1.6 DELETED ITEMS - Big Problem Here

I wanted to bring to everyone's attention a HUGE bug that I encountered on the PTS. I already reported this in game, but it is serious enough that I thought I should post about it here.

Basically, I discovered that a lot of my items were deleted when converting to 1.6

What happened was, I had upgraded all my alts personal bags to 80, and they all had a fully fed Imperial horse with 50 space for a total of 130 bag space each. Upon upgrading to 1.6, a horse is not selected by default, and they lost all the items between 80 and 130, which was in some cases a very significant loss of items.

In addition, the total amount of bag space was not updated until I actually fed my horse again, or trained my self or whatever, and you can see in the picture that I am sitting on my mount that has 50 bag space and am still limited to 80. It is not until I fed again that the limit went up to 80/131.

The character in my screenshots had between 30-40 items deleted in this manner. Most of my alts carry over 80 items at any given time, and all told, this was quite a substantial loss in terms of overall items to my account.

I have screenshots below for proof.

I really, really hope Zenimax addresses this, or there could be a lot of angry people come patch day. Personally, I'm going to try and limit the amount of items that are on my characters when the patch gets pushed to the server, and try to keep them under 80, or whatever their personal bag limit is. I would advise everyone here to do the same.

I hope this warning reaches the right people.

And can anyone else confirm that this bug happens to them? I'm surprised that no one else has mentioned this sort of thing happening yet.

Also, in case anyone asks, I am not using any addons on the PTS.

I see... that would indeed be a problem. One can hope they will find and fix that particular issue before things go live... otherwise there may be a great waitling and cursing to be heard all over the megaservers...

Shouldn't be too hard to have the system auto-select the current hose and properly apply its translated-into-mount-skill inventory bonus on game mechanic update, right?

Other people have had this happen to them too. I totally agree about the seriousness of this problem: 1.6 cannot go live without a fix that will prevent this. If it does, CS will be completely swamped with angry players demanding their items back. It'll be the bank bug all over again, and we all know what a bad taste that left in everyone's mouths.

I strongly suggest you post your info there to help show that it's not isolated to one person, and to signal boost it.

I thought this might happen to other people too. Can anybody else confirm this bug happening to them first-hand?

I just logged in today to try out the Justice System and Provisioning, but instead discover this game breaking bug lol

Just in case, I'd suggest everyone select a mount with no upgraded carrying capacity before 1.6 launches.

You know, I firmly believe that the phrase "game breaking bug" gets thrown around way too much. In this case, this bug is a big enough problem (or it will be if it makes it to the live server) that "game breaking" is probably justified.

Thanks Tristan, I really hope you can run this up the chain to someone. I think it's in Zenimax's best interests to fix this before 1.6 goes live.

I and others have previously made /bug reports about this while logged onto PTS. It's a HUGE problem.

I will wait to see what happens when 1.6 goes live. I seriously doubt people are going to like the result..... Better get prepared to not have any items over what your character can carry without a horse.....between this issue and the item conversions we'll all going to lose about 50 items.

Yep. This needs to be fixed before this goes live. It did happen to me too. As a result, I lost all my lockpicks.

It happened to me on the first character I logged in on. I have not noticed it as happening on any other of my 8 characters, but it did happen to the first one I played after updating the PTS client. Bad bug indeed.

one of my friends just told me he got hit hard with this as well, he lost 65+ items all from bound rare gear like worm cult, to legendary rings from weekly

his thinking of leaving the game, if their aint any solution to get it back

Over a test server character? It's good this happened to test server character's as it found a nasty bug. I.E. The purpose of the test server.

no on live somehow to a vendor bug, thought it had something to with him jumping back and forward between test.

When did you update the bags? I believe the character copies are a week or two old, so recent changes you made on live wouldn't be present.

It took me a moment or two to confirm this bug, but I did.
I have one toon that uses an Imperial Horse. This toon lost over 23 items due to this bug.
My other seven toons all use Palomino Horses (I do have both because I absolutely hate the color of the Imperial Horse). The seven toons with Palomino Horse had their bags come through unscathed!!!

I have multiple characters that carry near their bag limit most of the time, well over 100 items. I am absolutely positive they are missing items.

It's not like all their inventories just happened to be at 80, and then I dumped a bunch of items on them after they were copied over.

I am absolutely certain the items were deleted, and other people have confirmed it happened to them as well.

If ZOS doesn't currently have a feature where they can review a players inventory as of a certain point and restore it back to that point they need to get one fast. It resolves losses that we have due to bugs or hacking. People aren't going to stand for their items disappearing and ZOS doesn't do a thing about it.

My guess is they will fix this carrying capacity bug before live.
My guess is that all my toons on PTS will lose everything when they are erased next week
I know this bug is related to the Imperial Horse but a Palomino Horse has no problem. They wont bother fixing it on PTS is my guess since NA will be working with templates next week anyways.
I wonder if they will fix it before EU gets copied though.

Good catch, I'll be checking all my alts before 1.6 goes live. ZO$ will have a nightmare on it's hands if this is not corrected before.
