Champion System

I've seen a lot of complaints about how all current builds were ruined recently, but to be honest, our builds were too easily put together. It didn't actually feel like we put in any work in the builds, except from leveling the various skills. As the champion system was introduced, you actually have to spend time to obtain points and spend them wisely in order to create a functional build.

The only thing I am concerned about is that obtaining champion points might be too time consuming. Several hours for one champion point seems like a tad too much, especially when you can only obtain them in the veteran ranks.

Thoughts?

Completely disagree. The buff system implemented in 1.6 dumbs down builds a whole lot more than they are now. The champion system also does not offer near the amount of character variety and choices that you might think.

I see your point, but I didn't want to post and have my thoughts flooded by other posts complaining about the new update.

Compared to what we have now - yes, it does. They simply standardized the buffs to avoid buff-stacking builds that made the game very unbalanced.

We need as many threads as possible on this. It's a stupid system that takes years to achieve anything. Its insulting if you add in all the nerfs

You need to take a step back and see this all in perspective. Was it easy to obtain a good build previously? Yes. Will this change help complicate the process and promote actual work put into builds? Yes.

Even though it might be bitter that some builds are rendered as less useful than before, this change will benefit the game and builds in the big picture. Though, as stated before, might be too time consuming obtaining the points.

Dude I called the CP system an endless grind when they first announced it and I stick by that today. It's game progression without adding any actual game play and the cheapest way for a developer to provide "content". It's far worse than the VR grind we currently have.

It's only a grind if you're dumb enough to think that you can "win" the game by accruing the maximum number of Champion Points. If you instead treat it as a lifting of pressure and the ability to play any content you like in order to continue to progress on your character, who knows? You may even have fun playing a game.

On the flipside, you could level and grind up a brand new toon to VR14 in a week or two pretty easily, this was before they nerfed the grind spots to hell. You could say the writing was on the wall back then.

As an MMO, 'we' the players will find every *** in every piece of armour and work it to our advantage.

    Devils advocate.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

    A'marta - AD Sorc Tank
    Kijima - AD DK Derps
    Annure - AD NB Derps
Boom Crash Opera - AD Sorc DPS

the diminishing returns of the champion system along with it being 4x harder to earn a CP when not enlightened feels like a double kick in the teeth to dedicated players.

its not about reaching 3600 champion points...its about the fact they severely nerfed armor and characters and expect us to take 4 hours per 1 cp to get back to normal progression pre 1.6. Also its going to be like 200 points needed. Its unacceptable. I had fun playing the game for 10 months...but im not going to gain cp points running Trials when a run on the pts right now if way harder to complete and only rewards 1400 exp...towards 400k needed for a point. the game will break if 1.6 drops like it is right now on pts

What he said. This issue is not that of "winning". It's pegging back character progression.
