Guild MOTD notification

I like the alert when somebody changes the MOTD; it's something I've wanted for a long time. However, PLEASE, PLEASE, give us an option to turn it off. It should be on by default, but we need a way to turn it off.

I'm already getting feedback from my guild that it's supremely annoying. People don't necessarily like automatic or forced notifications of things. They like them to be opt-out.

(Just to clarify & emphasis ... when you give us new things like this, please make them optional whenever feasible. You'd see a lot less arguing on the forums if more things were optional.)

Really the biggest issue is that the Notifications icon is obnoxious. It hovers there out-of-place at all times, and it's never anything crucial.

If it just hid along with the chat box and didn't have a sound all of the notification issues would suddenly be a lot more bearable.
    Thank Stendarr it’s Fredas.

I like it as a concept. However, the notification should appear once per account. Not, as it is now, once per character.

Honestly, if I'm logged on and get a notification that the MOTD has changed, and then switch char and get the same notification again, it's plain confusing!

Yours is a better solution, @baratron. As a guild leader, I need a way to make guild-wide announcements even to those who don't bother to read the MOTD or the website. However, once per account should certainly be sufficient and a decent compromise between communication and spam.

Yes on both counts. It should be once per account not character. Having to delete the same 4 messages on every character is supremely annoying and the notifications keep coming back (unsure if they are even being changed..doesn't look like it). They should also be *optional*. We should be able to turn those off just like the leader-board spam. Common sense. Use it please.

Just found this thread while trying to see if anyone else was having this issue to and it seems so. Every time I log onto one of my characters I end up with the notification blinking on side from the same guild and lot times I can;t tell a difference in the message so not sure if someone is changing it a lot or what... it;s just getting annoying and am having to delete it on every character I log on multiple times a day. I agree, once per amount should be enough. Then the rest... well I might have to see if someone is changing it multiple times a day, see if that is why keep getting the notification again later after removed it before.
