It's upto us collectively as a community to make sure that p2w never rears it's ugly head. With consoles players maybe being more demanding for p2w types item we have to say "NO". It's also upto us to battle the trolls and muppets that come with a larger population.
They have repeatedly stated that convenience and cosmetic items only in the crown store .
That being said i'm still a bit skeptical, they did tell lies recently or at the very least they were economical with the truth.
This forbes article suggests that ESO will clean up on consoles due to the lack of viable competitors.

Usually a sub model fails because it doesn't hold enough subs. The reason for the change here is rebranding for the console market.
They're been negotiating with microsoft and they finally managed to get a deal that works for everybody apart from a minority who support the sub fee only idea compared to the larger main console customer base.
The dlc model closely resembles skyrim as does the console ui model.
Roughly 36% of skyrim sales can be attributed to xbox.
At first when i saw news i said "oh no this is Swtor all over again"
Watching the twitch stream changed my mind however and suddenly it looks like the model could work.
So i'm staying positive new content on the way and influx of new players coming in.
It if all goes pear shaped i've been meaning to level my cats in hello kitty online in preparation for the new expansion "clouds of catagonia".
