stuff that I missed while away.

I don't think that's fair. That's like assuming the majority of the current ESO community are whiny, entitled, elitist jerks based on what you see on these forums. Sure there will be more trolls/jackasses but it will also bring in plenty of great new people.

I wanted this game to be B2P from it's announcement, I would not have purchased the game if I had not gotten a chance to be part of the beta testing and get to experience first-hand it's massive potential. I wasn't sold on the idea of another sub based game after my experience with SWTOR. Most of my guild felt the same way prior to their first beta test. Now imagine how many people like us never got the chance to "demo" the game. Don't assume the vocal minority is the majority. To each their own but I love this game and it's potential too much to abandon ship so soon. I sincerely hope you'll make your way back eventually and will be pleasantly surprised by the community.

in this game, no. keep in mind that /ignore is account bound not character bound. its not simply a matter of making a new character to find groups again, you need a new account.

The community is what you make of it. There will still be good people, and more will join them. There will be a fair sprinkling of immaturity, to say the least, but it won't be as bad as a lot of other F2P games, I think.

I"m hoping between the Angry Joe reviews, and WoW, most kiddo's will choose to stay away. Plus there is still the initial purchase.

My best advice would be to stick to PC version if it really concerns you. I'll make an uneducated guess and say that console versions will be slightly more toxic.

Edit: Reworded first paragraph, for Joe.

All the end game folks who will absolutely leave this game over the 1.6 changes arent all bad people. Your statement is saying all people leaving the game are bad
