Before 1.6 patch:
Dk: 1 great istant self-heal, no skill against low health players
Sorcerers: no istant self-heal,1 skill against low health players
Nightblades:no istant self-heal,1 skill against low health players
Templars:1 great istant self-heal,no skill against low health player

1.6 patch:
Dk:1 great istant self-heal,no skill against low health players
Sorcerers:no istant self-heal,1 skill against low health players
Nightblade:no istant self-heal,1 skill against low health players
Templars:1 great istant self-heal,1 skill against low health players

What? Templars should NOT have both of them.

What templars have is not a self heal at all. In PvP it is highly unrealiable as the chance of there being someone with even lower health within 30m is quite high. Also, the heal is quite expensive for anyone not in full light armor, so spamming it is not an option for most pvp-geared templars.

Besides, I think your view is too narrow.

    Sorcerers can also streak away.
NBs can use their cloak, get bonuses for attacking from stealth, have siphoning skills to get hp back etc.
DKs also have a lot more abilities that are powerful and useful, chains, standard, etc.

Also streak( which you are not supposed to spam since it will cost 50% more), dark cloak and other magicka skills are expensive for anyone not in full light armor.

Templars heal is not a self heal. It will target anyone near instead which happens a lot unless timed right. You are also trying to balance just two things in terms of each other when there are many other factors to take into account.

My point is, templars don't have the mobility, so they need survivability. This survivability doesn't come from the heal you're talking about, its actually from Blazing Shield, which is much cheaper, reliable and does damage as well.

Also, it just doesn't make sense singling out 2 criteria and declare a class OP because it happens to match those two (while you could list a dozen more different criteria easily).

Balancing 4 classes with so many unique abilities is much more sophisticated than that.

Kaliki is still right though, as BoL is unreliable no matter the armor and puncturing sweeps is easily evaded or blocked or negated, and healing ritual too long to cast safely in a fight.

A Templar is not as dangerous as you think, and iirc, don't the other classes also get some lovely toys to play with as well? And dragonknights have a semi execute now through igneous weapons don't they?

I mean correct me if I'm wrong, please do, but this is not as black and white as you think it is.
Bobbity Boop, this game might become poop, but I'll still play because I'm just a pile of goop!

the Templar execute is overhyped in my opinion. It is channeled; and, as a result, can be interrupted by bashes, crushing shock, venom arrow, and other interrupting abilities.

Heck if you want to talk about balance, the sorcerer and the NB are actually the UP classes BECAUSE of their lack of a quick self heal:/ NB siphoning attacks don't heal for very much, and sorcerers have to score critical hits with critical surge, which is heavily negated by impenetrable trait armor.

I feel that I should mention that I fully support Sorc's Surge being changed and Nightblades getting a more potent/real self heal.
