Did ZOS just imply that the justice system PVP component may or may not ever be implemented?

This remains to be determined - I've been pretty clear that PvP justice is pretty scary from a game balance perspective, and we need to be very careful how we implement it. If/when it makes it in to the game, it will not be as part of a paid DLC.

If? Why did he say IF/when? Is there talk of scrapping the pvp element?

you have to understand how many variables go into the whole idea of open world pvp. They simply are not ready to put it in yet and may not be for a few months.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect to see it anymore. If they already say that is a possiblity, that says a lot, and recent events have taught us to expect the worse scenario.

That would explain "when". Doesnt explain why he said "if". If suggests it may never be an option.

It suggests that something has come up. Either as part of development or in internal testing. The game balance thing isn't an idle issue, either. So, yeah, this might not happen because of design considerations that they can't overcome. Which would be really sad.

Keep stringing the players along. Keep their hopes up. Keep dangling that carrot in front of them. Keep them paying $ for as long as possible.

Yes they did. They lied to keep us playing.

It's a terrible practice to say we will be doing this. Then say this will come after for balancing reasons, then to say if it comes. Management has losing a lot of good faith.

Can you tell me where that statement came from? It might be a personal opinion of that representative which seems to happen a lot and is not necessarily the majority of the thoughts at ZOS.
I truly hope they implement the PvP as it would add a fresh element, but honestly what other MMO would allow you to steal and fence an item? Either way going to push a limit of what is allowed in an MMO.

That statement was from Matt Frior president of ZOS on the reddit AMA.

It won't be in this version of ESO. Maybe with an expansion a couple years from now. They have to sell boxes....

If you don't get this message from what happened this week, you should try to take it into your head in a serious way. Everything about this game, no matter who told it to you, no matter who said it, is conditional. Nothing that you think you have been promised is assured to happen. The VR ranks might never leave the game. The justice system might never happen. There might not ever be another expansion or DLC of any kind. The only thing you can be sure of is that there will be a cash shop and that you can buy a wedding dress and ride a pig in the game if you are willing to pay for it.

Actually the only thing I can be sure of is that ZOS will never get another dime from me because while I can't control their actions I can always control mine.

I will still log in from time to time, but will no longer be vested in this game and therefore have zero expectations. I simply no longer care what happens to ESO, good or bad.

What I got out of what they said was it will be released in intervals and the pvp element will be released when everything is working, this is a huge change to the game, everything from npc reactions to new vo's all need to be working before the pvp part starts.

He said if/when tho not just when. Seems to me to imply they might not be able to execute that part to the point they feel comfortable adding it to the live servers.

Spellcrafting WILL be added. At 100 crowns per spell component.

    P2W

But probably not due to arrive anytime soon...

1.6 is so late because of balancing issues - remember how scared they were converting XP to CP so they went to a flat 30CP before going back to a conversion rate half that originally envisaged?

Spellcrafting, PvP, VR removal - all involve balancing issues, and I suspect all will be "delayed".

    Probably delayed into oblivion...

Oh please stop being so freaking naive. This will just be another fkover by ZOS. And they'l keep adding them to the pile, trust me. This game will go down as the biggest management disaster ever in MMO land and even worse treatment of customers than EA.

My concern is that they may pull the PvP aspect not because of technical considerations, but more so because they received feedback from a segment of players who don't wish to witness PvP anyplace where their PvE-only characters may be.

Heck, I know last year when we Psijic Order testers had discussions about dueling, I firmly came down on the side where I wanted duels to take place in their own instances where I didn't have to witness it other playes dueling. I felt that dueling would be disruptive for players trying to do their own thing.

Ideally, I'd like to have Justice System PvP participants phase out into their own instance to minimize disruption for non-participants. If that's not doable, I still want the PvP portion to be a part of this game and I'll be very disappointed if it's not.

I agree with @kevlarto_ESO that the PvP portion of the Justice System is a huge change to the game. I just hope ZOS isn't having second thoughts about altering the flavor of ESO to incorporate this style of play.

I don't think an unkillable city guard on the side of an "enforcer" player would be a fair "PvP element".

I'm looking forward to the arrival of the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild "stuff" when it comes and what form it comes in.

I raise my glasses to well considered Justice.
