1.6 Free race change [1.6.x MAJOR CHANGES] [Confirmed: Stamina OP]

    Race should mean something, if a player wants a new race, roll a new alt or live with it. If ZOS starts treating race as a number game, it will take meaning and purpose of lore. Like or not, ESO is and should always be based on lore and not some random number. We have 8 char slots, learn how to use them.

    No. ESO is a multiplayer MMO game, not a single player game. In a single player game like TES: Oblivion, you can have extreme imbalances between such as where Bretons could gain 100% immunity to all spells just by equipping a single ring.

    Therefore, if ESO is to be a successful MMO game, it must deal with imbalances to racial passives.

    The problem at the moment is that racial passives are very imbalanced, and this is hurting gameplay. But because the devs have shown no ability to fix these issues, it is only proper for them to grant players the ability to change race.

    First of all ESO is a MMO, only later it is ES game. What we got from ZOS in April 2014 was more like alpha ESO, how were we supposed to know how the gem will change? Current 1.6 patch is like ESO 2.0 with a lot of changes. Bonuses to max stats with removed softapcs now mean a lot more then they used to.

    Our racial change won't hurt lore, as nobody will ever know who changed a race of his/her character. Making an alt is not an option for a lot of players: there is skill progression, achievements, PvP rank... a lot more. Days of gameplay. That's why we, the players, are asking for a race change.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno‌
    @ZOS_JessicaFolsom‌

    care to come out of hiding and comment or will you keep pretending that nobody asks for a race change?

    If everyone can change race at will, then race will mean nothing. Thus Races should never be changeable at any time.

    ESO is an TES game 1st, then MMO 2nd. Min / Maxers just have to learn to deal with it. I do not really care if they cry a river or not, Lore / Race is more important then builds on random numbers.

    The issue being discussed in this topic is not whether ESO is an MMO or TES game first, but ZOS's incompetence in both dealing with racial passive ballance and their complete silence regarding this particular topic. Would be really nice if they would finally respond.

    Racial bonuses are minimal impact. Nothing in those passives would warrant a race change.

    They will update/change all Racials in a future Patch, after that, there should be a free Race Change,
    They should also implement a Race Change for Crowns into the Store. Always a good way to make some money.

    Just someone who want to make ESO into a WoW clone or a P2W game. No thanks!

    By thinking this way: we are already getting Crown Store with vanity items and exp boost. ESO is becoming a GW2 clone!

    Getting one similar similar feature to what already is in a different MMO does not make a game a clone.

    Races who were limited before 1.6 finally can have an advantage with the soft cap removal. These players now can enjoy it, Their time finally came.
    Because I can!

    the racial changes are so minor not a chance. If you rolled your "race" to get that extra "l33t pew pew" gamer boy win, your bad.

    This is why you role what you LIKE rather than playing the COD fanboi pain train.

    No racial change FTW.

    Every race should be equally viable for any build just with a pinch of some special racial taste (lore-based, maybe?), but it's sad to understand that you breton can't be good in stamina build compared to redguard and redguard can't be a competitive mage.
    Would be nice if players didn't depend on balance tweaks and changes of meta.

    Some special costumes, called polymorphs, will also be available. These are costumes that change your entire appearance, including your character’s model.

    But that's not a "race" change.

    With the upcoming changes in 1.6 to combat mechanics and to stamina/magika/hp functioning, we can safely assume that some racial passives won't be optimal anymore for some builds. Some of the players chose a specific race to fit a defined build and playstyle wich in 1.6 may or may not be obsolete.

    That said, I think we should be given the option to a one time change race to all of our characters on the account.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno‌ any word on this?

    I don't think so. While most usually pick their race for Min/Max in a MMO you have to be aware that some abilities a race has won't be as optimal as it was before.

    Others chose their race based on aesthetics or RPing purposes. You should be one of the those people.

    Eitherway it doesn't matter, if the racial's aren't optimal you can put the skill points you put into those racials into something else.

    Clearly you're an RP/casual player. For example Argonian, Nord, Khajiit etc. will always have lower max stats than Imperial Breton etc. , no matter what he or she does.

    Not needed, the min/maxers can re-roll if they want to, the implications for allowing a race change are simply far too huge to even consider: PVP, PVE progression, crafting, etc.

    Racials never have been critical in order to play any build, the game isn't designed to require 'optimal' builds and PVP is always a case of player-skill >>> class-spec.

    I want a race change now, the % mean allot now and the passive to do extra fire damage 7% in the dunmer elf passives is huge to the damage of over 1k and up small values mean allot hence the champion point system. I want a race change now.

    Said with the derision of a min/maxer, or maybe hardcore elitist .. is that what you intended?

    Incredible how many naysayers there are in this thread.

    Who cares if someone else race changes. It doesn't effect anyone else but the person who race changed.

    Heck your race makes up 4 skills... that's it! Hurts nothing.

    There's enough concern about the slowdown in future content already, of course people are going to complain about a request for the developers' attention to be further distracted by what those players consider to be a wholly unnecessary change.

    What's unneecessary is 1.6

    Unless you have the Explorer's Pack your race is tied to your faction, if your race change changes faction then your leveling experience is invalid, also in PVP terms the entire balance of factions will likely be impacted.

    One's choice of race is a core decision when creating a leveling a character, changing it on a whim .. or in the current context as a hissy fit .. doesn't only affect the person concerned.

    Race change is fine, since are minimal but are big part of the player and the game. Faction changes tho. Never. People have grinded multiple characters on different factions and this would be a big insult to those players. You really want to leave your faction? Well its not a VIP cruise to the other side, but along difficult journey. #immersion

    How does that change anything?

    Unless you have the Explorer's pack your race is tied to your faction.

    OK. Did anyone think this would be any different?

    No one asked for Faction change which for reasons already stated by ZoS is too hard to do right now.

    Race change does not change anything that effects anyone but the person who race changed. It's a 4 skill point swap. If you race change it doesn't change anything for me, If I race change it doesn't change anything for you.

    My main character is a nord, arguably the race with the worst racial bonus. But, he can casually smash faces in the way he likes. I build the way I want to do what I need to crush skulls, effectively, in game. Ultimately, I wouldn't care if he had racial handicaps instead of the crappy bonuses, simply because Nords have been my favorite race since Daggerfall.

    Personally, I don't care what people do as far as changing their race. But, calling people casuals for not worrying about a small difference in stats? Come on now. This really isn't that hardcore of a game to begin with, seriously.
