Does this mean no new content for 6 months?? Yes, it does.

I think it's pretty obvious that they decided to hold back a lot of the content they'd been working on (imperial city, orsinium, murkmire, etc) to sell as DLC . And, In some ways i feel as if i will have to pay for the development of that content twice (the 9+ months of sub already paid, plus the DLC price or continued sub price). That being said, the thing that worries me the most is that we might have to wait until June 9th, assuming day 1 DLC (which in and of itself is offensive) or later until they release any additional real content.

Will they be holding back PC content updates so that additional content launches simultaneously on console and PC??

To be clear, even though 1.6 is a big update, i don't really consider it to be a major content update given that, for the most part, it's a series of updates to fix broken systems and poor decisions. Yes, i know some people might consider "phase 1" of the Justice System to be new content, but frankly, being able to pickpocket/steal some mundane items or kill npc's (only to be swiftly destroyed by an indestructible guard) isn't particularly compelling without the Thieves Guild/Dark Brotherhood.

So, when will we get some real content???

My guess, given that it's going f2p, is probably every 6-9 months, and only a handful more times total during the life of the game. I would also assume all PC content will be slowed down to have simultaneous release across platforms.

Almost all their time now probably will be spent adding baubles for sale to the cash shop.

this is exactly how i feel. paying twice for the development of some of the stuff they showed us. The main reason i stayed sub was looking forward to Imperial City. Thats what got them my 15bucks a month, if they come out with it and i have to buy it again as DLC ill feel kinda ripped off. The sub we already paid is supposed to be used for future content. why would i pay someone to make something so they can sell it to me again at the same price as someone that didn't pay them to make it.

We can give up hope on a lot of things.

I'm really interested in knowing more about the pricing of DLC, if any, between March 17 and the console release on June 9. Will everybody have to pay for this DLC, thus making the game incomplete for console players? Or will PC players be required to pay for it while console players get it for free? Or will all DLC be free during that time?

This thread poses a good question. From what was said on Twitch, sounded like console release will be ver 1.6 in June. That may make sense given we should be seeing 1.6 soon (we hope), and considering the need to lock down the console version to accommodate production logistics. The question is, will PCs see version 1.7 by June. We should, if ZOS sticks to the promised release plan. On the other hand, how many months has it been since 1.5 was released. At this point it seems crazy to believe anything ZOS said before B2P announcement.

The sub you were paying paid for what you were playing, the updates and new content being created… true.

If you just keep paying the sub, you are still doing all of that… or you can wait and pay a chunk when it comes out, having received a break in having to pay the sub while you waited.

Either way, there is no real "rip off"… not sure where that comes from.

Probably won't get 1.6 still March 17th (might be before but i wouldn't hold my breath). It will probably be on PTS between Jan 26th and Feb 9th. I doubt there will be DLC before console so next DLC will most likely be around August/September. Most likely next DLC with be in December depending on how well console sales first DLC did.

Yeaaaa.... I did. I knew it was a long shot but I hope in like.... 6 years or so? After all of Tamriel was opened and an update that adds a robust ship and pirate mechanic to the game, that we would open up more of Nirn.

What can I say? I'm a dreamer.

I bet they have 3 or 4 finished DLC "packs" ready to go... they need to keep pumping them out now to make money.... that is the positive of this, once the box sales dry up the only ways they can make money is DLC and Cash Shop.

My guess is that they'll slow down updates until the console release. I'm especiallt curious about Imperial City. Launch it as Day One DLC on console? Even if they do that, launch it same time on PC or earlier so it has at least one patch before the console launch?

I would think they would try to provide content regularly to give people a short term impression of "see, even though we went b2p it's business as usual! " I don't think it will be sustained (though dearly hope I'm wrong), and I don't think they will leave the store as a non-intrusive entity within the game.

This is Spot on, im not sure what people are complaining about.

The only thing anyone should be complaining about is as follows:

They now have shifted resources to focus on a new delivery model and a cash store that will have on going costs and will take away resources from developing the game.

I am no where near as annoyed as others in this thread but my biggest issue with this change is that the development team will now not have everyone focused on improving the game by adding new content or improving or creating new system. It will now have development teams and cycles focused on creating crap that will make money and sell in the shop.

The above is why development slows down on the content side and why I hate B2P/F2P cash shop based games as the whole mind set of what is prioritized for development changes. The focus is now on a bunch of stuff they would never have even worried about before as for the most part its die fodder but now they have an outlet to sell it and make money the priority changes.

Look I get the business side of it I'm a Software Product Manager myself but i know what this means from a resourcing perspective and it means less focus on content as someone has to focus on keeping the store fresh with items and managing any bugs and issues they create.

The Champion System should have rewarded Champion Points based off of achievements and feats earned through excelling at end game content not grinding your life away vs mobs in order to stay competitive. This system is uncreative and is a great example of extremely lazy system design. Yes, you should be embarrassed

If they hadn't made the change, you'd continue to pay the sub until the Imperial City update came out. Following the change, you can continue to pay the sub until the Imperial City update comes out and receive it free.

Nothing has changed in that respect. Imperial City will be DLC, and DLC is included within ESO Plus, quite separate from the monthly crown allowance which you can spend on other stuff.

You have essentially answered the question. The problem is our $15 a month no longer goes solely towards new content and fixes, our subs are paying for new cash store items we can buy again......

I still want an answer to the question: will PC updates continue to be held back to stay in synch with console updates. The point of the sub fee was to pay for new content to be delivered every 4-6 weeks....not every 6 months - which is what it will be, at a minimum, if PC has to wait for DLC on console.

I'm not sure why people see money they paid to subscribe in previous months as entitling them to future content...

If the subscription model stayed as is, then you'd still have to pay a monthly fee to access that content. The only difference in this system is that you might opt to pay a one-time fee for certain content instead.

Well there was some promise of content that is yet to materialize. It looks like it may well have been held back to be released as buy to play dlc. You can't tell me that this was a decision that ZOS made a couple of weeks ago, they knew and kept showing upcoming content with no intention of releasing before the btp conversion.

Players who stayed subbed to play this content have been taken for a ride. ZOS has shown no regard for the players whatsoever.

People feel that way because: 1) that is what sub fees have always been for; 2) ZoS has always said that subscription fees support the development of regular content updates every 4-6 weeks; and 3) it's preposterous to think that the 135 dollars of sub fees paid by each person that has subbed for the last 9 months would be for anything else.
