1.6 Free race change [1.6.x MAJOR CHANGES] [Confirmed: Stamina OP]

    What I really wish however, would be for the champion system to mollify any racial differences. Champion system should really nearly-nullify any advantage between any race. A Bosmer should be able to at least come very close to the same bonuses that an Altmer has toward lightning damage, lets say. A Nord should be able to get nearly the same benefit toward Fire damage as a Dunmer, and so forth. I don't know if that is how the system works, but that would work toward ameliorating some of the oddities behind the stats.
    They might add some plastic surgeon or a mage that will change your race for gold/crowns. Champion system wouldn't nulify anything, unfortunately. Say, bosmer can get bonuses to lightning damage, but is there anything that prevents altmer to get those bonuses on top of what they already have?

    Another thing that would help is to make achievements account-wide. Then we can just level a char of a new race which won't take that much time after they remove veteran ranks.

    What's the point of choosing a race if you don't take advantage of its bonuses?

    My Breton spell cost reduction took a big Nerf and its noticable, the only reason I chose Breton over Altmer was because of that cost reduction...because you know...i wanted to be a caster sorc...makes sense to be a Breton on DC.

    If they drastically changes racials, folks should be given a race change, many entire builds were based on those bonuses, trust me they matter.

    My Breton can outcast an altmer because my spells are always cheaper, on live 1 point of cost reduction = 2 magic regen, cost reductions were nerfed, I got jipped no matter what build I have, that 3% cost reduction most certainly matters and is part of the reason I outlast folks in pvp...it's no longer 3% and its noticeable. Argonians got it worse, no one picks a race and don't take advantage of its passives, racial passives do matter, the Breton cost reduction in particular really matters, it's a damn game changer.

    Check on PTS all racial passives decreasing elemental damage got weaker:
    Dunmer - Flame Resist - 2016
    Argonian/Bosmer - Poison andDiesease - 1440
    Cold resist - 2016

    Dark Elf is not alone.

    I've been playing the whole week on PTS to test things, i've seen alot of duels too, and it goes like this : Removing caps on pools mainly, is great for everyone.
    A sorc can teleport easy 20-30 times in a row! A stam build can roll probably from the edge of cyrodiil to the other edge without having to stop. That's great too. In combat is diferent. There's the chicken sorc build, ball of lightning, defensive posture, stacking shields. Thats cool, works as long as you keep your shields up. But in a fight, i don't wanna play my sorc Chicken style. I wanna be in middle of the fight or somewhere close to that point. And the diference of stamina/mana builds is that, you stay alive as long as you can cc break to recast your dmg shields, which are great, (23k hardened ward, 22k dampen magic and i bet u can push them even further), but when u run out of stamina to break CC, you're pretty dead. On the other hand, a 2hander, or dual wield, with full stam, will keep dealing damage and breaking CC way longer after the mana build is dead. This is the only reason people will take a stamina build over a mana build, and the lucky ones that have the right Race will win over a High Elf Sorc trying to make a 2hand build....

    I will. Thanks for pointing that out. However, I wouldn't take too serious the racial passives in 1.6.2 as they seem to be a joke, I definitelly expect tweaks in 1.6.3 and further.

    Added to OP changes to Argonian passives, even though it's old news it's good to have it documented in this thread.

    It is funny, when I first read the idea of a race change I thought: no way it is too profound a change (sort of like a class change) to be permitted. But with all the changes to the game over the year I am actually seeing the sense in it. I would certainly change the race of my main with how the game has evolved. I would like to see the name change option to go with that so I can set to a name that makes sense with the new race.

    I suspect in the end this is something that is not going to happen, but as time goes along it is seeming less crazy to me.

    I think they should just remove the passives and give each race an active skill. It would be a lot easier to balance that way. I think the racial passives are too OP. What race you choose should be based on aesthetics and lore, not on min/maxing your character.

    This is beyond sad. Race change is one of the most absurd suggestions I've read on this forum.

    There are eight character slots in game. If you don't like your character's racial abilities, then just click the create new character button and pick one you like.

    Boosts and nerfs are a part of this genre. Some race/class combinations are overpowered and others are underpowered. So the developers make tweaks to balance things. And over time, people will discover the next overpowered / underpowered combinations and pick their class/race accordingly. And no doubt the developers will make tweaks again.

    If you're a person advocating race-change, do you expect every time that a change is made to a racial ability in order to balance the game and make it fairer for other players, that you're allowed to change your race so you can pick the next FOTM combination?

    What next? Because changes were made to armour, should the developers give people the option to 'respec' the gear they've spent a long time collecting? Allow players to convert light armour to heavy armour at no cost of time or materials? Sounds childish, doesn't it? Well the race change suggestion is even more ridiculous than this!

    For me, the Argonian passives have always kinda stunk... And yet I play exclusively Argonians! Because they are just awesome... Life is easier if you stop caringn about the racials.

    With removal of soft and hard cap racial skills matter a lot now. You would have to be ignorantly blind to not see that.

    They should allow racial changes but I don't think they can. The game engine and code bugs are probably not built for it without creating a lot more headaches than they would solve.

    Why is it absurd? You do know that 9/10 MMO's offers race change, together with the ability to change faction, gender, body, server, name and so on. Obviously not for free.

    ESO isn't that special, it's like any other commercial MMO(but with richer lore and better animation). So rest assured, everything besides class change, will eventually be in the Crown Store. My guess 6-12 months from now. There's really nothing that prevents it in ESO either, since race has no impact on completed quest-lines, achievements, character history or starter areas.

    I get what you're saying but I don't agree here. Yeah sure I can just create a new character, but I don't want to reroll a new character just for another race. I'm playing with only my mage Redguard DK since launch, which I've spent +1500hours into. To put that aside is for me no option. I have completed Gold, every PvE aspect, have many titles, +290 skillpoints, +10k achievements and got to a high PvP rank which I'm all really proud of, but now my mage gets 'nerfed' pretty hard because of removal softcaps while in 1.5 it is no problem at all. The difference between a mage Redguard DK and a mage Dunmer DK is really big, and does a lot in PvP and endgame.

    So for me this racial swap is very interesting, as it is for many others. They said play the game you want, and now I'm 'forced' to lvl up another one? No, not for me. They changed game completely so to make it fair, I do think they should give us the option, at the cost of crowns which is actually interesting for ZOS (and thus us).

    It will not impact console players because they will be able to create their character based on 1.6 new game mechanics and functionality, whereas current players created builds before knowing that the game will change almost completely, many of us put alot of time in their characters since the launch and this mess can not be solved by creating a new character and chose a new race, like a fellow forumist said above.

    On the other hand, it's a feature that can be milked in crown store, I assume it's alot of work (coding) that ZoS might not be willing to give for free, even though they should. It's not my fault they failed the first launch and they want to realease the game again after 1 year with such changes of impact on the current players.

    Because changing your race is lore friendly. Lol. I can care less about changing race. All I care about is the ability to be in whatever faction you want regardless of race. THAT is lore friendly. Heck, that is reality friendly. People can be traitors or outcasts, why not?

    1.6 - magika builds completely dead. I'm getting whispers from my friends complaining how magika just doesn't work in 1.6 one of the reasons being because its BY MUCH UNDER STAMINA BUILDS and how the race they chose around magika builds now it's completely useless and add nothing to the new meta, while stamina racial passives are CRITICAL! I am pretty sure you too have at least one friend in your buddy list that rolled a Redguard because Stamina.
    I am probably not going to elaborate my opinion related to the death of magika because I stopped caring but I will keep fighting for #freeracechange because we deserve it.

    It makes me sad when I see people willing to pay for a race change when it's pretty obvious we should get the opportunity to a FREE race change because 1.6 TURNED THE GAME UPSIDE DOWN just to milk the cow for the last time.

    In PVP, magicka builds still rule the world.
    In PVE, stamina build have been buffed.
    So it's very important to provide the exact context when stating "stamina is OP"

    They got a lot weaker because they didn't scaled the values like they did with Armour and Spell resist.

    I play a High Elf Sorc. So, my stats went like this

    Pre 1.6 :
    7 Light : 900 armor
    PVP with Food : 3000+ HP 2500 mana

    1.6 :
    7 Light : 360 armor
    PVP with Food : 2400 hp 2500 mana

    I was forced to go 5 L to keep spell pen bonus, and 2 heavy to get to at least 900 armor , because of the overall NERFS !
    Doing this i lost 6% spell reduction and some spell regen.

    When everyone is runing Stamina builds, even some Sorcs, i can't be runing with 360 armor around, after the sorc dmg shield nerf. I made a Sorc because i want to play it Spell based, and i don't like the ideea of 1.6 changes that forces people go Stamina build even if they don't want to.

    Now people come to the thread and talk about MIN/MAXER ? Ofc Race change matters. Having that 9% extra stat or not, means you get 2-3k more pool which also increases your overall dmg in most of the Skills.

    For now i'm ok with my spell based build , but i don't know about others that can't play anymore their Class/Race spell based, and can't switch to stamina builds either, because they will have no bonuses to complement the build.

    Well : Me goes like this : Crush shock, Crystal Frag, Auto atack, Lightning Fury, etc
    Stam user goes like this : Roll Dodge, Roll, Wait i haz a bow, 30% speed Buff, Roll, Roll, What's up mate u can't target/chase me ? Roll, Roll, U MADBRO ?
